Final Days
When a man constantly battles with barely any time for rest, they learn to take a few-second naps wherever they can, along with eventually becoming used to having to eat and drink in front of whatever's trying to kill them.
This was the case with Jake and Ekaj, as whenever they had a second to drink some liquid pack or eat some bar, balls, or whatever was sent through the tubes for him to eat as some makeshift MREs that didn't need any waiting, as you just needed to open them to eat.
When it came time to sleep, Jake would switch with Ekaj and vice versa whenever Ekaj would finally reach his limits, as both of them learned they could only stay up indefinitely only when they weren't in charge of the body; otherwise, they had maybe a max of twelve hours before needing to rest.
But it was all worth it... well, for Jake it was, as he has learned how to use his powers more effectively. As he and Ekaj started trying to figure out different ways to use the powers, they "collected" from all the DNA they absorbed.
Which wasn't a whole lot, mind you, as most of the things Jake or Ekaj had eaten were very normal people, and since he didn't have the black symbiote yet, they did nothing to strengthen or enhance his abilities any further than the white symbiote already had.
The only powers that Jake and Ekaj seemed to come up with, besides fusing the energy fist and the hard body from the Black man, were a triple fusion of both of them and Mr. Fantastic's powers to create a giant flail that gets stronger every time he misses.
As Jake stood on top of the final giant robot's body, he stumbled out of the room and passed out in Black Widow's and Hawkeye's arms, who had just happened to pass by after mock battling one another without even attempting to hold back at all.
Hawkeye: "Whoa there, kid. Looks like you need a break."
Black Widow: "And a long one from how he smells."
The two agents throw Jake onto his bed in his room, which has since been claimed as a shared bed, table, or just anything any of them wanted, as they didn't believe he'd ever return to use his bed, and when all his fellow trainees saw him lying in his bed, they could not believe it was him.
Thankfully Ava was there to help since the only other person he even knew the name of just didn't care about him or anyone else in his group... which was a bit odd when he couldn't find them, as well as with everyone not even daring to mention their name.
It was then revealed to him that Lala was just on a mission and that it was basically 007-style top secret, where none of them were to say or do anything that might somehow get other people to realize that she was a part of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Jake and Ekaj both thought this was just a bunch of bullcrap, but if those were the orders from Nick Fury, then there wasn't anything else any of them could do as they tried their best to accept their orders.
Nick Fury over the speakers: "Mr. Long, I'd appreciate it if you could come to my office."
Jake just groans as he gets up off his bed and makes his way towards Nick Fury's office, where Agent Coulson was also waiting for him. Both of them offered him to take a seat, and the second he did, he felt shackles latch onto his hands and feet.
Jake: "What the!?"
Nick Fury: "Calm down, son. You're about to see something that only I and Mr. Coulson know of."
Agent Coulson turns the blinds and makes it impossible to look in while Nick Fury takes something out of a safe, then a locked box, then another smaller locked box that can only be opened like a Rubik's Cube, and finally an even smaller box that requires Nick Fury's fingerprint.
Nick Fury: "I've seen your skills, and while at the moment you're not exactly someone I'd want to know or even hold this. Your future is something that I'm betting on."
Nick Fury takes out a sphere and then unwraps it, revealing a very bright and glowing purple gem.
Nick Fury: "You don't need to know what this is other than that it's one of the most dangerous things in the universe and that I want you to be the safe house for this thing. If you accept this task, boy. (Gently places his hand on Jake's shoulder) You can never tell a soul about this, as well as figure out a way to make sure no one can ever possibly manage to unleash it or accidentally grab it."
Jake: "I... promise."
Nick Fury presses a button on his desk that frees Jake from his shackles, and he immediately eats the purple gem, with Ekaj grabbing it and somehow placing it in the deepest pits inside their mental or possibly soul room.
But that wasn't it, as Ekaj had created a massive pit where it's located at the bottom, with a large altar room being created over it where there was an arch doorway for every symbiote he had, with only white and black being opened/activated.
Back in reality everyone was shocked over what they had just seen but quickly got over it as they didn't really care so long as the purple gem was gone and practically impossible to get or even look for.
Nick Fury: "Thank you. With this, your graduation and everyone else's is just around the corner, and while you agreed to work only part-time after the training, I just have to ask you to keep your guard up, as if you do a good enough job keeping the gem safe, we may ask you to hold other things.... Is that okay with you?"
Jake: "Eh (shrugs), sure, I mean it's not like it's going to do any real harm to me, nor does it seem like it's going to affect me."
Both Nick Fury and Coulson just stare at Jake with disbelief over what they just heard but just decide to forgive and forget it all as they let Jake leave so he and everyone can get ready for their graduating mission a week from now.
Agent Coulson: "Sir, are you sure it was alright to give him the item?"
Nick Fury: "(Opens his drawer and pulls out a small tube with a red light) No idea, but neither will we."
