Monster Wars Part 3
The low hum of the neon lights acted as a makeshift sky so the people don't forget what they're fighting for and the sights that came with it.
Everyone was sleeping, and while they weren't supposed to be, they just had a party, and sometimes it's hard to stay awake after drinking and eating enough shroom juice and shroom-based food; that was also the first time in a long while they all felt full and relaxed.
It was the first mistake in a long while they made; as if they hadn't, they would have realized the silent sensors were flashing multiple lights of multiple different colors as the monsters coiled, slithered, and crawled into the camp to find them some prey.
Jake was resting in his own room since even though everyone was welcoming, they were still smart enough to not trust the random guy that just suddenly appeared who might have a connection to the White-Demon besides the fact they share a face and name.
Leading the charge was a man clad in red with claws like a cat with eyes to match, or maybe they were eyes of the demon, as there was nothing but darkness beyond his sight as his soul was darker than anything any that have come before in a very long time.
The guards were quickly silenced and their weapons seized or broken depending on how much worth they might have to the red man or the monsters looking for a trophy or two.
A quick slice is all it took for most men to fall; the others had to be gagged with the massive arms or any other body part the monsters had as they plunged their sharp, jagged claws into their chest with a weight more than enough to crush their bones.
Everyone who suffered this fate was kept alive just long enough so the last sight they could see was their hearts being ripped out of their own chests as the monsters smiled with sadistic glee.
The red man walked over to the plugs keeping the fake sky alive and started pouring the fuel for the generators all over the wires and made a trail all across the shelters and stalls that made the makeshift city.
Once he was finished, he looked on with his heightened sense of hearing and made a base image of everything and then began to smile a low smile that was more business than pleasure, but that's only because he wasn't the one killing; that kept it from being real.
Red Man: "(Soft whisper) Time to clean up kids!"
He cut his wrist without hesitation and forged a long, jagged blade no thinner than his own noodly arms with chips all across, making it resemble the mouth of a beast, and sliced all the wires one by one as they fell into the oil and the sparks light the flames.
No one knew what was happening as the only survivors left were sleeping in homes far from the center but not far enough to not smell the flames or even be left alone, as some monsters didn't get out in time as the red man did not care for them and was content for them to die just as much as the others.
One such monster burst through the door that made up Jake's shanty home and tried to eat him, either as a last crazed thought or maybe because eating people/meat was the key to healing the damages caused by the fire.
With a loud shriek Jake awoke just in time to grab the monster's mouth seconds away from chomping what remained of his body while its tail and claws tried to pierce through his body and stop the meal in front of it from moving.
It was only then in the heat of the moment that Jake felt the heat coming from the flames of war along with the screams; as if he were awake, that meant anyone who remained was also awake and was currently fighting for dear life if the screams of horror were any indication.
Through the walls he heard a muffled scream come from one of the men who just moments ago he was sharing some mushroom juice with like it was the best thing in the world even if all of them struggled to keep it down.
Kicking the beast away as hard as he could, Jake quickly and frantically looked around the room for something to use, and damn was it hard as this place was safer than prison from just how little stuff it had inside along with how clean and neat the floor and walls were.
But nothing was perfect, and as they were made of wood, or at least some parts of it were that meant there was a nail, and quickly stomping his foot through the floor, Jake grabbed the makeshift club and started swinging it at the monster in front of him.
Apparently, this was the first time it had ever experienced this side of hunting before; either that or Jake was making such a scary face that it froze the monster in place as Jake kept beating it over and over as parts of its body started tearing off thanks to the jagged wood and nails.
Hearing a roar and a whistle, the monster shook off the fear and tried to jump at Jake once more, but as he jumped, Jake lowered his hands for but a moment as he was getting exhausted from constantly hitting the monster.
Yet when he saw it move in a way similar to an attack, he instantly held the wood and placed it right at the monster's chest, hoping to hold it off for a bit or push some kind of distance so he could actually think more about what he could do, as the wood wasn't going to last forever.
Monster screams could be heard by all as they sensed the death of a friend, or maybe they were just screaming for everyone to leave now that the prey was fighting back and no longer could be picked off like a favorite chip from a party-sized chip bag.
The monster's corpse goes limp as the monster falls right onto Jake, who struggles to get the massive creature off him since most of its body is firm, muscular, and hard while his is a limp noodle, to say the least.
As Jake lay on the ground with the monster bleeding out, a rumble could be heard, then a longer one, then a louder rumble.
Over and over again and again Jake's stomach would grumble as if it was crying out for him to feed it when he had no means of food to fill it, and with his limited memory, he honestly couldn't remember his stomach ever making this kind of noise nor his mouth watering.
Time felt to be passing far slower than he knew it was as Jake could still hear the fire raging outside, meaning it couldn't have been long if people were still fighting its flames, as his stomach made him think he'd gone months or even years without food.
Jake doesn't know when it happened, as he just remembers the sounds of clatter coming from his door as those that remained shook in fear as they saw Jake eating what little remained of the monster as he bit straight through the bone after having torn off the minuscule meat he had not yet consumed.
Monster blood was just coating Jake's body from head to tail along with most of the wall, floor, support beam, and even somehow the freaking ceiling, which is impossible to reach for anyone other than Giant Man.
Freedom Man: "Just how the hell did he do that? I mean, I've done something similar just to see, and the only thing I got was a black eye... (turns to the rest) don't ask; it was, uh... an interesting week back when I could choose where to live."
Random girl: "Ew, gross."
Freedom Man: "WHO SAID THAT!? I SAID NO JUDGING WITH HOW I USED TO SPEND MY FRIDAY NIGHTS BACK WHEN WE STILL HAD THEM!"
Everyone just stays quiet as they get to work in fixing the place up, as that's all they could really do with the place they had left, which was basically putting everything together with duct tape and hoping for the best since another attack was going to come tomorrow and the day after and the day after till they're all gone.
Jake was getting cleaned up like a massive toddler with whatever stank they considered bath water, as it certainly didn't smell good, but considering the fact it was basically melting the thing holding it along with everything that touched it, maybe it's best they only lightly scrubbed and splashed him clean.
When they were done, everyone was shocked at the fact that Jake suddenly went from being so weak they had to treat him like an infant to being as strong as a child now, and they honestly had no words since the man himself did not realize there was any change in his body.
Realizing they basically had the only real threat to the monsters, as all the others that could fight the monster hoards were far too busy keeping whatever pack of non-monster kin they were looking after to fight back.
But at the same time, he was basically a newborn baby who had no knowledge of anything about himself, where he came from, or even how messed up the world has truly become over the years of the monster ravaging all of the western half of the world or at least the lands connected to America.
With this heavy weight on his shoulders, the boss of the place tried to figure out what the best plan of action for his people, the world, and for Jake was since no choice was a good choice, as he knew he'd have to sacrifice at least one of them to help the others.
Lucky for him, however, he didn't really have to make that choice, as when he turned around to either mull his options over some more or maybe he already came to a decision, Jake wasn't anywhere to be found, as he had left.
Or rather, he was thrown out by the people wearing nurse hats, aka things with a bloody cross on them, since that's the best they could do to differentiate between everyone else and the medical staff.
Jack: "Where's Jake? (Looks around frantically.) Do either of you know where he went?"
Male Nurse: "Uh... we might have (plays with his hands) sort of... accidentally."
Female Goth Nurse: "We threw him away with all the other crap no one cares about. He was coated in monster blood, and we feared a transformation like last time."
Jack: "DAMN IT! (Slams his fist so hard it becomes a bit bigger.) The kid doesn't even know how to read the sighs like we do!"
Female Goth Nurse: "Too bad for him. I know he can't remember anything, but I'd rather risk basic procedure dooming us in some way than us taking a chance with a wild card that may get us all killed sir (she says with sass)!"
Jack charges up to her and just wags a finger as he seems to contemplate something but eventually just groans and backs away.
Jack: "You're lucky I like you!"
Female Goth Nurse: "(Clicks tongue) I know. Plenty of guys do."
The Male Nurse just wonders what the heck was going on as the Female Goth Nurse just pats his chest, and the two get back to work making sure their limited supplies is quick and easy to get along with, knowing just how much meds, bandages, and whatever vaccines and other drugs they could find.
Jake, meanwhile, was now inside the subway as the formerly secret A.I.M. or Hydra base has an emergency exit that led straight to some subway station that Jake doesn't know anything other than pain as he fell right on the train tracks.
Stumbling his way up the tracks, Jake sees what should be a horrifying scene of what little remains of the Avengers, as Cap's shield is embedded into a wall along with his body, Iron's armor along with parts of a skeleton are just thrown all over the place, and many other things that are hard to describe purely because most of the bodies were missing parts.
With no idea on what or who these skeletons are, Jake is immediately drawn to the shield and rips it out, not because he's strong but because time and monster blood are a good combination to kill most things that aren't considered God metals.
And now with shield in hand, Jake starts clutching the thing in the tightest hug imaginable as he creepily grins and just quietly chants.
Jake speaks like Gollum: "It's MINE!"
With zero idea on why he's doing it other than it just feels incredibly right and that it somehow brings him great joy and sense of fulfillment that can only come from going against someone's wishes.
And that is all for now I hope you all enjoyed and until next time stay safe and peace!
