Chapter 35- Countless Murderous Gazes
Upon seeing Su Jin’s reaction, Hong Mei pursed her beautiful lips and continued.
“Junior Brother Su Jin, don’t misunderstand. I am not insulting you. I just want to know why you refuse to become my Dao Companion. You can make the excuse that our ages are too different, but I was trapped inside that Extreme Ice when I was fourteen. I had no awareness during that time, so despite the amount of time that has past, I am still the same as I was before I was sealed.”
Hong Mei looked at Su Jin and said in a sad tone.
“Junior Brother Su Jin, I know it can’t possibly be because of this that you rejected me, and I’ve investigated everyone you know and determined you don’t have someone else you like. Since my looks aren’t that bad, and my talent is even more outstanding than your older brother, the only issue I can think of as to why you still won’t accept me is that my gender is the thing that’s wrong. Junior Brother Su Jin, I’m right, aren’t I?”
Su Jin recovered slightly from his shock, but his scalp still went numb when he heard that Hong Mei had even investigated the people around him.
“I—”
Su Jin wanted to speak, but upon meeting Hong Mei’s gaze, his voice got stuck in his throat. As if scorched by something, he hurriedly looked away.
Only after a moment did Su Jin grit his teeth and made up his mind.
“That’s right.”
Turning to meet Hong Mei’s gaze directly, Su Jin added in a serious tone.
“Elder Hong Mei, it’s not that I dislike you, it’s just that I always thought that my Dao Partner would be someone outstanding and heroic... Someone just like my older brother.”
Hong Mei met Su Jin’s serious gaze, and the two youths stared at each other like that for what felt like a long time.
However, Su Jin keenly detected something in Hong Mei’s eyes. He could almost see something slowly boiling in her eyes, and second by second that something was starting to become scorching.
Alarm bells immediately rang in Su Jin’s mind while a cold chill went down his spine.
“Hong Mei, don’t...!”
Su Jin cried out to stop her, but it was to no avail.
Hong Mei quickly made her move.
With eyes burning with desire, she began ripping at Su Jin’s clothes. Her voice, which was calm to the point that it was terrifying, rang out in this isolated area of the forest.
“Junior Brother Su Jin, I’ve known since the beginning that you greatly admired your brother, but I thought my sincerity could move you. I’ve even dressed the part this time to suit your taste, but you still refuse me. But don’t worry, once I’ve given you a taste of a woman, you’ll definitely accept me wholeheartedly.”
Upon hearing this, Su Jin wanted to cry. Just how did he managed to get entangled with this crazy woman? Even using his brother as an excuse didn’t work! Really, it wasn’t that he didn’t like beautiful girls as well, it’s just that he didn’t like beautiful girls that were crazy!
Su Jin’s cries and pleas echoed in this dark area of the forest, but Hong Mei had already used her Soul Emergence Realm Divine Soul to prevent the noise from drifting to the disciples’ encampment.
Su Jin was only in the middle-stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm; there was no way he could resist Hong Mei who was already at the Soul Emergence Realm.
However, just as Su Jin was becoming desperate to protect his purity, a loud commotion came from the direction of the disciples’ encampment.
....
...
..
In the space between the disciples’ encampment and the edge of the forest, violent spatial ripples spread out.
The disciples some distance away all stopped what they were doing and looked over just in time to see a massive white Spirit Beast appearing out of thin air.
They were so shocked by this a few of them stood up and stumbled back in a panic. This then triggered a wave of commotion among the other disciples, which was what the two youths in the forest had heard.
Amidst the disciples’ noisy commotion, Xai Lin, who was sitting on the ground, stiffly scanned her surroundings. She realized they had appeared in a rather dangerous spot.
Just as Xai Lin wanted to make a move to retreat into the forest nearby, An Mo suddenly poked his head out of her baby pouch.
“Xai-xai, have we escaped the Demonic Realm? Is this the Human Realm?”
An Mo’s voice was rather loud due to his excitement. He couldn’t help it, after all, he had finally left that place where he was trapped for fifteen years. Now that he had escaped, and had even found someone he loved, he felt like those fifteen years of isolation were worth it.
However, as An Mo was looking around wanting to see what the Human Realm was like, he suddenly met the gazes of several hundred unfamiliar humans.
The disciples had somewhat recovered from their initial panic at this Spirit Beast’s appearance, and were initially just vigilantly observing it, but upon seeing An Mo’s appearance, and especially hearing his words, they began to stir once again.
“Hey, that Spirit Beast can actually talk!”
“Yeah, but wait, did it just mention the Demonic Realm?”
“Strange, why does it look so familiar?”
“Right? I thought it looked familiar too, but I don’t remember ever seeing a Spirit Beast like that before. It should be a monkey-type Spirit Beast, right?”
“Yeah, it should be judging by its appearance.”
“Wait! Didn’t Senior Brother Sikong mentioned that the Spirit Beast who defeated him could shapeshift, and one of its forms was an orange monkey?”
“Ah! Now that you’ve mentioned it, he did say something like that...”
As the Earthly Spear Immortal Sect disciples continue to chatter, their gazes towards these two unknown Spirit Beasts slowly started to change.
Some were filled with suspicion, while others were filled with blatant murderous intent.
Out of nowhere, a disciple abruptly spoke.
“Hey, I think that monkey Spirit Beast just claim to have escape the Demonic Realm.”
“Yeah, I also heard it called that panda Spirit Beast Xai-xai. Could it be short for something?”
“Heh. It’s probably short for Xai Lin, isn’t it?”
Suddenly, a dead silence fell over the disciples, with all of them just staring at An Mo and Xai Lin with cold expressions.
This was the exact moment An Mo met their countless murderous gazes, and his scalp couldn’t help but instantly become numb.
Xai Lin’s reaction wasn’t too different; her entire body became tense under the gazes of so many people. Going by a rough estimation, there should at least be over a thousand disciples gathered here.
Even though none of them had cultivation bases above the Foundation Establishment Realm, being stared at by so many people with murderous intent would scare anyone silly.
For a moment, a suffocating silence fell over the encampment with neither An Mo nor Xai Lin daring to breathe too loudly.
Only after a few seconds when this tense atmosphere reached its peak did someone in the crowd suddenly let out a heaven shaking roar.
“Give me back my treasure you dog thief!”
Almost immediately after this shout was heard, several more followed. Then, with bloodshot eyes, the disciples who had long been suppressing their anger to the point of madness, exploded. Countless flying weapons of all kinds, along with numerous Daoist Spells flew towards An Mo and Xai Lin at the center of the clearing, with heaven-shaking momentum.
