Chapter 139: 139: A DAMSEL(2)
William stood completely still on the warm sand, and he looked down at the nice girl who just tapped his broad back. She had a very bright smile on her face, and her eyes sparkled under the fading light of the beautiful sunset.
"My name is Kate,"
The girl introduced herself to William in a cheerful and sweet voice. William responded to her with warm smiles on his face, and he politely nodded his head to acknowledge her kind greeting. Even though she looked very pretty in her colorful dress, William knew deep inside his young heart that this is not the girl he was looking for today.
The clear image of the mysterious girl he fell in love with at first sight still plays in his head like a beautiful movie, and he could remember every tiny detail of that previous face.
Kate had lovely dark hair and a different voice, while the magical girl in his pure memory looked completely different from the person standing in front of him. However, William was a very respectful and kind boy, so he did not let his slight disappointment show on his calm face at all.
He stood tall in the cool evening breeze, and he gave Kate his full and undivided attention because she was brave enough to approach him on a crowded beach. He knew that being a famous football player meant he would meet many new people, and he wanted to treat everyone with absolute respect.
"It is very nice to meet you, Kate, and yes, I am William," he replied to her in a gentle tone, and he felt happy that a local fan recognized him from his recent club announcement.
He remembered how Coach Lincoln told him to always be nice to the supporters, and he wanted to make a good impression. He smiled again, and he waited to hear what the nice girl wanted to say to him on this peaceful evening.
The girl was beautiful and friendly, and William also loved it because her positive energy made the conversation very easy and comfortable. They stood near the crashing ocean waves, and they started to talk about the beautiful coastal city and the fun beach games he was playing with his friends.
Kate explained that she was a massive fan of the Blackpool football team, and she saw his official announcement pictures in the local sports news just a few hours ago. William felt very proud to meet a true supporter of his club, and he gladly answered her simple questions about his brand new black and green jersey.
He told her how excited he was to play in the massive Premier League this season, and she listened to his football stories with bright and interested eyes. Because they shared a very nice connection and enjoyed each other's polite company, William and Kate decided to exchange contact numbers before they parted ways.
William carefully took out his mobile phone from his short pocket, and he typed her digits into his new contact list so they could speak again as simple friends in the future.
Kate also saved his phone number on her device, and she promised to send him a congratulatory message before his big game against Leeds United. They chatted for a while about their favorite places to eat around the large city, and their friendly conversation flowed very naturally without any awkward pauses or quiet moments.
Kate told him about a great coffee shop located right next to the massive stadium, and William promised to check it out when he had some free time after his heavy morning training.
He felt very relaxed talking to her, and he appreciated her sweet manners and nice words of encouragement. Even though she was not the exact girl of his romantic dreams, he was still very glad to make a brand new friend in the city he called his home.
Their conversation was full of light laughter, and they discussed how much the local community loved the football club and its hardworking players.
While William and Kate enjoyed their pleasant and long conversation near the wet shoreline, his two best friends stood a few steps away near their wooden benches.
Adam and Stone had their small bags packed and ready to go, but they just kept looking at them with wide and surprised eyes. The two boys were leaving their friends in awe because they did not expect William to find a beautiful girl at the very end of their fun beach trip.
Adam held his red plastic frisbee tightly in his hand, and he nudged Stone in the ribs with his elbow to make him look at the unexpected scene.
They watched how comfortable William looked while talking and laughing with the pretty stranger, and they felt very proud of their quiet friend. However, they wanted to give him enough personal space, so they did not walk over to interrupt the nice and peaceful moment.
They just stood near the wooden benches and waited patiently, and they whispered to each other about how lucky William was to meet someone so nice today. Stone smiled and pointed at the setting sun behind the two chatting figures, and he mentioned that the beautiful background made the scene look exactly like a romantic part of a television show.
Even though William was secretly still thinking about the first-sight girl in his deep mind, Adam and Stone assumed he had finally found his special beach crush.
They leaned against a tall wooden pole, and they continued to observe the friendly interaction with pure amazement and big smiles on their own faces.
Adam whispered to Stone that William was adapting very well to his new celebrity status, and Stone agreed with a slow nod of his head. They were happy to see their friend smiling so much after a very stressful summer, and they promised not to ruin the beautiful interaction by making loud noises.
After a brief chat about the city and the upcoming football matches, the both separated with kind words and went to their friends. Kate waved her small hand in the air, and she walked back to join her own group of friends further down the sandy beach.
William put his phone safely back into his pocket, and he walked over to where Adam and Stone were standing with big and funny grins on their faces. As soon as William reached them, Adam and Stone started to tease him without wasting a single second of time.
"Oh, look at the big Premier League star stealing hearts on the beach!"
Adam laughed out very loud, and he threw his heavy arm around William's shoulder in a playful manner. Stone chuckled and added that William was supposed to be looking for a specific mystery girl, but he ended up finding a completely different beautiful fan instead.
William felt his cheeks grow warm from the joke, and he playfully pushed Adam away while laughing along with their silly and fun comments. He told them that Kate was just a friendly football fan who wanted to say hello, but his friends refused to believe his simple and honest excuse.
They teased him about how he was smiling so big during the entire chat, and they joked that he would spend all night texting his new friend instead of resting for his morning football training. The three boys shared a loud and happy laugh together, and the playful teasing made their strong bond of friendship even better.
William shook his head and told them to stop acting like little children, but the huge smile on his face showed that he was not angry at their funny words. He felt very lucky to have friends who could always make him laugh, and he enjoyed the lighthearted moments they shared under the evening sky.
After joking and all, the three friends decided it was finally time to leave the dark beach and return to their warm houses. The golden sun had completely disappeared behind the deep ocean water, and the evening air was starting to feel quite cold against their bare skin.
They carried their small bags over their strong shoulders, and they walked up the wooden stairs away from the sandy and wet shore. They walked along the quiet streets of the coastal city, and they enjoyed the peaceful silence of the coming night as bright streetlights began to turn on one by one.
The streets were very calm and safe, and the sound of the ocean waves slowly faded away into the quiet background. Since they lived in different directions, they stopped at a familiar road crossing near a small park to say their goodbyes for the day.
They did their special and secret handshakes, and they promised to meet up again very soon to celebrate more good news and play more fun games. After their warm and friendly farewells, they went to their respective homes so they could rest their tired bodies and eat a good dinner.
William walked the rest of the way alone, and he felt a deep sense of peace in his young heart as he approached his quiet house. He opened his heavy wooden front door and stepped right inside the cozy living room, and he was ready to face his big football challenges the next day with a clear and happy mind.
