Chapter 999 - 1012: Please Look After Her

Noticing the surprise on the men at the table, Sister-in-law Song spoke as soon as the couple sat down, "Xingfeng, you’ve brought your wife several times without properly introducing her. Let’s take this opportunity to let everyone get to know her."
Sister-in-law Song knew An Ran; she had officially introduced the pair when Mu Xingfeng brought An Ran to the Guard Team while recovering from an injury and they met downstairs. While the Nan’an Guard Team’s captain could bring family members along, there were quite a few family members within the entire area.
At this table, besides Chief Guard Wang and Sister-in-law Song, there were also Captain Li from Team 101 and his spouse, Sister-in-law Sun, and Captain Tao from Team 103 with his spouse, Sister-in-law Wang.
Mu Xingfeng glanced at An Ran and stood up to make a formal introduction, "This is my wife, An Ran, currently studying at Nan’an University. I hope the ladies here will kindly look after her."
An Ran noticed that Mu Xingfeng, usually a man of few words, always had a few extra words when introducing her. Especially that phrase, "please kindly look after her," although a very common sentence, warmed An Ran’s heart.
After introducing An Ran to everyone, Mu Xingfeng introduced them to An Ran, "This is Chief Guard Wang and his spouse Sister-in-law Song, Captain Li and his spouse Sister-in-law Sun, Captain Tao and his spouse Sister-in-law Wang."
An Ran greeted each captain and spouse reciprocally. She had met Sister-in-law Sun and Sister-in-law Wang before, and did not have a good impression of Sister-in-law Sun. Nonetheless, she maintained her decorum given the circumstances.
Chief Guard Wang, Captain Li, and Captain Tao all appeared as tough men in their thirties and forties. Compared to them, Mu Xingfeng seemed much more refined.
Sister-in-law Wang waved with a smile, "Please sit down, we’re already acquainted," she said while offering An Ran a serving of food.
"I heard An is a student at Nan’an University, studying in the Medical Department?" Nan’an University’s reputation extends not only in C Province but also across the Empire, and its medical department is nationally renowned.
"Yes, Sister-in-law Wang," An Ran responded.
"Captain Mu is really fortunate to have found such a beautiful and competent wife, unlike us who just cook and look after kids at home," Sister-in-law Sun said as she served dishes to her son, Li Lele, her eyes never leaving her son.
With that, the atmosphere at the table turned a bit awkward. Li Dajun covertly glanced at Mu Xingfeng and An Ran and said in a deepened voice to Sun Lufang, "If you can’t speak properly, then don’t speak. Just sit there and eat your meal; nobody thinks you’re mute."
Sun Lufang paused her chopsticks, visibly displeased, "Li Dajun, how am I not speaking properly? What did I say wrong? If you’re unsatisfied with me, why don’t you find yourself a cultured and beautiful wife?"

Li Dajun was about to retort, but Chief Guard Wang interrupted, "Alright, this is a celebration banquet, and everyone’s finally gathered for a meal. Save any disputes for home. It’s unbecoming to argue at the dinner table with so many subordinates witnessing."
This effectively silenced both Li Dajun and Sun Lufang, as Sister-in-law Song stepped in to mediate, "Alright, Dajun, you know how Lifang talks, it’s not just a one-day thing; her heart isn’t bad."
