The Amazing White-Spider

Negative Ten Part 3

Harry's gliding, Penny's driving, and Jake wonders just where the heck he is?

He looks around, and he can't seem to make out any of the street names, as they've been coated in Martin Li's powers or were destroyed and turned into lumps of metal with pulsing light and coiling darkness that made it seem something was living inside them.

Going through the streets, Jake looked around, as nothing about Li's powers seemed to work on him, as the veins that were spreading all over the place just ignored Jake as they spread over to anything else that was yet to be covered in the weird veins.

Spider-Woman was putting the pedal to the metal as the vines were going after her and her not-so-little buggy, with the veins already ripping off the top cage, doors, mirrors, and the license plate that was just for fun called "W38-H3AD."

Driving around the city was getting harder for her as the veins came from the sewers and were close to ripping her buggy in half or taking her into the old New York City or whatever all the villains of this damn city had done to it over the years.

Spider-Woman: "Just where the heck is Martin Li!? And how can I get him to stop this before it goes too far!?"

Harry was flying over the city as best he could with a possibly barely functional glider thing he jury-rigged into existence.

He was desperately searching for his father as he quickly realized he didn't really know his father, as the only places he searched were his office, home, second home, lab, Alchemax, or the city hall, and none of those places were special enough that only he knew about them.

As all of those locations were the first places Martin Li had attacked and, as Harry recalls, were always the first places to be hit whenever someone from his father's past seemed to be going after him, like Doc Ock, Sandman, Scorpio, and Electro.

Harry: "Have... have I ever truly known my father?"

While Harry was pitying himself, his glider finally died, and he began free-falling through the sky as the adrenaline started pumping through his body, and he began feeling more alive than he'd ever felt, as well as an annoying laugh echoing through his ears.

Harry lands on the ground just like all the superheroes he looked up to when he was growing up, and he wonders just why the heck he is okay.

Harry: "I just fell five stories... so how am I okay?"

Intense, crazed laughter followed Harry along no matter where he went, and this further drove him crazy as he got angrier every second that passed until he finally looked at a blue mirror with some black webbing that was decaled on it, and Harry realized the noise was always coming from him.

Throwing the mirror as far away as he possibly could, which was far greater than he thought possible, to the point he was certain he'd make some old pros he knows cry either from shame or pride over Harry being able to do that over his frail body.

But that still didn't explain what was going on with him, nor why his ears were slightly pointed, eyes slanted, and teeth sharp, and a strength he's only had in his dreams was now apparently a reality for him.

This newfound strength was similar to the symbiotes, from what he remembers of the reports the security guards gave before they were all brutally murdered over the radio, causing Harry to have panic attacks the entire time and still have occasional nightmares about the incident.

For some reason, however, for the first time ever, Harry feels nothing. He feels no care, sympathy, fear, or anything he usually felt when he thought back to those horrific voices that day, but now with how little he cares about anything anymore scares Harry more than the memory ever could.

Jake was walking through the twisted city and all the black, white, and black & white figures that were completely absorbed by Martin Li's powers, and it seemed far too peaceful to Jake.

Everyone was acting like they were in an ancient cartoon, as everyone was way too polite and didn't seem to argue or get into anything heated, as whenever it seemed like they were about to, they just got up and went to the bathroom for a bit.

Following after a couple of them, Jake finds they were all crying inside the bathrooms more than actually using them, which just weirded Jake out as he wondered even more about what was going on with Martin Li for this to be his "paradise."

Jake: "If this is what's considered heaven, then I'm fine going to hell like the sinner I am."

Ekaj: "(Slow claps and weeps) Ah, I'm so proud of my boy. Finally realizing just how much he doesn't care about others."

Jake: "Shut up. I still care for other people; it's just..."

Ekaj: "This place is utterly silent and is somehow worse than the Symbiote War of fighting against Ta'Challa's security."

Walking further down the street and up the pointless steps in the center, Jake takes a seat on them and starts looking through all the footage of the day Martin Li was first spotted and all other recordings that he could find on the same day.

The process took twenty-five minutes, as there were far too many videos in New York City alone being recorded at the time, and most of them were pointless, but thankfully there was just barely enough footage from multiple people that Jake reconstructed the site in an augmented world.

A purple fog spreads from Jake's legs across the entire place as far as he could see, which seemed to cause everything to darken as small light purple fireflies from the fog spread into constellation forms and then into look-alikes of the people.

Looking around, Jake sees pause, play, fast-forward, and reverse symbols hovering over his knuckles for each of his fingers, and any time he moved the finger down, it would affect the video, which was very annoying to get used to, but he had enough time.

Watching through everything, Jake finds out that nobody knows where the heck Martin Li went after his first and, so far, only appearance, as after moving things around, Jake was staring at the very second Martin Li unleashed his powers, as it's also the same time he vanished.

Jake: "Where the heck did you go?"

Penny finished driving around and pulled her buggy over and helped a strange man who looked no more than sixteen years old but somehow had a five o'clock shadow and hair long enough it could be made into a ponytail.

Spider-Woman: "When are you going to wake up, kid? I need to know what you do, as you're the only person I found that's both alive and that the veins don't seem to attack."

Penny places the man on a couch from a random home that was open thanks to Penny's strength as she placed the man on the couch, and after placing a blanket over him, Penny ran straight towards the garage to mess with her web shooters, as they seem to be acting up.

Harry, meanwhile, had been following a trail of letters, emails, and pinged cell phone calls to find an abandoned building that looks like it used to be a candy factory of some kind.

Harry: "Please don't be evil, Dad. This is just screaming villain's lair... or even a superhero's lair, but given your personality, I don't think it's the latter."

Pushing the gate open, Harry is surprised it doesn't fall apart considering how much rust it seems to have, as well as a couple bolts missing from the hinges causing it to tilt too much to be good for the metal.

As Harry looks around the area, he sees so much untrimmed grass, roots, something that seemed to squish as the wind brushed past it, and something that growled as fiercely as any good guard dog.

Entering the building, the door creaked open louder than anything possibly should have ever been, which scared Harry greatly, as he didn't know what his father might be hiding if he was even hiding here.

Everything about this place just screamed there was a secret evil lair, as everything was abandoned, but upon closer inspection it was obvious they were being well maintained, as he couldn't find a single shred of dust, cobwebs, or rust beyond the outside gate.

Heck, Harry's fairly certain the glass was artistically broken to look abandoned, as he couldn't find any broken glass nor any sharp edges a broken window should have if time or someone broke it.

While walking, Harry just stopped in front of a normal-looking wall, but that's what he found strange, as the wall looked far too clean, as all the other walls had markings of drawings or something being torn off them, but this wall had nothing other than maybe specks of dust.

Pressing his hand on the wall, it, of course, glows into a square with smaller squares appearing as it forms a scanner that identifies and accepts Harry's handprints and fingerprints as the squeaky Mr. Clean clean wall opens, revealing an elevator.

Harry: "(Gulps) Please don't come down here, Dad. Or at least have a very convincing excuse."

Stepping into the elevator, it automatically closes the doors behind him, and the elevator begins descending all the way down into the abyss of this place as he feels a pang of guilt and fear looming over him the closer he gets to the bottom, along with a foreboding sense of familiarity.

Harry wonders if he's been here before as flashes of memory go through his head that make him feel like he's been here before, but in a stretcher, he seemed to be fighting against it along with the great fear he felt towards his father for the first time ever as he smiled like a demon.

And that is all for now hope you all enjoyed and until next time stay safe and peace!
