Chapter 342: Tattling On Her
Throughout the week, neither Ruediger nor Lariette let the topic of Vincent, Chairman Alvord and the Alvord Corporation bother them.
They spent the rest of the week as if that man’s appearance and his audacious request were just figments of one’s imagination.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Aside from being preoccupied with teaching, Lariette was busier as the school geared up for the end-of-term examinations and final evaluations. She returned home mostly from five to six now, exhausted and longing for the bed.
As for Ruediger, he had been discussing additional measures to be taken against the Alvord Corporation if they retaliated. He learned from Nathaniel how frantically they tried reaching out to him.
"I think I’ve lost count of how many times they wanted to meet me. Well, Fabian said Vincent approached him during a banquet last week, but he promised nothing."
Ruediger scoffed upon hearing that remark from Nathaniel. He told his friend to continue ignoring the Alvords and also to inform him if they had changed their tactics.
As always, Nathaniel reassured Ruediger that he would have his back.
Indeed. His estranged father had gotten more desperate but it wasn’t his problem.
As the week approached its end, the pair went to visit Chairman Delaney on Saturday at noon. Ruediger received his truck back on Monday evening, a day after leaving it to the Campbells.
The temperature had dropped further and the breeze carried a semblance of frost. Winter would arrive anytime soon, including the end of the year.
