Chapter 663: Sprinting His Way
Third Person’s POV
Ethan didn’t even spare the dead magical beast another glance.
His expression was filled with urgency as he turned toward the others and said,
"Follow me."
Without waiting for a response, he immediately started running down the mountain at full speed.
Their group had already crossed over to the other side of the mountain, successfully escaping the territory of those bloodthirsty invisible monstrous herons.
They had been descending toward the lower region when Ethan suddenly received a soul transmission directly inside his mind.
The information came together with vague images that had been carried through the strange spatial connection, allowing Arlene’s thoughts to propagate across the enormous distance.
The moment Arlene finished, Ethan’s expression changed instantly.
His hand unconsciously tightened around his sword.
He felt the familiar presence of another identical beast tooth inside his spatial ring, and realization immediately dawned upon him.
’That girl actually used it.’
Ethan hadn’t expected Arlene to use the beast tooth he had given her the previous day so soon.
More importantly, he hadn’t expected her to use it to inform him about his mother and Aurelia.
His teeth clenched as a suppressed anxiety rose within him.
Without bothering to explain anything, Ethan immediately changed direction and began rushing down the mountain.
Behind him, Erius shouted something in confusion and anger, while Aria and Misril both frowned at his sudden change in attitude.
Ethan ignored all of them, as his mind was already filled with thoughts of the two women.
Those two beast teeth were actually miniature versions of the dragon teeth belonging to his master, Nyx, who had given them to him a long time ago.
Because Nyx possessed an innate and extraordinarily profound ability to manipulate the mysterious space element, even her teeth possessed a peculiar spatial connection with one another.
Since they were part of the same body, as long as one person possessed one tooth and another possessed its counterpart, they could establish a connection across enormous distances and communicate through their souls.
In this magical world, there were no phones like in his previous world that could allow people to communicate across vast distances without physically traveling.
Yet these seemingly ordinary dragon teeth completely defied that limitation.
Since Arlene had left a good impression on Ethan that day through her honesty and straightforward attitude, and not to forget that she had been the one who had unearthed him from the deep caves of the Aurora Frost Mountains, he had decided to give her one of the teeth as a way of repaying that favor.
He had never imagined that the seemingly casual gift would end up helping him instead.
A mixture of excitement and anxiety welled up within him as he couldn’t help smiling bitterly at the irony.
Still, he was glad that at least Arlene had managed to contact him in time.
The rough location she had transmitted to him seemed to be only around ten kilometers away from where they currently were.
Ten kilometers.
It wasn’t that far.
But when it came to the lives of his mother and Aurelia, even that distance felt unbearably long.
Ethan pushed those unnecessary thoughts aside.
He returned his heavy ice sword to his spatial ring and immediately roused every muscle in his body.
Then he accelerated.
Boom!
His body shot forward.
He was so fast that he practically seemed to be flying across the snow.
No, it was even faster than what ordinary flying could accomplish.
His feet repeatedly touched the snowy ground for barely an instant before his body shot forward again, leaving only faint traces behind him.
His movements became so fast that his figure appeared to flicker and bounce across the mountain slopes, almost as though he were teleporting from one location to another.
The others were immediately left struggling to keep up.
Ethan’s current speed wasn’t being produced by some technique relying on mana.
There was no movement spell supporting his body.
It was purely the result of his extraordinarily well-trained physique and monstrous physical strength.
His body had been tempered and trained to an absurd degree.
He could have moved even faster by using his Wings of Darkness, but his mana veins were currently locked, preventing him from drawing upon the darkness locked within his newly transformed Dark Crystal Core.
The thought caused a flash of resentment to pass through his mind.
Erius... Shixea... Ivan...
Three names rang through his mind in rapid succession.
Because of their selfish interests, he was practically half-crippled at the moment.
If something happened to his mother or Aurelia because of this...
A chilling light flashed through his crimson eyes.
’I will make you pay.
Damn it! I have to hurry!’
However, he refused to let his anger cloud his judgment.
Instead, he converted that resentment and rage into focus.
The brutal training of his previous life flashed through his mind.
As a member of one of the world’s most elite special forces units, he had been trained to push his body toward its absolute limits.
Every movement had to be efficient, and every ounce of strength had to be utilized to its fullest.
He had been taught to turn his own body into a lethal weapon.
Years of relentless training had ensured that every muscle in his body possessed monstrous endurance, agility, and explosive power, while his mind and body had been conditioned to operate in perfect synchronization.
Even after reincarnating into this world, Ethan had never abandoned that principle.
Through the Arctic Sovereign Body Manual and years of brutal training modeled after the regimen of his previous life, he had forged his physique into something that ordinary mages and even warriors of the same realm could scarcely comprehend.
Every step he took carried explosive power, yet none of it was wasted.
His movements remained controlled, precise, and ruthlessly efficient.
The others continued desperately following behind him, but they were gradually left farther and farther behind.
Ethan’s figure became a blur, and then a streak.
And eventually, to those struggling behind him, he seemed to become nothing more than a rapidly shrinking dot disappearing across the snowy mountain.
