Chapter 998 - 1011: Honey, I Was Wrong
An Ran followed his hand and looked toward the trash can, where there was a pile of snack wrappers and ice cream wrappers. Among the snack wrappers were her favorite chocolate pies and those off-brand ice creams.
It’s not her fault for being careless; she really didn’t expect Mu Xingfeng to check the trash can. When she bought ice cream, she wasn’t as careful as Mu Xingfeng. She picked a couple just because the packaging looked nice, only to find out at home that they were brands she hadn’t heard of. Since she’d already bought them, not eating them would be a waste, so she ate them.
An Ran’s eyes darted around a bit, and she finally said, "Those are someone else’s, yes, someone else’s—Liu Hu’s and Vice President Huo’s. The weather is so hot, when guests come, you have to serve them, right?"
An Ran casually looked for an excuse, not caring at all how poor her excuse was.
Mu Xingfeng didn’t say a word but instead stood up and headed to the kitchen, bent down, and picked up the kitchen trash can. He reached out and rummaged through it. He saw that apart from onion skins, there were only a few faded vegetable leaves and eggshells, and only then did his face look a little better.
An Ran watched him and rubbed her forehead speechlessly. Does he have to guard against her like this? Next time, before he comes home, she must remember to clean out the trash cans.
"Honey, I was wrong," An Ran stood at the kitchen door, wearing an expression that promised to mend her ways, confessing.
Mu Xingfeng put down the trash can, left the kitchen, went to the bathroom, and turned on the faucet to wash his hands, without saying a word.
An Ran followed him out of the kitchen and into the bathroom, "Honey, I really know I was wrong."
Mu Xingfeng dried his hands and turned his head to look at her little expression, truly at a loss for what to say.
If she were one of his soldiers, he had plenty of ways to make them obedient. But facing his little wife, he simply had no solution.
If he reprimands her lightly, she always doesn’t take her health seriously. But if he reprimands her harshly, he can’t bring himself to do it.
Once again, Captain Mu of the Nan’an Guard Team, who is capable of anything, found himself at a loss.
Looking at Mu Xingfeng’s expression, which was hard to describe, An Ran quietly snuggled up closer, tilted her little head up, and planted a kiss on that coldly handsome face, "Honey, I was wrong. I’ll change next time, okay?"
Mu Xingfeng let out a long sigh and put his arm around this little troublemaker, "You mischievous wife, what am I supposed to do with you?"
Knowing full well that her remorse wouldn’t last more than three days, he couldn’t bring himself to voice any more complaints.
When Mu Xingfeng took An Ran to the canteen, it was already full of people.
Today, surprisingly, the canteen wasn’t set up with long rectangular tables, but rather several round tables, with everyone seated around one.
Because the Guard Team strictly prohibits drinking—with all team members in a 24-hour combat-ready state—there were only some drinks placed on the tables.
As Mu Xingfeng and An Ran entered the canteen, they saw Sister-in-law Song waving to them from afar, so the two of them walked directly over.
The table was already crowded with people, leaving only two empty seats, apparently reserved for them.
At one table, there were three men, three women, and two children. Adding Mu Xingfeng and An Ran made a total of ten people.
"Xingfeng, An Ran, hurry over. We’ve been waiting for you," Sister-in-law Song called them to sit down.
As Sister-in-law Song waved them over, several people at the table simultaneously noticed Mu Xingfeng and An Ran beside him, and several of them were startled.
They had heard Mu Xingfeng had brought his family to the Guard Team several times but had never gotten the chance to meet them. Privately, they all wondered what kind of wife the cold-faced Yama of the Nan’an Guard Team would pick; unexpectedly, she was this kind of young girl—to use a current popular phrase, she was a soft girl.
