Henry Winchester in Supernatural With Supernatural System

Chapter 150 : Against Henry (2)

"C’mon, Sam. Don’t be like that."

Ruby matched his pace as he pushed the shopping cart down the aisle.

"You never trusted me, and I get why. But can’t you at least give me a chance? I’m on your side."

Sam kept walking without acknowledging her.

Ruby sighed before continuing.

"The last time I told you I could help you take down Lilith, you wouldn’t listen. You remember what happened after that, don’t you? You guys barely made it out alive."

Sam stopped beside the produce section and finally turned to face her.

"You don’t get to say that."

His voice remained calm, but there was no warmth in it.

"You’re a demon."

Ruby gave a small, humorless smile.

"That’s exactly my point. I am a demon, which means I know how Lilith thinks better than you ever will."

She folded her arms and looked directly into his eyes.

"Lilith is breaking the Seals one after another. Sooner or later she’s coming for you guys again, and when she does, you won’t be lucky enough to survive by sheer chance."

Sam’s expression tightened.

Without taking his eyes off Ruby, he slowly slipped his hand inside his jacket, his fingers wrapping around the handle of the demon-killing knife.

Ruby noticed the movement immediately, but instead of backing away, she simply looked down at his hand and smiled faintly.

"There it is."

She looked back at him.

"Every time we meet, you reach for that knife first and ask questions later."

Sam’s grip tightened around the blade.

"Give me one good reason not to use it."

Ruby’s expression didn’t change.

"Because if I wanted you dead, I could’ve stayed hidden and let Lilith handle it. Instead, I’m standing here in the middle of a grocery store trying to keep you alive."

For a long moment, neither of them spoke. Sam never loosened his grip on the knife, and Ruby never took her eyes off him, each silently waiting for the other to make the next move.

"And you’re so willing to trust your cousin Henry?" Ruby asked, watching him carefully.

Sam let out a quiet scoff.

"Don’t push your luck."

His hand remained inside his jacket, still gripping the demon-killing knife.

"I’ve been more patient with you than I should be. If Dean were standing here instead of me, he’d have already buried this knife in your chest the second you mentioned Henry."

Ruby nodded slightly, completely unfazed.

"I know."

She glanced around the store before lowering her voice.

"But I’m not trying to insult him, Sam. I’m saying there’s something seriously wrong."

Sam remained silent, allowing her to continue.

"Think about it."

Ruby stepped a little closer.

"How did he survive after being surrounded by hundreds of demons? Lilith was there herself. Any ordinary human would’ve died within seconds."

Her expression grew more serious.

"Lilith isn’t careless. If she wanted Henry dead, he should be dead."

Sam’s grip on the knife tightened.

"So what’s your point?"

"My point is that he came back alive."

Ruby held his gaze.

"And ever since then... hasn’t he been acting differently?"

Sam didn’t answer immediately.

His thoughts drifted back over the past several weeks.

Henry had always been unusual, but after returning from that encounter with Lilith, there had been subtle changes.

He hid more things than before, disappeared without explanation, and occasionally said things that made Sam wonder how much he actually knew.

None of it was enough to make Sam suspect him outright, but Ruby’s words were forcing him to revisit those memories.

Seeing the hesitation in his eyes, Ruby pressed on.

"Exactly."

Her voice remained calm, almost sympathetic.

"You’ve noticed it too."

Sam slowly looked back at her, his expression unreadable.

"You don’t know what happened between Henry and Lilith."

"No," Ruby admitted.

"But neither do you."

She folded her arms.

"For all we know, Lilith could’ve done something to him that even Henry doesn’t realize. Maybe she changed something inside him."

"Or maybe..."

"...the person who came back isn’t entirely the same person who went in."

Meanwhile, Henry was in the kitchen washing the dishes when he suddenly sneezed. A moment later he sneezed again, causing him to frown as he rubbed his nose in confusion.

"Why the heck am I sneezing so much?" he muttered to himself. "Did somebody miss me that much?"

Before he could think about it any further, a pair of arms slipped around his waist from behind. Henry smiled faintly, already knowing who it was without having to turn around.

"You know you’ve become a real female hooligan?" Henry asked, continuing to wash the dishes as though this had become a perfectly normal occurrence.

Bela rested her chin on his shoulder and let out a soft laugh.

"What else is there for me to do? If this were my old life, I’d probably be out scamming some poor guy or selling fake supernatural items to rich collectors who wouldn’t know the difference."

She spoke without even the slightest hint of regret. Instead, there was only relief in her voice, as though she had finally left that life behind.

"But now I’m free from my demon contract, and I actually get to enjoy life." She hugged him a little tighter before adding with a smug smile, "I’ve got a house..."

Her grin widened.

"...and I’ve even got a house husband."

Henry sighed helplessly, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

"I don’t remember agreeing to become anybody’s house husband."

Bela simply laughed and refused to let go, looking perfectly content as she continued clinging to him from behind.
