My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 232: Ransom Doubled

"Mom, are you okay?" Su Miaoke asked, her nose tingling as she fought back tears.

"I’m fine, Mom’s fine. How are you two?" Chu Feng’s mother-in-law replied.

Though they both claimed to be fine, they burst into tears after just a few sentences, looking heartbroken.

This made Chu Feng speechless. A dark look crossed his face.

’If I’d known this would happen, I wouldn’t have let them talk,’ he thought.

But unexpectedly, the two of them ended up talking for over an hour.

When she finally hung up, Su Miaoke looked at Chu Feng with her red, swollen eyes.

"What is it?" Chu Feng couldn’t help but ask.

"What if something happens to Dad? What will Mom do?" Su Miaoke looked like she was about to start crying again.

"Hey, it’s okay. Don’t worry about that. They won’t touch our dad. They’re after money, so they won’t hurt him until they get paid," Chu Feng said, trying to comfort her.

"But what if the worst happens? You can never be too careful," Su Miaoke said.

"If they dare touch him, I’ll send every last one of them to hell!" Chu Feng growled, his teeth clenched in anger.

Although he was very powerful now, he wasn’t an Immortal. He couldn’t just instantly appear before his father-in-law.

So for now, all he could do was pray the kidnappers wouldn’t harm his father-in-law.

「Soon, the plane landed at an airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.」

"Mr. Chu, hello. The plane will be waiting for you here in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is my contact number. Please call anytime you need us, and we will arrange a car to pick you up." A woman who looked like a secretary quickly handed her business card to Chu Feng.

Taking the card, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke walked out of the airport, pulling their suitcases behind them.

The first thing they saw was his mother-in-law sitting on a stone bollard near the airport entrance.

"Xiao Feng, Miaoke." The moment his mother-in-law saw Chu Feng and Su Miaoke, she ran over and threw her arms around them, sobbing uncontrollably.

It took a long while for the mother and daughter to compose themselves again.

"Alright, Mom, Miaoke, let’s get going. We can’t waste any more time," Chu Feng said.

"Right. Xiao Feng is right. We have to go now." Chu Feng’s mother-in-law nodded vigorously.

Just then, three cars pulled up a short distance in front of them.

Several men in suits got out. Pinned to their chests were badges bearing the name of Zhao Liu’s company.

At first, seeing this, Su Miaoke and Chu Feng’s mother-in-law tensed up, thinking the kidnappers had arrived.

"Mom, Miaoke, don’t worry. They’re on our side," Chu Feng told them.

"Hello, Mr. Chu. We were sent to pick you up," the leader, a rather handsome man, said to Chu Feng.

"Were you sent by Zhao Liu?" Chu Feng asked.

"Yes, Mr. Chu. We were sent by President Zhao. We’re from the corporation’s overseas security division. I’m the head of security here, He Tao," the man said, introducing himself.

"Alright. Thank you, Minister He," Chu Feng said with a nod.

Someone immediately came over to take their luggage.

"You’re too kind, Mr. Chu. It’s our duty. Shall we head to your accommodations first?" Minister He asked Chu Feng.

Seeing that Chu Feng had brought his family, Minister He knew exactly what to do and had already arranged a place for them to stay.

"Okay." Chu Feng nodded, and then the group got into the cars.

"Mom, Miaoke, let’s go check out the place where we’ll be staying," Chu Feng said to them.

In truth, he just wanted to get the mother and daughter settled, as their emotions were far too volatile.

Soon, after about a half-hour drive, the convoy arrived in a luxurious area filled with villas.

"Mr. Chu, we’ll have to trouble you to stay here for the time being. The security in this area is excellent, so you don’t need to worry. We will also dispatch our own security personnel to stand guard," He Tao said.

"Okay, thank you." Chu Feng looked around and was quite satisfied.

The villas here were luxuriously decorated, on par with those back home.

"Minister He, can you brief us on the current situation?" Chu Feng inquired.

"Here’s the situation, Mr. Chu. President Su was kidnapped by a local armed criminal group. With our current strength, we are unable to confront them directly," He Tao said.

"What? An armed criminal group? How did my father-in-law get involved with them?" Chu Feng frowned, confused.

"Mr. Chu, you may not be familiar with the situation here. Although they are an armed criminal group, the local economy drives them to frequently kidnap wealthy business owners who come here, demanding huge ransoms."

"We were negligent. We didn’t dispatch enough security to protect President Su, which is why this happened."

He Tao said to Chu Feng with his head lowered, stating the facts without trying to shirk responsibility.

"Besides my father-in-law, how many other members of his entourage were taken?" Chu Feng asked.

"President Su had four people traveling with him, plus two of our security personnel. A total of seven people were taken," He Tao said.

"Okay, I understand," Chu Feng nodded.

Then, Chu Feng called out to his mother-in-law, who was sitting on the sofa.

"Mom, contact the kidnappers now. Tell them the ransom is ready and see what they say," Chu Feng said.

"Okay." Chu Feng’s mother-in-law nodded and immediately started dialing.

She had complete faith in her son-in-law now. She knew about his capabilities and that he had a good relationship with people like Zhao Liu. At this point, their only hope was Chu Feng.

After all, Chu Feng had arrived on a private jet, had accommodations arranged, and was met by a professional team.

His treatment and connections were far beyond anything she could muster.

The call quickly connected. Chu Feng took the phone and asked directly, "The money is ready. Where’s the exchange? When will you release him?"

"Well, well, you’re faster than I expected. Two billion. I’ll call you tomorrow. Don’t try any funny business, or we’ll kill the hostage!" the person on the other end said arrogantly.

And the two billion didn’t have to be in cash. They would also accept the equivalent in gold, rare minerals, or even an electronic bank transfer.

Their ability to receive payment was incredibly flexible; they would accept any convenient and liquid method.

"What? Two billion?" Su Miaoke was stunned.

"It’s normal. They’re in the kidnapping business, did you expect them to be reasonable? Two billion is two billion. Let’s see if they have what it takes to collect it," Chu Feng said nonchalantly, not taking these kidnappers seriously at all.
