Chapter 795: It’s called diligence
Days flew by in the blink of an eye, and Axel found himself almost camping on the secret floor. Ever since his sister-in-law asked him for a favor, she had been here for days. Axel had informed the chief that the secret floor was still occupied and everyone should take a few days off.
"What is she doing?" he muttered, tapping the end of his pencil against the paper in front of him. He craned his neck over the monitor, catching Heaven’s silhouette. "Doesn’t she have any plans to go home? She’s been here for days now."
It was getting concerning. Dominic would visit her at night, but Heaven would simply apologize and say she couldn’t come home yet. Axel had asked his brother about Heaven’s activities, but Dominic would just shrug.
A faint beep interrupted Axel’s thoughts, and he glanced instinctively at his watch. It was noon. Lunchtime. Axel wordlessly pushed himself away from the desk, eyes lingering on Heaven.
"Sis, it’s lunchtime," he announced as soon as he straightened up. But just like the past several days, he received no response. Another sigh escaped him, shaking his head as he dragged his feet away from the room.
In the beginning, people would come in and serve them lavish food, but spending day and night in this room without going out was suffocating. Hence, today he asked his people not to bring him food; he wanted to eat outside the secret room.
As Axel reached the exit, he glanced back at her once more. Heaven remained engrossed in her work on the keyboard and monitor, seemingly oblivious to his presence.
"Whatever," he muttered, shaking his head again as he left.
Meanwhile, various tabs kept appearing and disappearing on Heaven’s monitor screen. She wasn’t pretending to be deaf or ignoring Axel. Her undivided attention was focused on the project she had been working on for days.
