The Amazing White-Spider

Monster Wars Part 4

While walking through what used to be the city streets, Jake has come and stayed in what remained of his old home if he could remember living there at all, as he came here by pure instinct like a bird returning to its nest.

Inside the home lots of things have changed, and not just from the monster way, but the entire place seems a lot sadder in nature, as what used to be Jake's room has been sealed off for the most part, almost like they just couldn't bear to enter the room.

Even though it's evident that the sealing tape has been cut by someone opening the door.

Upon opening the door, lots of dust started to fall off the door and produced a smoke effect as Jake wandered the room wondering what the owner of this room used to be like for there to be something like police tape covering up the door.

Because of how much dust in the room along with how long it's been there, it's impossible for Jake to see anything that might show who lived in this room and what type of person they were, as all the books in here were stuck together and the posters are missing, with the shadow of a clean surface remaining.

Sitting on the bed causes all the dust that was gently resting to spray in the air as all the bugs and creatures sleeping underneath begin crawling out and about from the bed before running for the hills the second they spot Jake.

This left him greatly confused, but he was very welcoming to a bed since it's been about a week since he's left the group and has grown tired of only being able to take quick naps, as otherwise, he'd be risking something attacking him while he was completely defenseless.

Even now in this house there was a chance that he might get attacked while he slept, but he didn't care, as this place felt safe enough for him to just kick back and truly relax without having to worry about himself.

When Jake woke up, he was pleasantly surprised that nothing seemed to happen other than him getting a blanket of dust over his body, which shouldn't be really possible unless he slept far longer than he thought.

Clambering out of the bed, Jake just flopped on the floor like a giant cartoon pancake man with the dust on the floor making an imprint of where he was from, where his whole body touched it.

Rested up and just curious about the place Jake looks around the house he felt drawn towards as he eats some random stuff in a can that he managed to find that's probably still good since there weren't any signs of problems besides the fact it doesn't have a wrapper.

Looking into the master bedroom where his parents had lived was a bit interesting, as the place looked to have been searched in a hurry, as everything but the bed for some reason was on the floor, broken, and just tossed all around with all the drawers either on the floor or hanging out.

The closet sliding door was completely broken, as were all the hangers, as the clothes rest on the floor, having fused together into a massive lump of whatever materials made all the clothes and pants.

Jake: "Why's there a gun in here? It's not even in the safe that's still holding on. I just found it placed on the floor next to the clothes covered in darkness without a care in the world."

Jake shrugs, cocks the gun with extreme effort, and just barely manages to slide it halfway before it gets stuck, and now Jake has a gun-looking club.

Having nothing else to do in this room, Jake leaves the room and heads to the only other room besides the bathroom and immediately gets a splitting headache, visions of blood on his hands, and echoes of love and hate along with "MONSTER" being shouted in his ears.

Visions of a pink lizard fill the room, as well as a tiny female with twin tails looking at Jake with both a smile and a frown, as while her face seemed happy, her eyes were filled with sadness as tears flowed down and down as the room floods with images of her.

Jake: "HALEY!"

For some reason saying this name seems to cause the nightmares to stop as droplets of water hit the floor trailing his face with his hands. Jake realizes it was in fact his tears confusing him greatly, as he doesn't understand why he cries nor who the owner of the name was or why it caused him such pain and grief.

Stumbling his way up the doorway, Jake struggles to take even a step further into this room without fearing the single step he took inside would be even worse than before, and with the way things were, he didn't—nay, couldn't—afford dealing with that right now.

The second he steps outside the door, monsters charge at him, and Jake quickly fumbles with the shield as he's not used to it but just barely manages to block the first attack, only to lose his hand with the second.

His shield drops to the floor, and with quick movement Jake stomps on the shield, causing it to flip, and smacks the monster in the face, and with the brief window he has, Jake grabs the edge of the shield and uses it to bash the monsters coming after him.

One HIT! TWO HIT! Three HIT! is all he could muster before his hand got tired as the shockwave coming from the shield and where he was holding made it harder and harder to keep his hold, and Jake knew he had either one or two more hits before he losses the shield.

Frantically looking around, Jake sees nothing that he could use other than the gun club in his hand, and since he has nothing better to do or even lose at this point, he throws the shield with all his might right at one of the monsters as it gets stuck right inside their chest, killing them instantly.

All the monsters for a brief second just looked at their fallen friend, and that was enough time for Jake to pull out the gun and aim it at the closet monster as he fired!

Jake's entire arm and face were in pain thanks to the recoil as well as the blast causing everything to start ringing.

Every monster scattered once they realized that Jake wasn't as powerless as they thought and ran as far away as they could since the best prey is an easy prey, and since he has a gun and they've lost two of their ten members, they no longer liked the odds.

Placing the gun in his pants, Jake tries his best to ignore the intense heat since he has no other place for it to go and begins dragging all the monsters inside the house along with his severed arm that he plans to do something with.

Back inside the house, Jake rips up one of the semi-decently clean enough clothes to make a binding to wrap his severed arm back into the socket in hopes of it getting back together while he figures out just how he was going to dissect these monsters and eat them.

Jake: "Can't really be picky with food in this situation now, can I?"

Dragging all the furniture in the living room away from the center and using it to barricade the door and patio door, he then went about breaking apart all the wooden things he could find to make some kindling and then light a fire with some oil and rocks he found.

Jake: "Well, considering the straps are already broken, I guess this thing can make one hell of a pan when I'm not using it for protection, I guess."

Throwing the shield over the fire, Jake pulls the monster corpse that he shot towards the fire, and then the next thing he knew, the fire had died down, his shield was covered in soot and ash, and lots and lots of bones littered the room.

If the clock wasn't broken and gutted for parts, it might have been able to tell the time, but given Jake just lit the fire, and it was already extinguishing, it must have meant he blacked out for however long it took for the fire to die down.

All Jake knows is that he's missed some time and that his arm is back just like new; actually, scratch that, his arm is better than new. In fact, it feels like it's doing better than ever, just like his entire body, as he feels like he can actually hold onto the gun and shield without stumbling.

Not together, of course, as that's impossible for someone like him, but he feels like he can at least fight back against the monsters without instantly losing his limbs like before, along with being able to actually carry stuff instead of having to push the couch away with his back.

Jake: "No idea how this happened, but I'm pleasantly surprised, to say the least, and I will gladly enjoy the benefits of no longer having to fight against a strong breeze just to stay on my feet and no longer having to lower my back just to carry the shield without falling over."

Stumbling around the house, Jake wonders what's inside the forbidden room once more but decides that it isn't worth dealing with the trauma that seems to come with whatever's attached to the name Haley and begins backing a bag.

The bag came from the room he slept inside, and it's very girly for some reason, as it's a dark pink color with patches of flowers, rainbows, and other such things sown onto it, with a dragon symbol keychain being the only non-girlish thing of the bag.

Jake really likes the bag, as it seems to bring him peace, and since it's big enough to hold the shield in place as well, he likes it a lot more than he already did since now he doesn't have to worry about the broken strap problem.

Well, at least for now anyway, as if he wants to use it in battle, he's going to need to figure out a way to use either replace or fix it up, as otherwise it's just a frying pan and some protection against things that want to hit him from behind.

Nothing in this place has any real worth other than a broken picture of a family of four if you count the grandpa and his very wrinkly dog. If not, then it's a broken family of three that look like they're forcing themselves to be happy for some reason.

Jake: "I don't know why they look so distraught, and I don't understand why my hand refuses to let it go. But I guess I could use it for kindling or something since my body refuses to let go and the picture takes up like no space."

Next was the only book that wasn't completely destroyed by dust and time called "A Wrinkle in Time." Why this was the only book in this entire house that was kept in semi-mint condition, Jake has no clue, but it should be the only fun he can afford in case he needs to wait.

Grabbing whatever canned food remains along with some stuff that's possibly fine to eat, he throws them all inside his bag and leaves the place and continues on his journey.

Where he's going, he has no idea, but there's something inside him that's telling him where to go, and only an idiot wouldn't listen to his own instinct, especially when it gave him food, a possible lead as to who he was, and helped strengthen his body somehow.

Jake: "Okay, Mr. Invisible, guiding force of my subconscious mind. Let's see where the winds of your whims take me further into this hellhole of a place, and maybe we can find a way to stop the monsters, as they're pretty annoying."

While Jake was walking, a figure was watching. A figure of pure green with scales instead of hair and eyes made of amber, and what remains of a lab coat and jeans as they huff, puff, and groan while watching the figure walk past with bewilderment in its eyes.

???: "(Gruff and broken voice form lack of talking) Not... Alone???"

And that is all for now hope you all enjoyed and until next time stay safe and peace!
