Marvel: God of Spotlight, The Homelander

Chapter 545 Don’t be careless

Proxima Midnight had gradually regained her strength by this point.

The next second, she slapped Steve Rogers’s hand away, steadied herself against a protruding rock, and stood up shakily.

Steve didn’t mind.

He smiled slightly, took two steps back, and reached out to remove the Vibranium shield from his back, tossing it casually to his feet.

He then flexed his wrists, assumed a standard boxing stance, and said with a light smile, "So... shall we continue?"

Proxima Midnight took a long look at Steve. She did not respond to his challenge but slowly raised her right hand.

"I forfeit the match."

The entire arena erupted in an uproar.

The Grandmaster’s dramatic voice rang out: "Oh! A shocking turn of events! The most formidable female warrior among the Black Order has actually chosen to yield! Let us congratulate the representative from Earth... Captain America Steve Rogers!"

On the holographic screen in the arena, the numbers flickered and changed to one-to-one.

Steve unclenched his fists, dropped his stance, smiled sincerely, and said, "Thank you. That was a wonderful duel."

Proxima Midnight snorted coldly, ignoring Steve’s thanks.

She turned around decisively and walked toward the Portal.

Just as she was about to step into the light screen, her footsteps faltered slightly. Without looking back, she left behind a cold remark.

"Steve Rogers, I will remember this."

"We are not finished yet..."

Steve shook his head with a helpless smile and replied, "I’ll be waiting anytime."

As his voice faded, Proxima Midnight’s figure vanished into the Portal.

Afterward, he bent down to pick up the Vibranium shield, brushed the dust off it, and strapped it back onto his arm.

As he turned and walked toward the transport channel belonging to the Earth faction, thunderous applause erupted from the arena’s spectator stands.

Clapping, continuous and unending.

Although many of them were still cursing Proxima Midnight for making them lose large sums of capital, everyone who witnessed the heaven-defying reversal of that battle was captivated by the charisma of this Earth warrior.

"Is this really the wisdom of a primitive, backward Planet? I retract my previous words about looking down on humans; he is simply a natural-born tactical master!"

"It’s not just the tactics, but that demeanor! I feel like I’m seeing Boss Starhawk in him!" a Raider said reverently.

Meanwhile, Earth’s global live broadcast room had turned into an ocean of joy.

"Did you see that? Aliens! This is the strength of Captain America!"

""I can do this all day!" Once that line came out, even if God came, He would have to take two slaps!"

"Where are those people who were badmouthing the Captain earlier? Come out and watch the stream on your knees!"

"I was young and ignorant before, but now I am a dog for Vought! Woof!"

Homelander also smiled as he accepted this substantial share of the popularity earnings.

As expected of Steve; this kind of charisma, radiating a righteous glow, is always a sharp weapon for harvesting fans.

He didn’t even need to step into the arena himself; he could make a fortune just by sitting in the back.

This feeling of being the boss behind the scenes was quite wonderful.

Unlike the joy on the Earth side.

On Thanos’s staging platform, Proxima Midnight knelt on one knee on the cold floor, her head bowed deeply, saying nothing.

Mephisto, standing to the side, seized the opportunity to mock again: "Hahaha! Great Overlord of the Universe, is this your most capable member of the Black Order?"

"To think she was taken down by a human holding nothing but an iron plate? Even more ridiculous is that she actually accepted charity from the enemy. If this spread to Hell, my little imps would laugh for three centuries."

Ebony Maw’s face was terrifyingly gloomy. He stepped forward, preparing to teach this rude Lord of Hell a lesson.

Thanos raised his hand, stopping Ebony Maw’s action.

Then, pointing at Proxima Midnight, he said, "Take her away..."

On the Earth faction’s platform, a flash of light passed.

Steve Rogers walked out with long strides.

Tony Stark was the first to greet him. Although he was still flippant with his words, the admiration in his eyes could not be hidden.

"Look who’s back? Our Brooklyn soldier, the master of geometry."

"Honestly, Rogers, I’ll have to have Jarvis calculate the formula for that continuous trajectory change you did with your shield at the end."

"Just lucky, Tony." Steve smiled modestly and took the vought functional drink handed to him by Homelander.

After resting for a moment.

It was time for the selection phase of the third match.

The Grandmaster’s urging voice rang out in the arena once again.

Homelander stood up with a smile, flipped his wrist, and the bamboo stick cylinder appeared in his hand again.

Seeing Steve return with honors, Thor was already so envious he was scratching his ears and cheeks.

He strode forward and reached out to grab the cylinder.

"Oh, it’s definitely my turn this time!" Thor shouted confidently, "My great axe is already thirsting for battle!"

But at the very moment Thor’s hand was about to touch the bamboo sticks, Homelander pulled the cylinder back.

He feigned regret and said, "Thor, I appreciate your enthusiasm. But given that you damaged my precious bamboo sticks in the last round, you are disqualified from drawing this round."

"What?!" Thor was struck by lightning, frozen in place. He hurriedly leaned forward, trying to salvage the situation: "Wait, Homelander! My good brother! That was just an accident! You know, the power of a god is always hard to control perfectly!"

Tony didn’t care about all that; he took the opportunity to bypass him and reached his hand into the cylinder.

A bamboo stick carved with the word "Glory" was pinched between his fingers.

"Look, destiny has turned to me, boys." Tony waved the bamboo stick in front of Thor and said triumphantly, "The third match will be won by the great scientist, philanthropist, and super genius—Tony Stark."

Peter Parker stood in the back, muttering with an unwilling face: "Mr. Tony always has such good luck. I bet the destiny for the next round will definitely be me."

"Don’t dream about it, kid." Tony ruffled Peter’s hair with annoyance. "Leave the life-and-death stuff to the adults. You should just honestly save your energy and wait to go back to Earth to take your final exams. How about I throw you a consolation party then?"

The little Spider immediately pulled a long face and sighed heavily.

He had followed Homelander into the most top-tier gladiatorial arena in the Universe, and he didn’t want to end up without even getting a chance to show his face on stage.

At this moment, Sorcerer Ancient One, who had been standing to the side with her eyes closed, opened her eyes.

She walked forward slowly and said to Tony in a deep voice, "Mr. Stark, do not be careless."

"I must remind you that your armor is inscribed with trigger-based Rune runes."

"Therefore, I cannot cast a Protection Charm or a Substitute Charm on you, otherwise it will cause magic interference."
