Heavenly Illusions

Chapter 16- How to Leave the Demonic Realm

Xai Lin had figured it out after An Mo teleported them out of the Wild Desert. Not only did he purposely not remind her of his ability, but he had also led them in circles around the Wild Desert. In fact, the Wild Desert was much smaller than the Great Forest territory, and it should have taken them a few hours at the very least to cross with their speed. However, they instead spent an entire day and night in there!

For Demonic Beasts and Spirit Beasts, such environments pose no problem to them in the long term, not to mention a Divine Beast. But for Xai Lin, even though the Heavenly Transformation Technique allowed her to obtain a Spirit Beast’s physical body, don’t forget this is the Demonic Realm that restricted human cultivators. Her Spirit Beast form definitely offset this restriction to an extent, but her soul was still that of a human, so she still faced some pressure on her soul, which intern affected her beast transformation.

Compared to An Mo’s relaxed attitude, she was having a hard time resisting these extreme environments in her beast form.

Xai Lin hadn’t known before, since this was the first time An Mo was “playing” with her, but she realized that if this was his method of playing around, she better put a stop to it or else her life going forward would be nothing but misery. At the very least, she had to make this brat regret trying to mess with her.

So, despite An Mo’s pleas, she continued her actions, and in only a few seconds, she had An Mo flushed and squirming beneath her.

But suddenly...

“Wait! Xai Lin, stop!”

An Mo’s voice cracked. He sounded panicked, different from his cries from before.

Xai Lin stopped her actions because of this. Looking down at An Mo, she asked.

“What’s up? Did your embarrassment became too much to handle?”

An Mo turned his head away, and not looking at Xai Lin, he said in a voice that was as thin as a thread.

“I—Let’s not play anymore.”

When this was said, along with his fully teased appearance, Xai Lin’s mind reeled for a moment. It almost looked like she was a scoundrel taking advantage of a pure maiden.

She had the thought to continue, but seeing An Mo’s current state, and thinking of something, she smiled and said with a chuckle.

“Okay, since you’ve learned your lesson then don’t provoke me right now. After all, we still have things to do.”

An Mo wanted to ask if that meant he could play with her after resolving their current problem but thinking of the heat that was finally subsiding in his abdomen, he swallowed the question back down his throat.

Xai Lin released An Mo and the two got up.

Looking at his appearance, and thinking about what just happened, Xai Lin flipped over her hand and took out a set of black martial arts attire, which was similar to her own.

“Here, wear this. It’s embedded with runes that will accommodate your transformations.”

An Mo’s golden eyes lit up when he saw the clothes.

“Thanks!”

Without being polite, An Mo took them and began putting them on.

While absentmindedly watching An Mo dress, Xai Lin began to reflect on her relationship with this brat. Unknowingly, they had become so close in just a few days.

About what happened just now, she knew An Mo had several ways to escape from her, but he chose not to. She figured it was because even though he was embarrassed, he was thinking that the more he endured the more justified he would be when he got back at her later. Which meant he fully believed they would be together in the future.

Well, Xai Lin didn’t reject his way of thinking; she thought the same too.

“How is it?”

An Mo’s words brought Xai Lin out of her thoughts. Looking at An Mo, who was standing in front of her fully dressed, up and down, she clicked her tongue before saying.

“Not bad, it suits you.”

An Mo’s smile became even wider when he heard that, and two faint dimples could even be seen on his cheeks.

Xai Lin’s fingers twitched, and following her impulse, she reached up to ruffle An Mo’s hair.

An Mo cooperated and leaned forward slightly to make it easier for Xai Lin to rub his head. She had done this a few times while they were resting on their journey, and if anything, he liked it when she stroked his head normally like this.

“Okay, let’s get started. You said that Spirit Beast’s home was close to the border of this Grassland territory, so it should be nearby, right?”

Xai Lin said as she withdrew her hand.

An Mo straightened and said with a nod.

“Hm. His name is Bai Nou, and he lives in a small burrow with his offsprings at the base of that mountain.”

Xai Lin followed An Mo’s finger that was pointing at one of the many mountains outlined in the distance. With their speed they could reach that place in a few minutes. It was really close by.

“Bai Nou, was it? It seems we’ll have to trouble him.”

With that said, Xai Lin turned and began walking towards that distant mountain.

An Mo followed closely, and he laughed while saying.

“Hehehe... Big Brother Bai Nou is the only one who doesn’t run when he sees me, however, he doesn’t welcome me near his home because I keep scaring his offsprings.”

Hearing this, Xai Lin asked curiously.

“You said that he has a mutated bloodline that gives him a spatial ability that could even obscure your eyes, but is that really true? Afterall, those eyes of yours could even see through the Heavenly Transformation Technique.” –And the fact that my soul was reincarnated.

Xai Lin added in her mind.

“Well, Big Brother Bai Nou’s ability could indeed block my Heavenly Dao Eyes, but that was when I was really young and wasn’t familiar with my abilities. Now, however, it’s quite easy to see through it.”

An Mo puffed out his chest when he said that, and Xai Lin rolled her eyes at him. Another persona of this brat she figured out in these past few days was this narcissistic attitude of his.

“Well, even if that’s the case, if you add the Divine Artifact I have with that ability, it should be enough to hide your bloodline and bypass that restriction.”

An Mo, who had begun skipping as he walked, immediately shook his head when he heard that.

“That Divine Artifact is a replica of the Chaos Tower. I said before that the information about the Chaos Tower within my Legacy Memories describes it as a Heavenly Treasure that’s even more vicious than the Heaven and Earth Scripture, since it can seal the bloodline within us Divine Beasts, much less a Spirit Beast. Its information must be within other Spirit Beasts Legacy memories as well. So, even though it’s only a replica, it’s still risky if you bring it out. It might be mistaken for the real thing, and those older brothers and sisters in the Higher Dimension might sense its aura and come find you for it. But don’t worry, Big Brother Bai Nou’s ability should be enough!”

Xai Lin glanced at An Mo, who was nonchalantly skipping next to her, and said with raised eyebrows.

“You’re quite confident.”

“Hm, I am! Afterall, back then I was too curious as to why my Heavenly Dao Eyes wasn’t able to see through it, so I snuck in to take a look, and the space inside was like a semi-formed small world.”

Xai Lin almost tripped over her own foot when she heard that, and she couldn’t help but cast a strange look at An Mo.

Upon seeing this, An Mo chuckled foolishly and awkwardly rubbed his fluffy hair.

The Spirit Beast they were referring to was a panda, and its spatial ability came in the form of a female kangaroo’s baby pouch. Seeing An Mo’s demeanor, Xai Lin didn’t need to ask to know that this brat had not merely been curious and went inside to take a look. No doubt he had done something outrageous and was driven away.

As for how he had even managed to sneak inside, she did not ask because she knew she would hear something even more shameless.
