Chapter 195: Poisoned
"Have you ordered yet?" Chu Feng asked.
"Yes, yes, I’ve ordered. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied with the dishes I picked, Big Brother," Zhao Quan said with a confident expression.
Soon, all the dishes were brought to the table.
Chu Feng’s eyes widened when he saw the food.
"What’s this dish?" Chu Feng asked, pointing at one of them.
"This is Yang Reviving Soup," Zhao Quan said.
"Yang Reviving Soup? What’s that?" Su Miaoke frowned. She had never heard of it.
"Ahem, it’s... bull pizzle," Zhao Quan said, a bit embarrassed.
Chu Feng and Su Miaoke were both taken aback.
"Then what about this one?" Chu Feng asked, pointing to another dish.
"Those are chicken and sheep kidneys," Zhao Quan said, his confidence wavering.
Hearing what the dishes were, Chu Feng was speechless.
"What? Do you think I’m weak?" Chu Feng asked, looking at Zhao Quan.
Zhao Quan was momentarily at a loss for words.
Hearing this, Su Miaoke, who was sitting beside them, blushed and started to laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Chu Feng asked.
"I think you really do need some nourishment. The more you get, the stronger you’ll be," Su Miaoke said with a playful smile as she ladled a bowl of Yang Reviving Soup for Chu Feng.
She was clearly teasing him on purpose.
The three of them had a very enjoyable meal, especially Chu Feng.
At first, he had been a little hesitant about these kinds of dishes and didn’t really dare to eat them.
But the restaurant had prepared the ingredients so well that the flavor was extraordinary. In the end, Chu Feng ate most of it himself.
"Sister-in-law, just how hard does Big Brother usually work to be able to eat so much?" Zhao Quan was so shocked he couldn’t help but ask.
"He really is quite tired usually. Sometimes he works through the entire night without any rest," Su Miaoke said, covering her mouth with a smile.
These words stunned Zhao Quan. His eyes nearly popped out of his head.
"Damn, Big Brother is that intense? He’s truly my role model," Zhao Quan said, swallowing hard with an envious look on his face.
Seeing Zhao Quan’s envious expression, Su Miaoke’s smile grew even wider, unable to contain her amusement.
In truth, Zhao Quan didn’t know that the "work" Su Miaoke was talking about was refining Medicinal Liquid.
When Chu Feng refined Medicinal Liquid, he would indeed go a full day and night, or even several days and nights, without sleep.
This was why Su Miaoke wanted Chu Feng to replenish his energy; refining the Medicinal Liquid consumed a great deal of his Essence, Qi, and Spirit.
"Alright, cut the crap. Anymore nonsense and I’ll beat you up," Chu Feng said, shooting him a glare.
"So, where to next, Big Brother? Should I arrange for the next round?" Zhao Quan asked tentatively, glancing at Su Miaoke.
"What next round? We’re not going. Your sister-in-law and I have to get back to work," Chu Feng said.
The moment "work" was mentioned, Zhao Quan’s expression changed. He nodded repeatedly, a look of complete understanding on his face.
"Go on, get out of here. We’re leaving," Chu Feng said, not wanting to look at the guy any longer.
Just as Chu Feng and the others walked out of their private room, a loud noise suddenly erupted from the room next door.
BANG!
The three of them looked toward the sound and saw that the door to the adjacent private room was ajar.
From Chu Feng’s vantage point, he could see what was happening inside.
An old man in a Tang suit lay collapsed on the floor while several bodyguards beside him checked his condition and administered first aid.
Then, two bodyguards rushed out of the room, guns in hand.
"Requesting backup, requesting backup! Mr. He has been poisoned! Send the nearest medical support team immediately!" It was obvious that the two bodyguards were extremely tense.
Hu Biao also rushed over at the sound of the commotion. When he saw the scene through the open door, his face instantly turned pale. ’My heart sank. It’s over! It’s completely over this time.’
"Mr. He!" Hu Biao rushed in anxiously, but he was quickly stopped by the bodyguards inside.
"Don’t come any closer, or we’ll shoot!" the two bodyguards inside yelled, their faces tense. They didn’t trust anyone.
This left Chu Feng, Su Miaoke, and Zhao Quan completely stunned.
"What’s going on?" Zhao Quan asked, utterly confused.
While they were still dazed, several doctors in white coats rushed in, carrying medical equipment, and hurried into the private room.
The door to the room was then shut.
"What happened? How could he suddenly be poisoned?" Chu Feng asked Hu Biao, a little confused.
"I don’t know either! It happened not long after I sent in a few bottles of 300-year-old Guojiao. They were all fine when I delivered the liquor," Hu Biao said, drenched in sweat.
"If Mr. He and Mr. Huang both die here, then Sixth Master will be in big trouble!" Hu Biao said with a look of despair. The consequences were something he didn’t even dare to imagine.
"Are this Mr. He and Mr. Huang you mentioned a big deal?" Zhao Quan asked with a frown upon hearing this.
Zhao Liu was one of their own, so of course Zhao Quan was concerned.
"It’s said that Mr. He is backed by Sword King Valley, and Mr. Huang is backed by the Jiangdong Huang Family," Hu Biao said, his expression lifeless.
Although he was just a general manager here, he knew a thing or two about the families backing these powerful figures.
"I think I’ve heard of Sword King Valley, but is this Jiangdong Huang Family very powerful?" Chu Feng asked, turning to Zhao Quan.
At these words, the color drained from Zhao Quan’s face.
"If that’s true, then if those two die here, it will be a monumental disaster for my Zhao Family!" Zhao Quan said in horror.
"Is your Zhao Family afraid of them?" Chu Feng frowned.
"No, the Zhao Family isn’t afraid of them. It’s just that our family’s influence in Beihai is weaker than the Jiangdong Huang Family’s and Sword King Valley’s. If things go south, the Zhao Family will have no choice but to retreat back to the north," Zhao Quan explained.
’It’s over,’ Hu Biao thought, closing his eyes in despair.
"I’ll call Zhao Liu over first, and Sister Qinghan and the others," Zhao Quan said, immediately pulling out his phone to make a call.
"Don’t. Calling them over at a time like this would only make you look more suspicious, wouldn’t it?" Chu Feng said.
"If I don’t call them, how are we supposed to handle this?" Zhao Quan asked worriedly.
"Even if you called them, they wouldn’t be able to do anything. But I might be able to give it a try," Chu Feng said.
"Big Brother, you really have a way?" Zhao Quan’s face was a mixture of disbelief and excitement.
"We won’t know unless I try, will we?" Chu Feng said, then walked toward the private room.
"You, come here," Zhao Quan called out to Hu Biao.
"Honey, are you really confident about this?" Su Miaoke asked, walking beside Chu Feng.
Chu Feng shook his head. "I’m not sure. I’ll have to see what the situation is first."
When Chu Feng pushed open the door, everyone inside turned to look, especially the bodyguards, who all drew their guns and pointed them at Chu Feng and the others.
