Heavenly Illusions

Chapter 29- Stop Acting Spoiled

“Hmph! While in my Divine Black Tortoise form, I can condense runes on my shell that can be used for defense, concealment, and sealing.”

Xai Lin recalled how she had been blasted away by An Mo back then and couldn’t help but ask.

“Are there any runes meant for attack?”

An Mo knew why Xai Lin asked that, so he shook his head and explained.

“No, back then, I just condense a lot of defensive runes and let them explode.”

“So, that was the case. But are you not afraid of blowing yourself up in the process?

Chuckling, An Mo said reassuringly.

“That won’t happen. My shell is strong enough to even withstand the chaotic spatial tears between the Dimensional Folds of the Demonic Realm. Compared to me purposely exploding a few runes, it’s nothing.”

Xai Lin thought about it and realize that was indeed the case. Without protection from a teleportation token, or a magical treasure, those spatial tears could even threaten a Soul Emergence Realm expert.

“As for my Qilin bloodline and my Divine Monkey King bloodline. My Qilin bloodline only has that ability to strip a cultivator of their cultivation base, and as a byproduct of that ability, I found that I can control the Spiritual Qi in the surroundings to a certain extent. Meanwhile, my Divine Monkey King bloodline has quite a few more.”

Hearing this, Xai Lin couldn’t help but perk up. Afterall, this was the myths she read in her past life coming to life.

However, she was bound to be disappointed.

Not noticing Xai Lin’s excitement, An Mo explained.

“In this form, I have a Diamond Body, which is impervious to weapons and all five elements. I’m also able to shrink and enlarge my body at will.”

After saying this, An Mo stopped talking.

Seeing that he had stopped, Xai Lin was stunned.

“Wait, that’s it?”

An Mo finally noticed Xai Lin’s odd eagerness regarding his Divine Monkey King’s Abilities. Thinking back to his Legacy Memories, indeed, he was supposed to have some impressive abilities.

For example, Immortal Breath. If he had this ability he could have healed Xai Lin when she was injured.

However, he still had one he hadn’t revealed yet. Not wanting to disappoint his Xai-xai, An Mo spoke up.

“No, I saved the best for last.”

After saying that, An Mo lifted his head from Xai Lin’s shoulder and plucked two strands of hair from atop his head. He then flicked his wrist and sent them drifting a few meters away.

Seeing this, Xai Lin’s eyes flickered in surprise.

What happened next was just as she had guessed. The two strands of orange hair, suddenly turned golden and then with a faint flash, slowly transformed into two figures identical to her and An Mo.

After the two clones appeared, they immediately started hugging each other.

“How shameless...”

“Hahaha...”

An Mo released a mischievous laugh upon hearing Xai Lin’s mutter, before he rested his head on her shoulder and let his gaze settle on their clones.

Xai Lin also began observing them, and soon she realized she could not see through them at all. Both their Soul fluctuations and aura were similar to their own.

“This will be extremely useful in the future.”

“Hm, I figured you would say that.”

An Mo smiled as he said this. But soon his mischievous streak kicked in again, and with a thought, the golden runes around his head that was in the form of a head band, glowed faintly. Following this, the two figures that were far away began to act more ambiguous.

Upon seeing this, rather than getting angry, Xai Lin laughed and said.

“Do you dare to let them go even further right here?”

An Mo immediately blushed when he heard that and quickly recalled the two clones.

After they disappeared in a burst of golden light, the two hairs reappeared. Their color had turned grey as they slowly drifted away in the breeze.

However, perhaps it was because of Xai Lin’s teasing words from just now, or maybe it was because of his complacency from knowing the person in his arms liked him and even loved to grope him, but An Mo boldly made a request at this time that stunned Xai Lin.

“Hey, Little Xai, since we’re already Dao Companions, it’s not too much to ask to see your body, right?”

Xai Lin nearly choked on thin air upon hearing such shameless words.

“You actually dare say such things?”

An Mo let go of Xai Lin and step back. Pouting his lips in dissatisfaction, he then complained.

“But it’s not fair for you to see mine, when I’ve barely saw yours!”

Xai Lin rolled her eyes at that.

“Alright, stop talking nonsense or I might have to hit you.”

“Hmph! How am I talking nonsense? Don’t think I don’t know how you’ve been coveting my body! It’s only fair if you compensate me by paying me back with your bo—”

Bang!

Before An Mo could finish his sentence, Xai Lin’s hand shot out and punched him, effectively cutting him off.

An Mo was sent flying away, but after falling onto the ground, he jumped up and angrily roared.

“Xai Lin! You actually broke my nose!”

Clutching his bleeding nose, An Mo angrily pointed at Xai Lin, who in turn rolled her eyes.

“Serves you right for acting so shameless.”

An Mo stomped back over while muttering.

“How am I being shameless? You’re the shameless one touching me however, and whenever you want.”

An Mo wasn’t actually that angry about being hit. He simply wiped the blood from his nose, which had already healed.

However, this didn’t stop him from using this to his advantage.

While wiping the blood from his nose, An Mo muttered once again.

“Xai Lin, you’re so heartless. You actually broke my nose. Is this how you treat your Dao Companion?”

Xai Lin looked at him, and folding her arms, she asked with a raised eyebrow.

“What did you say?”

An Mo pursed his lips.

“Nothing...”

After saying that, An Mo began brushing off the dirt and grass clipping on his clothes.

Watching An Mo’s performance, Xai Lin couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Now that we’re together, there needs to be some boundaries between us.”

Upon hearing that, An Mo didn’t stop his actions, but he still retorted.

“Doesn’t that mean we’ll be even more distant than we were before we became Dao Companions? If that’s the case, then we might as well go back to how we were before.”

Hearing this, Xai Lin knew this brat had started to sulk again. She had no choice but to coax him.

Reaching out to hug him, she said.

“Alright, alright. I won’t compromise on this matter, so stop acting spoiled.”

An Mo immediately returned Xai Lin’s hug and buried his face in the crook of her neck before rubbing it a few times as if to vent his frustration. Xai Lin could only indulge him, while smoothing out the fur on the back of his neck.
