Chapter 36- No Objections!
“Damn it!”
An Mo cursed aloud before quickly reacting by climbing out of Xai Lin’s pouch. At the same time Xai Lin reverted back to her human form, but she took on the appearance of a rather ordinary-looking youth.
An Mo landed next to her and immediately scooped her up in a bridal carry. Just as the Daoist Spells were about to land on top of their heads, An Mo’s figure lunge forward towards the forest on the other side of the clearing.
This caused the ground to crack into fissures for several meters beneath his feet, which goes to show how violent and urgent his actions were.
As soon as An Mo left that area, the Daoist Spells came crashing down, further destroying the ground and causing large boulders to shot up into the air along with a cloud of dust.
A shockwave also spread out from the area of impact and quickly caught up to An Mo and Xai Lin, but An Mo tightly embraced Xai Lin and took the brunt of the shockwave. Thankfully, he had managed to react in time and leave the center of the attack, and his current Divine Monkey King form offset the shockwave.
However, the attacks from the enraged disciples were not over. The light from the missed Daoist Spells had lit up this entire clearing, but just as the light was beginning to fade, several colorful streaks of light appeared once more.
Various flying weapons from the disciples swerved around to avoid the explosion of the Daoist Spells and then converge on An Mo and Xai Lin. Due to their large numbers and the constant buzzing sounds they emitted; one would get the illusion that they were a swarm of man-eating insects.
An Mo’s expression tightened, but he did not panic. With a thought, a pair of large black wings tore through the clothes on his back and spread out.
An Mo’s golden eyes then looked toward the distant sky over the forest in front of him. In the next moment, his figure vanished; leaving behind a cluster of black feathers.
The flying weapons, which were just a few meters away, came to a screeching halt due to their targets suddenly disappearing.
Upon witnessing this scene, the disciples almost coughed up blood from anger.
“There they are above the forest!”
One disciple’s voice, which was amplified by their Spiritual Qi, echoed far and wide so most of his fellow disciples could hear him.
Immediately, everyone turned their gazes to look in the air above the Crescent Moon Forest, and sure enough they saw those abhorrent people.
An Mo, who had escaped from danger, couldn’t help but look back at the red-faced disciples and breathe a sigh of relief.
Turning to look at Xai Lin in his arms, he smiled and was about to speak, however, Xai Lin’s expression suddenly changed and she hurriedly yelled.
“Dodge!”
An Mo didn’t even wait for Xai Lin’s voice to fall; he had already reacted after seeing her expression change.
With a violent twist of his body, he shifted with Xai Lin to the right. Just as he shifted, a tearing sound was heard cutting the void next to him.
If felt like an invisible sword had just swept pass them.
However, even though An Mo had successfully dodged this terrifying sword strike, the residual energy it emitted still cut several bloody slashes into his left shoulder and black wing, which didn’t manage to make it out of its range in time.
Golden blood seeped from the small slashes on An Mo’s shoulder, soaking his clothes, while the slashes on his wings dyed his black feathers with streaks of gold.
When Xai Lin’s saw that An Mo had actually been injured, her expression darkened. But worry also sprung up in her heart.
Not to mentioned that An Mo was in his Divine Monkey King form, the fact that his wounds had not immediately healed made it clear how terrifying that sword strike was.
‘Sword Intent!’
This conclusion came to Xai Lin, and her darken expression turn even more grim.
‘Since when did the Earthly Spear Immortal Sect had someone who comprehended Sword Intent?’
As this question surface in Xai Lin’s mind, she didn’t have to recall the characters in the book, as An Mo had already turned to face the figure who was slowly floating up from the forest below.
Upon seeing the appearance of this person, Xai Lin’s eyebrows twitched.
‘Damn it, how could I forget about this crazy girl?’
Xai Lin cursed internally in her heart. She had immediately recognized this girl who was dressed as a boy from Sikong’s story arc. Her character was quite prominent as she was the former Holy Saintess of the Earthly Spear Immortal Sect, who had the Extreme Ice Dao Body.
If it weren’t for the fact that Sikong had obtained the Chaos Tower in the Silver Moon Secret Realm, he would have had to concede his position after she had woken up.
Thinking up to here, Xai Lin recalled a plot point for this crazy girl, and she couldn’t help cursing once more.
Glancing at the forest below where Hong Mei was floating up from, she figured that poor kid must be in a dishevel state at the moment. She just didn’t know if their appearance had interrupted a would-be assault, or if it had already happened.
Xai Lin’s gaze moved from the forest below and landed on Hong Mei, who had stopped a distance away from them.
Upon seeing that she had not attacked them again, Xai Lin’s eyes flickered, before she subtly moved her finger to write on An Mo’s chest.
An Mo split a part of his attention to focus on Xai Lin’s little actions, while coldly glaring at Hong Mei.
Hong Mei, in response, did a once over at An Mo’s appearance before raising her eyebrows slightly. Then, her voice traversed the distance to reach An Mo’s ears.
“A Spirit Beast who has gain intelligence despite only being in the early stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm is indeed rare. How about becoming my pet Spirit Beast? I will certainly not treat you unfairly.”
Xai Lin’s actions of writing on An Mo’s chest couldn’t help but pause, before she turned her head to glare murderously at Hong Mei.
An Mo’s reaction wasn’t much better than her’s, he sneered at Hong Mei and said disdainfully.
“Heh. You have quite the guts. Do you think you’re worthy of becoming my master? Even if an Immortal appeared before me, they still wouldn’t have the qualifications to become my master.”
Upon hearing this, Hong Mei didn’t get angry but instead became intrigued. She had already seen that this Spirit Beast’s blood was golden and coupled that with his abnormal intelligence despite its low cultivation base, she had already had an idea of its true origin. Hearing its boastful claim at this moment, she couldn’t help but ask.
“Could it be that you are a genuine Divine Beast?”
The sneer on An Mo’s face couldn’t help but froze before he quickly shut his mouth. Looking at this human in front of him, he couldn’t help but start sweating a bit.
‘Were humans this terrifying?’
He had hardly said anything so how could she have figured out he was a true Divine Beast?
Xai Lin was also a bit taken aback by Hong Mei at first, but upon recalling her character description from the book, she realized this wasn’t out of the ordinary.
Not only was she extremely talented, but her intelligence was also frighteningly abnormal. In her past life, Xai Lin recalled that this girl was voted as one of the top female characters throughout the entire book series, who was no less inferior to those male protagonists. With only a few clues, it was not a surprise she could figure out An Mo’s true identity.
To add to this, Xai Lin figured her Extreme Ice Dao Body might have also played a significant role.
For people with one of the 116 known Dao Physiques, their perception and sensitivity were extremely keen. So, for Hong Mei, who possesses the 18th Ranked Dao Physique. the Extreme Ice Dao Body, she must have clearly sensed the bloodline aura on An Mo.
Upon seeing An Mo remaining silent, Hong Mei smiled playfully. She didn’t seem to be in a hurry to attack and instead wanted to converse.
However, in reality, she was not at all relaxed, and a part of her attention was on the forest below where Su Jin was hiding.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to attack, it was just that she was waiting for this Divine Beast to used that teleportation ability to leave this area. That way she could chase them down and attack them without any scruples.
From that one teleportation from before, she had already determined that he can only teleport as far as he could see. Given that was the case, Hong Mei was confident in catching these two villains and bringing them back to the Sect.
Thinking up to here, she became a bit excited. If she could retrieve the treasures stolen from the disciples, she could win the favor of everyone and gain a bit more confidence to propose a marriage to Su Jin with no objections!
