Henry Winchester in Supernatural With Supernatural System

Chapter 149 : Against Henry (1)

Halloween night had fully settled over the town by the time Henry reached his house.

He knocked on the front door. A moment later, Madison opened it.

She blinked at the sight before her. Henry stood in the doorway with Dean slung over one shoulder and Sam over the other, both completely unable to move.

Madison stared for several seconds. "...Is this some kind of Halloween prank?"

Dean managed a crooked grin. "Guess."

Madison looked from Dean to Sam, then back to Henry. "I honestly can’t tell."

"They walked into a witch’s trap," Henry said, adjusting his grip on Dean. "Paralysis potion."

Madison looked at the two Winchesters again. "So they’re really paralyzed?"

Dean sighed dramatically. "Unfortunately, yes."

Madison pressed her lips together. Then failed. A laugh escaped before she quickly covered her mouth.

Dean groaned. "Yeah, yeah. Get it out of your system."

Henry walked past her into the house. "Don’t worry. They’re alive. Just temporarily useless."

Dean gave him an unamused look. "I heard that."

"I know," Henry replied without missing a beat.

He carried them into the living room and carefully lowered them onto the sofa before stepping back and looking at the two motionless hunters.

"So... want me to stick a couple of lollipops in your mouths? At least you’ll have something to do while you’re lying there."

Sam couldn’t hold back a smile. The look on Dean’s face alone was worth it.

Dean glared at both of them. "Keep laughing. Next time you’re the one stuck like this, I’m gonna laugh my ass off." He paused.

"And now would you please turn on the goddamn TV? I’m fucking bored."

Henry shrugged.

Before anyone could say another word, the doorbell rang. He walked over and opened the front door.

Two little girls in Halloween costumes stood outside. One was dressed as Snow White, the other wore a tiny witch’s outfit complete with a pointed hat. A middle-aged man, presumably their father, stood a few steps behind them.

The girls held out their pumpkin buckets. "Trick or treat!"

Henry smiled. "Wow... you two look really cute. Hang on, let me get your chocolate."

He disappeared into the kitchen and returned carrying an entire bowl of candy.

The girls’ eyes widened as he kept pouring chocolate after chocolate into their pumpkin buckets until they were nearly overflowing.

They stared down at their buckets in disbelief before looking back up with huge smiles. "Thank you!"

The father blinked. "I... I think that’s enough candy for the whole neighborhood."

Henry laughed. "It’s Halloween." He waved them off with a grin. "Enjoy yourselves."

The girls happily skipped down the walkway struggling to carry their overflowing buckets while their father gave Henry an amused nod before following after them.

The next morning, the paralysis had finally worn off.

After spending an entire night barely able to move, Dean couldn’t stand being cooped up inside any longer.

He left the house, stuffed his hands into his jacket pockets, and wandered through the town until he reached a small park. He dropped onto an empty bench with a tired sigh.

For a few peaceful seconds, nothing happened.

Then someone quietly sat down beside him.

Dean didn’t even have to look. "...I’m getting really tired of you guys doing that."

Castiel sat beside him, his usual unreadable expression fixed ahead. "You have done well, Dean."

Dean let out a short laugh. "Yeah? That’s funny, because I don’t remember doing much." He leaned back against the bench. "Henry’s the one who stopped the witch."

At the mention of Henry’s name, Castiel fell silent for a moment. "You should be careful about placing your trust in that man."

Dean slowly turned to look at him. "...Excuse me?"

"There are things about him you do not understand."

Dean’s expression hardened. "You know what’s funny? I trust him a hell of a lot more than the angels who wanted to wipe an entire town off the map just to stop one Seal from breaking."

Castiel didn’t react. "That was a test."

"A test? Thousands of innocent people were gonna die."

"It was necessary to determine what choice you would make."

Dean shook his head. "You guys have a seriously messed-up definition of necessary."

Castiel was silent for a few seconds before speaking again. "Do you know that we assigned an angel to watch over Henry?"

Dean frowned. "No."

"The angel is dead."

Dean blinked. "...What?"

"We do not know how it happened. No angel witnessed the event. No trace of the one assigned to him remains. We cannot even determine what killed him." For the first time, there was the slightest hint of uncertainty in Castiel’s voice.

Dean stared at him, trying to judge whether this was some kind of trick. "So you’re saying an angel just... disappeared?"

Castiel nodded once. "Dean..." His blue eyes settled on him with unusual intensity. "Your cousin is hiding far more than you realize."

Dean didn’t answer.

Castiel stood from the bench. "And remember this. When something ceases to be human..." He paused. "...it is only a matter of time before it becomes something hunters are forced to kill."

Before Dean could respond, Castiel vanished, leaving the bench empty beside him.

Across town, Sam pushed a shopping cart through the grocery store. As always, most of what he’d picked out consisted of vegetables, fruit, and healthy snacks. He reached for a bag of carrots.

"Still eating rabbit food, I see."

Sam froze. He already recognized the voice.

Turning his head, he found Ruby leaning casually against the shelf beside him with a playful smile. "Hi, Sam. It’s been a while."

Sam’s expression hardened immediately. "What do you want, Ruby?"

She glanced at the vegetables in his cart and smirked. "I’ve got to say, I expected more from a Winchester." She picked up a carrot and examined it. "Seriously? Carrots?"

Sam snatched it from her hand and put it back in the cart. "I’m not in the mood."
