The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 147 - 146: You Sure Know How to Comfort Someone

Yvonne Lowell glared at him. "So what? Even if I’m only a day older, I’m still your sister. And am I wrong?"

"Of course it’s the truth! My sister is rich, beautiful, and powerful! She’s totally invincible!" Adrian Lowell nodded furiously.

Ever since his sister came back, his idol had switched from his oldest brother to her.

It wasn’t just because she treated him the best, but also because she had a whole slew of prestigious titles—any single one of which was enough to leave people speechless.

’It’s just that, her judgment seems a little off. To think she’d fall for a manipulative guy pretending to be a saint...’

"Heh," Yvonne Lowell stifled a laugh. "See? I said it to encourage you, not so you could split hairs over my wording!" She playfully shook her fist at him.

"Want them to unload the car so you can get a good look at it? Then we’ll have someone move it to the garage, and you can drive it once you get your license."

"Okay! And those vertical banners—I’m keeping those too!"

The corner of Yvonne Lowell’s mouth twitched. "Fine. As long as you don’t ask to pack up the balloons and streamers, anything goes."

Adrian Lowell waved toward the group of "old men." "Caleb, come here for a second."

That’s right. In his mind, any man older than him—Young Master Justin—was automatically labeled an "old man."

A personal disclaimer from Genevieve: This rule only applies to my generation. All rights of final interpretation are reserved by me.

Headed by Caleb Lowell, the group walked over to join them.

The other guests, having had their fill of the spectacle, had already gone inside. Only this group remained.

"Look, Yvonne Lowell, I’m not trying to call you out, but it’s bad enough you’re playing favorites and buying him the newest supercar. Do you really have to whisper with him, too? And for so long! What, you two have little secrets you’re keeping from the rest of us now?"

Yvonne Lowell shot him a sidelong glance. "Give back the LaFerrari."

Harrison Lowell: ’Ding. Manual shut-up switch, now activated.’

Adrian Lowell grabbed Caleb Lowell. "Caleb, once the car’s unloaded, could you drive it to the estate’s garage for me?"

’Leaving it at the old estate was the safest bet. If he took it home, his actual brother would definitely sneak it out for a spin.’

’Besides, letting his former idol drive the car that his current idol gave him was a form of compensation in itself.’

’Soz, big bro. I’m canceling my subscription to the Caleb Fan Club.’

(Sorry, big bro. I won’t worship you anymore.)

’He had actually wanted Yvonne to drive, but considering her cheongsam and high heels would be impractical, he’d given up on the idea.’

Caleb Lowell raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You’re actually letting me touch it?"

"I’m not, really." Adrian Lowell shook his head honestly. "But my sister is in high heels, and it’s not convenient."

Caleb Lowell laughed in exasperation. ’Should I feel proud and touched that, besides his sister, I’m the person Adrian Lowell trusts most out of everyone here?’

The driver unloaded the car, and Adrian Lowell went up to stroke it all over. He even sat in the driver’s seat to get the feel of it before reluctantly handing the keys to Caleb Lowell.

"Caleb, take it easy, okay? Go slow, and don’t scratch it."

Caleb Lowell shot him a sideways glance. "Get in. You can inspect it yourself when we get there."

"You got it!" Adrian Lowell slid happily into the passenger seat.

As they drove to the garage, the others headed back to the banquet hall.

Leo Grant and Yvonne Lowell walked at the back of the group, his hand tightening around her slightly cool one.

Frank Lowell, who had turned to say something, saw this and shamelessly rolled his eyes before speaking up.

"If I remember correctly, this is a new model that was just released this summer. It’s a limited edition, too. Nola must have gone through a lot of trouble to get it, right?"

Yvonne Lowell shook her head. "I bought it before I came back. It just so happened to be released right around then, so the only things that took time were the shipping and the license plates."

Hearing this, Harrison Lowell slung an arm around Zachary Jacobs and whispered, "Angus, tell your big bro on the down-low... exactly how many more supercars does Nola have overseas?"

"I don’t know."

Thinking Zachary Jacobs was holding out on him, Harrison Lowell tightened his grip. "Are we bros or not? You can’t even tell me a little thing like this."

"No, it’s not that. I’ve honestly never counted. Forget me, even she doesn’t know how many cars she has." Zachary Jacobs freed his own neck from its mortal peril before patiently explaining.

"A lot of supercar brands have partnerships with Pluto, and I don’t know how they found out, but they know the Chairman likes to collect limited-edition supercars."

"So they always reserve one of every new model for Lowell ahead of time. If she goes to pick it up, she gets it at a bone-crushing discount. Sometimes they’ll even just send her one for free before the public release."

’Wow. Just wow. Here he was, the dignified Second Young Master of the Lowell Family, with no way to buy one, and his sister was treating them like common vegetables? Buying them by the pound?! And people just gave them to her for free?!’

As if reading his mind, Zachary Jacobs patted his shoulder. "You don’t have to be too envious. It’s not like she buys every model. She generally only buys the ones that look good and the ultra-rare ones."

Harrison Lowell: ’Wow, you’re a real master of consolation, you know that? I’m not envious anymore. Now I’m just plain jealous. You cold, unfeeling monster! I will never forgive you!’

’Yep, I, Harrison, am completely emo now.’

Nearby, Martin Crawford surreptitiously nudged his older brother. "Bro, can you get me a supercar for my eighteenth birthday?"

Nolan Crawford shot him a sideways glance. "Pad your pillow a little higher tonight. You can have anything you want in your dreams."

"Why not? Look how good Sister Yvonne is to Genevieve! And they’re not even related by blood. Now look at you, my actual brother!" Martin Crawford gave him an accusatory stare.

Nolan Crawford shrugged. "Oh? Then go ask *your* sister to buy you one. I’m a guy, can’t be doing that."

’Paying out of his own pocket was out of the question. And his brother could forget about ever touching the babies in his garage.’

Martin Crawford only dared to mumble under his breath, "If I had a sister, what would I even need you for? If I had a sister, forget you—I might not have even been born."

Martin Crawford: ’Dear omniscient netizens, how do I secretly take my brother to get a sex change without him finding out? Waiting online, it’s urgent.’

...

The banquet officially began, and the others received their "assignments" and went their separate ways to socialize.

After feeling stifled all day, the "tagalong," Mr. Grant, finally got some time alone with his girlfriend.

Watching her leisurely eat cake beside him, he spoke, his voice tinged with jealousy. "You’re so good to Genevieve. Going through all that trouble to prepare a surprise for him."

Yvonne Lowell shrugged. "He’s the only little brother I have. He’s worth it."

Zachary Jacobs: ’Hi, Lowell. Do you still remember me from by Lake Valora? I’m the brother you introduced in front of everyone!’

When he didn’t answer, Yvonne Lowell reached up and tickled his chin. "What’s wrong? You’re not getting jealous, are you?"

"Not jealous, exactly." Leo Grant captured her mischievous hand and leaned close to her ear. "Just... suddenly a little envious, *sis*~"

His warm breath ghosted over her ear, and Yvonne Lowell’s ears flushed red in a flash.

And that one word—"*sis*"—was enough to make her whole body tingle.

Snapping back to her senses, Yvonne Lowell shoved the rest of her cake into his mouth. "Ahem, fine, I’ll buy you something too! Your big sister will buy you whatever you want!"

"I’m not one to comment, but did we run out of cutlery or something? Or cake? Do you two really have to eat from the same piece?"
