Monster Wars Part 5
Waking up in the morning, Jake is shocked to see a monster inside his little cave he found made from the rubble of many broken buildings that somehow formed a sturdy enough cavern that could be used as a makeshift home for those willing to risk their lives as it constantly creaks.
Frantically looking around for his shield or gun, the monster just chuckles as he throws the shield at Jake, causing it to roll around and then teeter around before it finally falls on the floor while he slides the gun to Jake.
???: "No need to be alarmed. I am but a friend for your quest to vanquish the threat to both our lives."
Jake: "What?"
???: "Ugh, you simple creatin! (Something slaps the ground hard in the darkness.) I am not a danger. I just wanted to see if you were the man I thought you were, and now that I know you are, I want to help in finishing off the threat that has caused all of us suffering."
Jake doesn't feel confident with this figure hiding in darkness. Maybe because his voice seems to cause great rage to grow inside him, or maybe it was the fact that his glowing lizard-like eyes seemed to pierce through his very soul.
But then again, there wasn't exactly much either of them could do on their own since Jake had no idea where to even begin looking for the White-Demon, nor did he have any knowledge of what kind of threat he was going to be facing when and should they fight.
Jake: "Okay, I agree that I need your help. But if we're going to be working together, can you at least tell me why you hate them and your name?"
???: "You can call me Conner. And as for why I wish to defeat and ravish the White-Demon to the point they are nothing more than a pot of soup, it is because they betrayed me and my kin by killing all those that did not follow their rule before giving me a grievous injury that makes it hard to move around without risk of death."
Jake waits for a solid minute or two as he waits for Conner to continue speaking, as he was expecting more from why he wanted White-Demon to die among just what happened to make it hard for him to move, as what part of him was stabbed that moving an inch might kill him.
Upon realizing that nothing more was going to be said by the strange lizard-man Conner, Jake grabbed his shield and gun and made his way out of the cavern as Conner gave him a list of things that he'd need to find the White-Demon.
Jake: "I thought you knew where they were?"
Conner: "In the past I knew. But many years have passed since that day, and now they could be living anywhere in this city, state, or even country with the mask of another hiding their identity."
Jake just sighs, as he's fairly certain Conner was lying to him and was just asking for parts to build some kind of machine that, while it might work as Conner promised, was also most likely going to do something else that would help only Conner.
Looking at the list, Jake did not understand a single thing that was written, as he had no idea what any of the parts looked like and was just greatly confused as to how Conner thought he could help if he didn't even understand what he needed.
Flipping the page around, Jake realized he was just looking on the wrong side of the page, and then he found the things he needed written in the most condescending way only used when talking to children.
Others might be annoyed with the wording, spelling, and way the thing was written, but since Jake didn't know much of anything about what he was looking for, along with just not knowing much in general.
Everything on the list, as he understood it wasn't that hard to find and gather, as everything could be found in either any Avenger compound or the Baxter building, specifically the Fantastic Four floor of the building anyway, since Reed Richards has basically all of that or most of it.
And if not, then Iron Man probably has the parts, given he's known to horde basically any and every piece of technology that comes from aliens, dangerous threats, or just things that he himself is interested in that he's not willing to dare let the X-Men touch.
Jake: "Who are all those people, and why do I know more about them than myself (scratches head)?"
Jake just shrugs as he continues dashing between hiding spots as best he can to reach any of the places that he just somehow knew kept the pieces of technology that Conner wanted or rather needed for whatever he was making.
The first place he arrived at was the Avengers Tower, or rather what once was the Avengers Tower but now is a massive throne for either the White-Demon or the Abomination. If any of the signs with a red demon are any indication of who lives/rules this area.
Unlike all the monster-controlled areas, where there's just human corpses along with broken everything that made the city run in the past. This place was also littered with monster bodies, with a couple even hanging on what used to be traffic lights.
Making his way into the building, the first thing Jake sees is a body fall to the floor and burst like a bloody water balloon as a massive claw stabs the wall and forces a monster out as its friends try to help, not because they have any care, apparently, but because they were next.
Jake felt nothing for these creatures since they'd do the same thing to humans if given the chance, and with that thought in mind, he kept sneaking through the tower as he tried to find whatever room stored all the technology Iron Man/The Avengers "acquired" over the years.
But because the Avengers tower was very tall and had about four, three, or maybe five rooms per floor, that wasn't the top floor anyhow, which meant far too many things that eventually meant nothing.
Like, why does a group of superheroes need an entire room full of their own autographs and merchandise? What are they planning to do to flip the market of these things once one of them dies or something?
The next couple of rooms were about the same level of absurdity, as everything just seemed to be full of either random things or spare parts for the building or other things that might need repairs, as they had many supplies in bulk.
At the top of the tower Jake found Iron Man's lab or someone's lab since it was hard to tell who owned the lab given the lack of anything that resembled stroking one's ego like Iron Man seemed to do since most of the signed autographs were of Iron Man.
Quickly taking everything, he needed Jake tried to run out of the place only to almost get attacked by the claw, but just a mere seconds before it pierced Jake, the monster that had either broken free or was let free made some noise that caused the claw to go after it instead.
Like every white man in a horror movie, Jake for some reason stayed behind so he could see what the claw belonged to, as he wanted to know what kind of threat he might have to face in the future should he ever face this demon again.
Abomination: "Poor little lamb, lost to the slaughter. Thought you knew better than to mess with me and where I camp. Now you're nothing but fuel to continue my conquest."
The Abomination then begins coughing and hacking out parts of its body, as even the Abomination was not free from the wrath or betrayal of the White-Demon, as the Abomination was nothing more than a head inside a rusted-out Iron Man armor that was fused with other pieces of tech to keep it working.
Limping his way through the tower that's connected to every metal limb to keep him alive, the Abomination plunged his claw straight into the monster, and the monster quickly turned into goo that the Abomination sucked up into a machine that then turned it into a drink of some kind that the Abomination then chugged.
Abomination: "Ugh. (dropped the vial as it doesn't even break but rolls underneath his foot) I hate the taste of these things, but they're the only thing that I can consume."
Jake suddenly appears behind the Abomination and effortlessly rips his head off, as somehow the Abomination was even weaker than Jake, but when he did so, the Abomination revealed a red claw hiding inside its head that stabbed Jake's chest.
Abomination: "Knew someone like you would show up eventually. (crawls over Jake's body) Now be a good boy and let me harvest your body."
Jake was freaked out over just how calm he was while asking to decapitate Jake and take his body for himself.
But thanks to the shield he had strapped to his back, Jake wasn't in as much of a danger as he would otherwise, as he grabbed his gun and blasted the Abomination straight from the back of the head, blowing a hole straight through the back of his head and right eye.
The Abomination wasn't dead as he just screamed out profanities that come from anyone with a god complex, but Jake didn't have time to really hear anything he said as he grabbed his shield and started bashing his shield over its head again and again.
For however long it takes to finally put him out of his misery, along with Jake's own misery for having this thing live as just seeing it makes him even more angry than Conner's silhouette ever did whenever he could see the figure.
Blacking out once more, Jake woke up to see his arm was now red but not because of the Abomination, as he was disfigured and looked to be a lump of matter as he tried to breathe, as it was cursed with life and couldn't die or even move around anymore.
Just to be on the safe side, Jake breaks the suit, severs the cords, and makes sure it's impossible for him to ever try using the gun, armor, or just about anything else that he needs to keep being sane or himself.
With all the parts he needed from here at least, Jake leaves the tower by using his newly forged red arm to help him swing through the rooftops, as the red seemed to be good at turning into whatever Jake wanted or needed it to be.
This power greatly reduces the time it takes him to move anywhere, as he can just throw out his new nails into a wall and zip line straight into the wall. It also gives him a weapon that works much better than a rusted gun that might one day kill him and a shield without a strap.
Although with the shield all he has to do is form connectors to the shield, and now he can use it as best he can since the shield is going to be better than anything he could make himself, as it's made of stronger stuff than whatever his red arm is made from.
With his new sight, Jake can truly see just how messed up the city has become as monsters, demons, and mutants were constantly fighting with whatever poor humans remained in the crossfire, just trying their best to hide to stay alive.
Only to fail, as they'd either die in the conflict or die by the demon or monsters, and if by some miracle they're found by a mutant, said mutant group basically turns them into slaves that have no real freedom and are forced to be happy with their servitude or risk dying.
Jake just shakes his head over the sight and wonders just where everything went wrong, as even though he can't really remember the time, he can still vaguely recall that there was a time when the world was at least a bit more peaceful than the war zone in front of him.
But enough with the thoughts of a bygone era. Jake needs to turn in the parts to Conner, as he should be able to help him find the White-Demon so he can figure out a way to stop this madness since they're probably the reason everything is so messed up.
Jake: "Hey Conner! I got your stuff (drops the bag on the floor and kicks it a little to scoot it closer to the dark corner). This everything you need!?"
Conner doesn't say anything but just opens his eyes and uses a mop to move everything closer to his side of the rubble home and just chuckles to himself as the sounds of tools and pain fill the place as Jake just relaxes and tries his best to read his book while he waits.
And that is all for now hope you all enjoyed and until next time stay say and peace!
