Chapter 27- Flawed Legacy Memories
Thousands of kilometers away in the middle of the Wild Desert territory, a cluster of ghostly black fog appeared, scaring the scorpion Spirit Beasts underneath the sand. But before these poisonous Spirit Beasts could react to this presence, it vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving behind a spatial crack.
This ghostly black fog then reappeared between the border of the Wild Desert territory and the Great Forest territory, before vanishing once again.
With another two teleportations, the ghostly black fog reached the middle of the Great Forest territory, where the waterfall and the lake were.
By the bank of the lake, the ghostly black fog slowly dispersed to reveal An Mo and the others.
Xai Lin and Sikong had somewhat pale faces due to the continuous spatial travel, but An Mo’s face by comparison was even paler. Drawing on his other Divine Beast bloodlines to empower his Three-legged Divine Crow’s ability to teleport had not only exhausted his Spiritual Qi, but his mental strength was severely depleted as well. It took everything he had just to remain conscious.
Seeing this, Xai Lin hurriedly took out a white medicinal pill and fed it to him.
Compared to the blue high-grade medicinal pill she had used before, this one was a top-grade medicinal pill.
As a top-grade medicinal pill, its effect of healing injuries, and boosting mental and Spiritual Qi recovery was at least ten times more than the mid-grade medicinal pill.
For cultivators, it was almost akin to a second life. However, if you were not from a Sect with an Immortal Legacy, you would never be able to see one with your own eyes, much less get a chance to eat one.
Even Sikong, who was watching from the side, was slightly shocked when he saw Xai Lin take out such a pill just to treat Spiritual Qi and mental energy exhaustion. Even though he was from a Clan that had produced an Immortal, who then went on to form the Earth Spear Immortal Sect, that didn’t mean he could obtain the best cultivation resources in the cultivation world and carelessly give them to someone else.
Afterall, there was a hierarchy among Immortal Sects and Clans. For example, his Su Clan and Earthly Spear Immortal Sect only had the Immortal Legacy of a cultivator who had achieved Ascension cultivating the Spear Dao.
If they wanted to obtain high-grade medicinal pills, or high-grade Spiritual Treasures, they either had to cultivate Alchemists and Weapon Artifact Refiners from scratch or buy them from other Immortal Sects that had the legacy of a cultivator who had attained Immortality through alchemy and Weapon Artifact Refining. However, for top-grade medicinal pills and Spirit Treasures, even his Su Clan and Earthly Spear Immortal Sect felt like their hearts were bleeding when they had to buy them.
For him, who was the young master of the Su Clan and the Holy Son of the Earthly Spear Immortal Sect, getting one or two top-grade medicinal pills would be no problem. But no doubt when he returned, his family would flip out when they found out he had lost his top-grade sword. Especially his grandfather, who was an elder of the Earthly Spear Sect, he could already feel his butt hurting just thinking about it.
As Sikong was dazing out, Xai Lin took her worried gaze off of An Mo, who was resting his head on her shoulder, and turned to give Sikong a strange look.
“Are you not going to leave? Do you still have something to do here in the Demonic Realm?”
Sikong’s body jolted, and he instantly came back to reality.
That’s right! He should be fleeing right now!
“Ehem... Fellow Daoist Xai Lin, and fellow Daoist An Mo, I’ll take my leave now. If we were ever to meet in the future, I’ll offer you a cup of wine.”
Sikong seemed to return to the proud and composed demeanor of a talented young master as he turned to leave while waving his hand.
After lifting his head and watching Sikong’s figure disappear among the forest trees, An Mo released a disdainful snort before looking away. While wrapping his arms around Xai Lin’s waist, he went back to comfortably resting his forehead on her shoulder.
But even though he felt extremely pleased getting to hug Xai Lin, An Mo was almost too tired to enjoy it.
Seeing An Mo so listless that even his orange fur was becoming a bit duller, Xai Lin patted his back and urged him.
“Come on, circulate your Spiritual Qi. Only by circulating your Spiritual Qi would the medicinal pill digest faster and take effect.”
“Oh...”
An Mo began circulating his Spiritual Qi, and indeed he soon felt a warm current enter his dantian and his Sea of Consciousness. Almost immediately he felt his Spiritual Qi recovery speed increased by several fold, while the splitting headache he was feeling began to fade considerably. This made him release an involuntary sigh of relief.
Feeling the warm breath on her neck, Xai Lin furrowed her beautiful brows and said.
“There was no need for you to exhaust yourself to bring us back, we could have just traveled normally.”
“Hm... I was too excited at the thought that I’ll be able to leave with you, that I over did it a bit.”
“Tsk... You’re so impulsive.”
Hearing that, An Mo couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle, before pulling Xai Lin closer.
Xai Lin returned the hug, while absentmindedly pulling the fur on An Mo’s neck— which tickled him.
The two stayed like that for a moment before Xai Lin broke the silence.
“I wanted to ask you this before, but how many racial abilities do you have, and why are they so strange?”
Ever since Xai Lin found out that An Mo’s Three-legged Divine Crow form had the ability to teleport, she had been suppressing her confusion.
Wasn’t a Three-legged Divine Crow supposed to possess the ability to wield fire? How did it become teleportation?
That’s why she had initially thought An Mo was merely a Spirit Beast with Divine Beast bloodlines, and not an actual Divine Beast.
An Mo hesitated for a moment when he heard this question, before finally saying.
“Honestly, I’m also confused. My abilities are a bit different from my Legacy Memories, so I had to explore them on my own when I was younger.”
“Eh?”
Xai Lin let go of An Mo to look at him in surprise.
“Are you saying that your Legacy Memories are not only outdated, but completely wrong when it comes to your abilities?”
An Mo scratched his head and said awkwardly.
“Haha... It’s not completely wrong, the abilities from my Divine Monkey King form and Qilin form were explained. It’s just that some seemed to be missing.”
Xai Lin’s expression twisted for a moment when she heard that. She could guess that the cause of An Mo’s abilities being so different from those Divine Beasts within the Mountains and Seas Scripture was due to the mixture of so many Divine Beast Bloodlines, but what did it mean for his Legacy Memories to be completely different?
One should know that a Beast passing on their Legacy Memories was a very special racial talent, especially for a Divine Beast. It works by compressing that Divine Beast’s memories and experiences and then imprinting it into their offspring’s genes.
So, if the Legacy Memories from each of An Mo’s Divine Beast bloodlines were the original, while his abilities were different, that could only mean that whoever passed on those experiences and memories had never expected those bloodlines to mix and mutate beyond recognition.
No, Xai Lin even had the thought that those Divine Beast bloodlines should never have been combine together.
‘Could this brat be the experiment of some old monster?’
