Chapter 364: Sneak out
"That day... Seeing you with Lana, I wasn’t sure how I felt. Betrayed? Suspicious? I thought for a long time and maybe I doubted your intentions too," After confronting Esther, she was barely in the right mind to analyze anything, "But later, I realized that one feeling overpowered the rest."
"I was jealous. I was so jealous at the thought of any woman beside you."
"The feeling overwhelmed me."
"It still does. Just thinking of any woman beside you makes me want to kill you both..." Ella bit her bottom lips, "But I see it clearly now."
"The reason I could never understand what to do with you is because I have fallen in love with you, Adrian."
Seconds passed and only silence lingered between the two of them.
Ella watched the pair of eyes looking into hers with focus, the expression in them remained unreadable.
Gradually, his eyes closed.

Later that night.
Ella sat by the window in her hospital room, gazing at the moon overhead.

When the door opened, she turned around, only to find Ruby standing at the entrance.
"I thought you’d be spending the night in his room," Ruby crossed her arms in front of his chest.
"He is resting. And I wanted to clear my head here," Ella said.
"So, is your head clear now?"
Ella nodded.
"What did you think of?"
"A lot of things," Ella said mysteriously.
"And what, out of them, is the most beneficial to you?"
"I don’t ever want to come close to losing Adrian again," Ella leaned back on the window, "In this life, he is the one I want to cherish with everything I have."
Ruby stood there, a hint of unease settling between her brows. When she thought about the conversation she had overheard earlier, she did not know whether to tell Ella about it or not.
Telling Ella that Adrian’s grandparents might grow uncomfortable with her presence did not feel right at this moment.
But what comforted Ruby was the fact that Adrian would back Ella up, no matter what happened.
"You look tense," Ella said suddenly as she looked at Ruby. Then, she squinted, "And your lips... are swollen."
Ruby snapped out of her thoughts, her face heating up.
"Your face is red."
"You... I... It’s an allergy."
Ella blinked, "Is it because of the hospital?" She walked to Ruby and hugged her, "You have been taking care of me these days between shoots. Just go back tonight and rest."
"I’m staying."
"Ruby, I’m feeling much better now."
"But..."
"She has me to look after her."
A voice rang by the door and both of them turned around.
Kade entered the room with a casual hand inside his pocket, "Don’t worry, I won’t let Ella die... yet."
Ruby glared at him.
Ella rolled her eyes.
Finally, after another bout of convincing, Ruby left.
Ella looked at Kade thoughtfully, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"It doesn’t seem like you are up to anything good," Kade gulped.
"So what if I am? So what if I am not?" Ella smiled mysteriously.
"What do you want?"
"I want you to help me with something."
"You are already in such a condition," Kade started backing away slowly as he hesitated, "You should put your brain to rest and go to sleep..."
Ella narrowed her eyes.
"Fine," Kade exhaled, "What do you want?"
"Sneak me out of the hospital."
"What?!" Kade’s eyes nearly bulged out.

The next morning.
Adrian was surrounded by a group of doctors who examined him, and nurses who inspected the equipment surrounding the man.
In the centre of all those people, Ronan stood with a file in his hand as he recorded the doctors’ observations.
"President King’s vitals are way more stable now. It is a good sign."
Ronan nodded before handing them the files.
All the people in the room bowed and retreated.
Ronan glanced at his best friend, a hint of exasperation and tiredness in his eyes.
Feeling the gaze on him, Adrian tilted his head.
Ronan dragged the chair and sat beside the bed, "Do you even feel any remorse?"
Adrian arched a brow.
"I have told you time and time again that you shouldn’t play with your life like this. You don’t have nine lives, for god’s sake! And with your health record..."
The door opened, interrupting Ronan.
Both the men turned, only to be greeted by the sight of Old Master and Old Madam who entered the hospital room, followed by the old butler.
The butler of the Main Mansion rushed about, setting cutleries and serving dishes by the side table.
Old Madam King looked at Adrian with tears in her eyes, "Little Ian, if something happened to you..." She walked to the man and said emotionally, "What would Grandma do then?"
Adrian’s eyes shifted slightly, "Grandma..."
Before Adrian could finish speaking, a loud harrumph reverberated in the room.
Everyone turned to Old Master King who did not hold back in reproaching Adrian, "You little brat, do you feel good making your grandma worry at this age?"
Adrian frowned when he heard that.
"What now? Are you trying to threaten me with that look? Brat, I’m still your grandfather."
"I..." Adrian sighed gently, "did not."
At this moment, there was a gentle knock on the door. Followed by that, the door was pushed open and Kade stepped in.
"No wonder I did not see anyone outside today," His eyes brightened in excitement when he looked at Adrian, "Brother, you are finally awake."
Adrian nodded.
"It seems like we reached on time," When Kade looked to his left, he realized that the spot was empty, "Huh? Why are you not coming inside?" Kade peeked outside.
There were no movements for a while.
But after a few seconds, Ella stepped inside with a bag in her hand. There was a hint of redness on her face and from the moment she stepped inside, she did not look Adrian in the eyes.
When she thought about the words she had said to him the night before, her face reddened even further.
"The doctors told me you took her outside," Ronan narrowed his eyes at both of them, "What were you both up to?"
