BLOOD LEGACIES

Chapter 234: The Rogue

It was quiet, impossibly quiet and I could hear the sound of my own beating heart because of the dead silence. The sound of my throat moving up and down echoed in my ears, my sharp breathing as I took in the cold air that now hung over the area, my orbs caught notice of the particles of snow descending.

My hands still trembled but I held my dagger firm. My eyes did not depart from this Beast not even for a second.

The beast watched me and did not make a move. I began to ponder for how long... maybe it was waiting for me to make the first move... my grip further tightened on my dagger, was this some sort of sick game for it? It killed my comrades and now it wants to toy with me?

His growl snapped me out of my thoughts, I watched as his nails extended and that was when I knew it was coming for me so I didn’t wait any longer I advanced quickly on my feet and it did too. Each of its paws against the ground made the earth shake beneath and I felt it override my bones but I kept my pace, I was calculative and cautious for I knew one mistake will end up ripping me to pieces.

So I duck and his claws missed my head, it was a clean action and I knew one wrong move and that claw of his would have taken my head. In the process of sliding beneath this beast I cut the wire I spotted not too long ago, one of our traps I knew it won’t do anything much but it would slow it down, long enough for me to finish it off.

*Snap*

The trap came, the tree bark plunging in the direction of the beasts and it once again slash into it with little effort. But I didn’t stop there, I moved fast and aimed at the other traps as the werelion came for me, it slowed it down and I was fast on my feet, relentlessly cutting the wires, and the sound of snapping ropes filling my ears as well as clashing sound and animalistic growls.

I was fast in the distance, and nothing in sight so I hid behind a tree, panting and finally having the chance to catch my breath. I was moving way too fast than my body could handle, just how fast was that thing? I peeped behind the tree... at least I was able to slow it down with the traps... I couldn’t see it in sight anymore.

I just need to catch my breath... It was a difficult feat, especially with this cloth on my face so I ripped it off and allowed my nose to breathe the cold air and somewhat give me relief.

At this current state, I don’t think I will make it and this werelion has tailed me, it will track me down even without my scent until I’m ripped apart, even if I fight longer and try to buy time to slow it down it was futile because my body will give off way before it will give me a chance to strike a bow.

"Fuck!" I cursed under my breath, Alphas were the worst, and what made it more life-threatening for me was this was a Rogue, it’s beast side have overridden this werelion’s brain. In a normal case in the sense of the situation it would retreat or admit its defeat on me but this will hunt until everything in its part is plunged down.

I have no choice then... I closed my eyes and pictured Emma’s face.
