Henry Winchester in Supernatural With Supernatural System

Chapter 148 : Colt

Henry looked around the ritual site one last time.

Fate had already screwed him over more times than he could count, so he wasn’t about to assume anything. He didn’t even know if this crazy bitch could be considered the third sacrifice needed to break the seal.

He waited for five minutes.

Nothing happened.

Good. The seal hadn’t broken.

Maybe the ritual required something more than just a sacrifice.

"Well, that’s a relief," Henry muttered. "I didn’t want to deal with demons anyway."

Dean lay flat on the sofa, unable to move anything below his neck.

After several minutes of staring at the ceiling, boredom finally got the better of him.

"Hey... you think Henry’s done with the witch yet?"

Sam, equally paralyzed beside him, shrugged as much as his body would allow. "I’d guess so. This isn’t the first witch he’s dealt with. He can handle himself."

Dean let out a quiet grunt. "Yeah. Compared to demons, witches are usually a walk in the park."

Silence settled over the room before Dean smirked. "Speaking of demons... why isn’t Lilith riding our asses these days? I figured she’d still have that unhealthy fixation with you."

Sam rolled his eyes. "She’s not obsessed with me."

Dean raised an eyebrow. "Could’ve fooled me."

Sam sighed. "Dean, she doesn’t care about me. She wants to kill me." He paused before adding dryly, "And you."

Dean considered that for a moment. "So you are not special."

"Not in the way you’re thinking." Sam looked toward the basement door, expression growing more serious. "If Lilith’s been quiet, it’s probably because she’s busy breaking another Seal. Compared to that, we’re not her priority right now."

Dean’s smirk faded. "...I don’t know whether that makes me feel better or a whole lot worse."

A faint dragging sound echoed through the house.

Scrape... scrape... scrape...

Sam’s eyes shifted toward the hallway. "Dean..."

"What?"

"I think we’ve got company."

Dean strained to turn his head toward the doorway.

Something was slowly crawling across the floor. It had once been human.

Now its skin was gray and rotting, stretched tightly over its skull. Its jaw hung unnaturally low, exposing broken, bloodstained teeth, while its cloudy white eyes stared straight at the two hunters.

Long, filthy fingernails scraped across the wooden floor as it dragged itself forward with jerky, unnatural movements.

Dean’s face hardened. "...Well."

The creature let out a low, guttural growl and continued crawling toward them.

"I was hoping that was Henry."

Sam swallowed. "That’s definitely not Henry."

Dean sighed. "I really picked a lousy day to be paralyzed."

The creature crawled closer, inch by inch, until it was only a few feet away. Dean’s eyes flicked toward his coat lying on the nearby chair.

"Hey, Sam."

"What?"

"Can you move at all?"

Sam tried. Nothing happened. "Barely."

Dean nodded toward the coat. "Colt’s in the inside pocket. If you can reach it somehow, shoot that thing."

Sam stared at him. "...And how exactly am I supposed to do that, Dean? Grab it with my teeth?"

Dean shrugged as much as his frozen body allowed. "I don’t know. Improvise."

Sam gave him a flat look. "I hate it when that’s your plan."

The creature gave another rasping growl and suddenly lunged toward Dean.

Dean muttered under his breath. "...Oh, crap."

Before its claws could reach him —

Boom!

A boot slammed into the side of the creature’s head with enough force to snap its neck sideways.

Its entire body spun through the air before crashing headfirst into the wall. The drywall cracked from the impact as the creature crumpled to the floor.

Henry lowered his leg and glanced at the two brothers.

Dean stared at him for a second before letting out a relieved breath. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you right now."

Henry smirked. "I leave you two alone for five minutes..."

The creature lay motionless for only a second. Then its limbs twitched.

Crack... crack... crack...

A sickening series of cracks echoed through the room as its head slowly twisted back into place. Within moments, it was staring at Henry again.

Henry blinked. "...Well." The creature pushed itself back onto its feet as though the kick had never happened.

"That’s not normal." For the first time since entering the house, genuine confusion crossed his face. "What kind of creature is this?"

The monster let out a shrill screech and took another step toward him.

Dean, still sprawled helplessly on the sofa, rolled his eyes. "Don’t stand there trying to identify it. Colt’s right there."

Henry looked down. "Oh." He reached into Dean’s coat, pulled out the Colt, and checked the cylinder.

The creature suddenly lunged.

Henry calmly raised the revolver.

Bang!

The bullet struck the creature square in the chest. A blinding white flash erupted from the wound.

The monster let out an ear-piercing scream as cracks of brilliant light spread across its body. Within seconds, its flesh began to disintegrate into ash.

The scream abruptly stopped. A moment later, nothing remained except a pile of gray dust on the wooden floor.

Henry stared at the ashes before looking down at the Colt in his hand. "...As always." He opened the cylinder and glanced at the remaining rounds. "One bullet. One dead monster."

For a brief moment, he wondered whether even he could survive a hit from one of those bullets. He immediately dismissed the thought. "...Not that I’m insane enough to find out."

"So... what about us?" Dean asked, still flat on the sofa.

Henry looked between the two helpless Winchesters. "Not sure how long this paralysis potion lasts." He shrugged. "Two options. Stay here and wait for it to wear off... or wait it out at my house."

Dean didn’t even hesitate. "Your house."

Henry raised an eyebrow. "You answered that pretty fast."

Dean snorted. "I’m not spending another minute in this creepy witch house."

Sam nodded in agreement. "I’ve seen enough of this place."

Henry slipped the Colt back into Dean’s coat before looking around the room one last time. "Alright then. Guess I’m hauling both of you home."
