The Amazing White-Spider

Jake: "It's finally time."

Ekaj: "It's been quite a long time. I mean, there's no way you could fight it off any longer."

Jake: "(Sighs) I know, but it was so fun to be so free without having to worry about paying taxes or anything else my parents have to deal with."

Ekaj: "Yeah, but as a young man in the making, you have to finish school eventually."

Yes, it's that most wondrous time of the year. Back-to-school shopping for parents or anyone that wants to buy all of that for very cheap prices while usually being a relative hit or miss for the kids, as some love it and some dread going back, along with some dreading to come back but quickly loving it.

Jake didn't really care that much about school, as there wasn't much that he felt a real connection with, even though he was a straight B student with occasional C's, but that was usually when he was too busy to study or whenever he got distracted.

But at the same time, he enjoyed having an excuse to see his friends again and mess with the people he didn't really like that much, like Flash Thompson or Eddie Brock, which should be an interesting encounter as all three of them have symbiotes.

Something that brought a small tear to Jake's eye was that, unlike all the other times that came before, Haley seemed fine with Jake going to school. Probably because she was too preoccupied getting ready to go back to school physically for the first time in a very long time.

Which was very evident in how worried their parents were for her as they smothered her in love and questions as they loaded up her backpack so much; you'd think she was going out camping for weeks instead of just going back to middle school.

Jake found it all very funny as he chuckled, causing his little sister to pout as she blew a raspberry at him and went to school, as her best friends were waiting for her outside.

Compared to Haley, it seemed like his parents didn't care, as instead of hugs and questions, his father gave him a pat on the back while his mother gave him a tender and loving hug, but that was it as they happily waved him goodbye.

Jumping from the rooftops Jake made very good time, to the point he was able to stop a couple of muggers, grab a bite to eat, and even enact divine retribution on a couple of bank robbers, all while still managing to get to school in time to see the teachers setting up.

It was interesting to see how all the teachers fixed up their classrooms just a tad bit more, as it's the first class in a very long while, and they all seemed to want the first day to be as perfect as it possibly could be on his little perch.

Jake stands up and does a good stretch and then steps off the perch, falling all the way down to the ground, creating a small impact area as some cracks form in the sidewalk and a little on the building wall.

Hearing the people scream and panic makes Ekaj happy as he chuckles and smiles, hearing the poor bystanders think something was attacking them or something from space crash-landed in their city once again!

???: "Hey Jake? How've you been?"

Jake turns around and sees Gwen? Talking to him??? It's something that's so hard to understand. Jake freezes as he tries to process what was going on, then MJ appears and laughs as she hugs Gwen from behind.

MJ: "See, I told you that talking to him first would freak him out."

Gwen, seeming to have reached her limits, broke free from the hug and tried to hide behind her, which was never going to work, as Gwen was just a tad bit bigger than MJ, which made it impossible for her to ever succeed.

Jake playfully slapped their arms, as he was scared he might have gotten too strong to playfully punch them anymore.

The girl winced in pain for no more than a single second, but it was enough to strike great fear deep in Jake's heart as he realized that even if everything seemed to be the same on the surface, deep down inside he was never going to be the same again, even if he tried to hold back with all his might.

For now, he pretends everything is normal as he smiles and plays along, even though deep inside, he's a little sad to know his fun times are over unless he can meet someone that could match his strength.

???: "Sup, losers!"

One of the blond idiots screamed as, one after the other, they slapped Jake upside the head and then used him as a table as they tried hitting on Gwen and MJ, who neither seemed too fond of the brutes hurting their friend and interrupting their conversation.

Ekaj: "Kill them."

Jake thinks: "What?"

Ekaj: "You were thinking it just as I. It'd save us all the time and effort of pretending to be weak whenever they're around and would save us and others a lot of time."

Jake: "NO!"

Flash: "What was that?"

Flash squats down and looks Jake in the eyes with a fire in his eyes only seen on game day as Eddie holds him down with as much force and pressure as he possibly could, with both blond jocks looking as smug as they could.

Eddie: "Go on. Say it again. What do you mean by no? We're just having a nice chat over here, and you're the one making it a problem."

Flash gets up and taps Eddie on the shoulder as Penny runs over, seeming ready to fight the two over hurting Jake.

Flash: "Let's go, man. A man who has to rely on others to save himself, especially women, isn't a man; he's a boy!"

Jake glares at him for that statement, as do the girls, but Jake's was just a bit different, as Ekaj was also there glaring at them with desire, a desire to fight and kill them both, as it sees no purpose in letting them live for even a second longer.

Feeling this, Jake immediately moved his head away from them, causing them to think he's even more of a weakling than they originally thought, and left while chuckling to themselves, with Jake most likely being the butt of many jokes.

The girls help Jake up as Harry finally arrives and is trying his best to not attract any unwanted attention, as he's afraid of how everyone might react after the news of his home getting raided by the police.

Meeting his friends brought him some light and joy, as if anyone was going to treat him normally, it'd be the people he's the closest with, but that happiness quickly fades as he only has enough time to say hi before the class bell rings.

Jake: "(Grabs Harry's leg) Don't worry, man, if you ever need anything, we're here for you."

The girls all cheer as they rush over and hug Harry and even pet his head, which makes him happy as it reminds him of his mother back when he was little.

Holding back tears in his eyes, Harry got up and took a single step... and then immediately fell onto the floor as Jake held onto Harry's leg as firmly as he could, as Jake wasn't going to let him go anywhere until he got a hug from his best friend.

Jake: "You sure you're okay? I mean, you can tell any of us, me especially, if anything's wrong."

Harry: "(Grunts) It's okay. I'm alright."

Jake wasn't buying it but had to let go, as there was nothing he could do if he was too afraid or had too much ego to even try to ask his closest friends for help.

The rest of the school day was fairly normal, as nothing truly noteworthy happened other than every school in New York not being able to be taken online as a way to help kids learn even after an invasion of war destroyed the schools.

Principle over speaker: "(Static) Thanks to the combined help of Oscorp and Stark Industries, every child from the ages of ten and up will be mailed a tablet thing only when they are needed! They will become your desks for all your classes next time the school gets attacked, so we should give our thanks and be honored to be the first city to have such an amazing device! (Static)"

Now after school was completely different, as Flash and Eddie had somehow managed to drag Jake away from everyone and to the back of the school, where they were ready to throw down.

Jake cracks his knuckles and neck as the three idiots start fighting each other, with Eddie throwing a right hook as Flash goes for the legs. Jake jumps up, then off Flash's back as he backflips onto the school wall and uses it to launch himself right at Eddie's neck.

Forcing Eddie down, Jake quickly turns his heel and faces Flash as he starts punching him over and over again as fast as he can as Jake eats the punches, not because he wants to but because Flash... just can.

It's hard to understand what the heck was going on, as Jake knows he's not the fastest, as he's yet to consume some speedy guy's blood, but just how the heck is Flash this darn fast?

Sure, Black symbiotes can merge the powers of everyone connected, but there should only be two people left with a Black symbiote. Eddie and Flash, with one of them being knocked clean out while the other seems to be getting faster every second that passes!

Things take a quick turn when Flash kicks Jake in the gut hard enough for him to fall back and trip over Eddie's body, knocking him into the fenced gate.

Ekaj: "Let me fight! I can win this!"

Jake's thoughts: "No! I DO NOT WANT TO HURT THEM!"

Ekaj: "DO IT!"

Jake: "NO!"

Flash: "Quit talking AND FIGHT, PRETTY BOY!"

Jake and Ekaj watch as the punch gets closer and closer to their face as Flash punches them as hard as he could, with Jake probably getting a black eye later, but Ekaj took this time to grow a fist from the stomach and give him a gut punch.

Flash drops to his knees, and Jake takes this time to kick his face with his leg, knocking him to the side hopefully knocking him out as Jake slumps down and sighs as he spits on the ground and takes a breather.

Jake: "What now?"

Ekaj: "What else? We go home and pretend like nothing happened as hard as we can and ignore this mess."

Jake nods his head and pats his back and knees off and starts walking home, making sure to take his bag with him, as he doesn't want to leave any sort of evidence he might have been here, and then quickly runs all the way back home.

Haley had an amazing day at school, where she had lots of fun with her friends, and for the first time enjoyed an outing without her family being around her and even seemed to be at peace.

This was a huge step for the family, and everyone scurries around the place since it was time to CELEBRATE! Mom runs off to get some pizza and chips for everyone while Jake and their father get to work making all kinds of cupcakes, even if there were still a lot from the party.

But cold cupcakes wouldn't do for Haley finally getting back to her normal life! It's been so long since Jake and Haley had to experience that day, and only now are they finally starting to heal... albeit in completely different ways.

With Haley actually trying to forget about her fears and experience life again, while Jake was slowly getting swallowed by the darkness till he eventually got used to it and embraced it as something that's a part of him and using it as fuel to fight for a better world!
