Heavenly Illusions

Chapter 25- Heh. Is that So?

Xai Lin couldn’t help but sigh in her heart.

It wasn’t that she was afraid of offending Sikong, she just didn’t want to get entangled with the main protagonists. Of course, she had a belief that An Mo’s favor with the Heavenly Dao should be just as strong as those main protagonists, and he wouldn’t suffer any sudden backlash of karma as she feared.

But she was just too influenced by that book. Even though she had repeatedly told herself not to fully trust it, and just treat this world as a second life, her thoughts and actions would evidentially show that she hadn’t fully accepted this fact.

It wasn’t that she didn’t accept her current life, she quite enjoyed it despite the constant threat of the Heavenly Dao influencing her. She just felt that it was better to be safer than sorry.

Also, setting aside whether interfering with the main protagonists’ opportunities and going against them would bring bad karma or result in the Heavenly Dao’s dissatisfaction, this Sikong himself wasn’t so simple. Afterall, he still had that Spear Intent Imprint on him, so the best outcome was getting him to make that oath and going their separate ways, not further provoking him.

However, just as this thought crossed Xai Lin’s mind, a sudden sense of oppression fell on both her and An Mo’s shoulders.

Their gazes immediately darted to the center of the pit where Sikong was, and there they saw him floating up from the ground with the help of what seemed to be the spiritual projection of an old man, who was floating next to him.

Xai Lin’s pupils immediately constricted when she saw this scene, and without hesitation, she grabbed An Mo and retreated away from the pit.

Their movements caught the old man’s attention. This projection, which was a dazzling golden color, swept a cold glance over them.

“Were you the ones who harmed my grandson?”

As his voice echoed out, the pressure in the surroundings grew even heavier. Xai Lin and An Mo, who were several dozen meters away felt a tightness in their chest.

Unlike Bai Nou’s Rank 4 pressure, this old man’s own was several times more terrifying. For Xai Lin, it felt like this person only needed to lift his hand to crush her several times over.

An Mo, however, seemed indifferent to the old man’s pressure and instead stepped forward to shield Xai Lin behind him.

Seeing this, Xai Lin immediately grabbed a handful of his clothes on his back and whispered softly.

“Let’s go. Use your ability to teleport us away.”

Hearing this, An Mo’s response was to click his tongue.

“Why leave? This old man is just a projection. Perhaps if he had really showed up in person, I would have been somewhat helpless, but in this form he’s just posturing.”

Upon hearing this, Xai Lin couldn’t help but cast a surprised look at An Mo’s back. It was only at this moment that she remembered that this brat had those eyes, so he couldn’t have failed to see that Sikong had the Spear Intent Imprint of a Soul Emergence Realm expert within him. And given the disdain he had shown for Sikong, it seemed he hadn’t taken him serious at all.

Xai Lin herself had some methods to deal with this old man, but all of them including ways of escaping his pursuit, not stand around and exchange moves.

Thinking this, she no longer urged An Mo to leave, and instead obediently stayed behind him to see why he was so confident.

Seeing that the two hadn’t answered him and was only whispering to themselves, the old man furrowed his brows.

“Kong’er, what’s the current situation? Why are you so injured?”

The old man turned his head to asked Sikong, who was floating behind him with his help.

Hearing this, Sikong sighed in his heart. Having his grandfather’s Imprint appear was never his intention. The first time that Spirit Beast attacked him, he had done his best to suppress it from activating, but this time he had been too relaxed and had failed.

Sikong glanced at Xai Lin and An Mo who was some distance away, before quickly retracting his gaze. After lowering his head to think for a moment, Sikong finally responded.

“Grandfather, the situation is quite complicated, but I am currently fine. This is the Demonic Realm, so it’s best if grandfather goes back first.”

Upon hearing this, the old man’s eyes staring at Sikong narrowed.

Of course, he knew this was the Demonic Realm. His current consciousness was that of his main body, who had already reached the entrance of their Sect’s Secret Realm, and heard the news from his youngest grandson.

But what was the current situation? Didn’t this good-for-nothing eldest grandson of his went to reclaim his treasure? Why was he telling him to leave now?

The old man keenly sensed that something wasn’t quite right, especially when he sensed a portion of his Spirit Imprint on that girl below.

After only a brief moment, the old man reached a conclusion that his grandson had something he couldn’t say. But that didn’t matter, what mattered was investigating that portion of Spirit Imprint on that girl.

Turning away from his useless grandson who dared to enter the Demonic Realm, the old man let his gaze land on Xai Lin, who was hiding behind that Spirit Beast.

“Child, this old man won’t make things difficult for you. I can sense that a portion of my Spirit Imprint is on you, just take out the item it is attached to and I’ll let you off.”

Xai Lin smiled but remained silent. It was An Mo who spoke with a sneer.

“Old man, what’s the point of posturing here? Do you think this is the Human Realm? Not to mention the suppression of the Demonic Realm, if you dare to release any more of your aura, my big brothers and sisters in the Mid-level Dimension will definitely come looking for you.”

Upon hearing this, the old man finally deigned to look at An Mo.

Snorting, he said coldly.

“Even so, my strength is enough to deal with a lowly Spirit Beast and a little girl.”

“Heh. Is that so?”

An Mo smiled at the old man, but there was no warmth in his golden eyes. Instead, they were giving off a bone chilling coldness.
