Chapter 163: The 200 Million Villa
"Okay, okay, I’ll stop." Faced with Su Miaoke’s fierce look, Su Jun had no choice but to back down.
He knew his sister’s personality. She was definitely the type to follow through on her threats.
So, to avoid provoking her, Su Jun could only cave.
He had no choice. Otherwise, the fifty million would be gone.
"Hmph. You’d better behave yourself around me," Su Miaoke snorted, then went to her room to change.
Just then, Chu Feng’s mother-in-law smiled at Chu Feng and Jiang Qingyao. "Those two have been bickering like this since they were little. You have no idea how much of a headache it can be."
At home, Su Miaoke had such a forceful personality that even Su Linsheng was afraid of her when she flew into a rage. She was just that headstrong and never backed down.
"Sis, are you done yet? What’s taking you so long just to change clothes?" Su Jun couldn’t help but yell after a dozen or so minutes had passed.
"Stop rushing me! If you say one more word, you can go by yourself," Su Miaoke’s voice called out.
"Fine, fine, take your sweet time," Su Jun said with a look of resignation.
A few more minutes passed before Su Miaoke finally emerged from her room.
Chu Feng was long accustomed to this side of Su Miaoke.
Every time she went out, she had to try on a dozen outfits and do her makeup.
Chu Feng didn’t dare rush her, lest he get an earful.
Soon, the family drove to the residential complex Su Jun had his eye on and arrived at the sales office.
"That villa community Su Jun mentioned... I asked around and, you’ll never guess, the developer is an old acquaintance of your father’s! Your dad already spoke with him. If we buy, he’ll even give us a discount. We can save a lot," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said with a smile.
"That’s great. How big is the villa Su Jun picked out?" Chu Feng asked.
"It’s not that big, probably a little under three hundred square meters," his mother-in-law replied.
"Under three hundred? That’s perfect. I might need to buy one too. My little brother is graduating soon, and he’ll need a place to live," Su Miaoke said.
"Your little brother? Aren’t we buying this one for your little brother?" his mother-in-law asked, looking confused.
"Mom, she means my brother, Chu Hao," Chu Feng explained.
"Oh, Chu Hao is about to graduate? Then he’ll definitely need a house. Why don’t we just buy both while we’re at it," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said with a nod.
"Are you paying?" Su Miaoke asked.
"Where would I get that kind of money? Your dad’s company is expanding and needs capital for everything. How could we possibly spare any? If we could, would I have needed you to chip in for your brother? You think I’m loaded like you?" Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said, giving Su Miaoke a sideways glance.
Although the Su Family business was a major corporation with a market value of over two billion, they had very little liquid cash. Everything was reinvested into the company’s capital turnover and operations.
That thirty million was the absolute most Chu Feng’s mother-in-law could scrape together.
So, the implication of the mother-in-law’s words was already obvious; she knew Su Miaoke had money.
"I don’t have any money. I only have a little, and besides, Chu Feng and I are in urgent need of cash right now," Su Miaoke said.
"Mom, don’t worry about it," Chu Feng said. "Since we’re buying two anyway—one for my brother-in-law and one for my own brother—we’ll just buy them together. You can keep the thirty million for emergencies."
Chu Feng’s mother-in-law had long since heard that Chu Feng was sitting on tens of billions. Now she was hoping to get a little of it out of him, she just wasn’t saying so outright.
Of course, even if it weren’t for buying the houses, Chu Feng would have taken care of his in-laws. After all, if he needed money, he could earn it anytime.
"Oh, Xiao Feng, you’re the best! Miaoke must have been blessed for eight lifetimes to marry you!" his mother-in-law exclaimed happily.
What truly pleased her was that she only had to drop a hint, and Chu Feng immediately understood what to do.
Listening to them, Su Miaoke was a little speechless.
’Anyone who didn’t know what was going on would think I’m a completely heartless daughter.’
"Mom, you said all that just to get Chu Feng to say those words, didn’t you?" Su Miaoke remarked.
"Listen to yourself. It’s true what they say: a daughter who marries out is like water that’s been thrown away. You heartless girl! Even Xiao Feng knows to leave me with some emergency funds, and here you are trying to squeeze me dry?" his mother-in-law retorted.
"Am I the one squeezing you dry? Isn’t it for your precious son?" Su Miaoke said, rolling her eyes.
"Look at you, being so generous now that you’re rich," Su Miaoke added, shooting a glare at Chu Feng.
Although Su Miaoke said it, she was only teasing. She really didn’t care about the money.
After all, she was quite a wealthy woman herself. This amount of money was just a drop in the bucket.
"She’s our mom. How could I be stingy?" Chu Feng said with a smile.
The banter kept Chu Feng’s mother-in-law delighted the entire way there.
Soon, they arrived at the sales office.
Chu Feng’s mother-in-law was absolutely ecstatic. She pulled Jiang Qingyao inside, made even happier by the fact that Chu Feng had offered to pay for everything.
"Qingyao, what do you think? Is this side better, or that side?" the mother-in-law continuously asked for Jiang Qingyao’s opinion.
This left Jiang Qingyao feeling a bit overwhelmed. For a moment, she was at a loss for words. How could she dare to voice an opinion on such matters?
These were all villas, with even the cheapest ones costing twenty or thirty million. That was more money than she could ever earn in several lifetimes.
"Um... you should ask Su Jun. Whatever he wants is fine," Jiang Qingyao said softly.
"Absolutely not. Why should he get to decide? You need to be the one in charge of this family in the future. If we let that boy call the shots, he’ll think he can walk all over you," said the mother-in-law.
"How about this one? Yao Lake Villa One," the mother-in-law said, pointing to the property in the best location. "Its location is prime, and it just so happens to be available. It’s very spacious and convenient. What do you think?"
"What? That one? The starting price for that villa is two hundred million!" Su Miaoke’s eyes widened when she saw which one her mother was pointing at.
She never thought her mother would be so audacious, picking the absolute best one right from the start without a shred of concern for the cost.
"What’s the big deal? It’s just average," the mother-in-law said, glancing at Chu Feng. "This is for your brother’s future marriage, after all. We should definitely get a nice one. Besides, Yao Lake Villa Two is right next door, and it’s just as nice. We can get that one for Chu Hao. They’ll be so close, they can visit each other all the time. How perfect is that?"
She had deliberately mentioned Chu Hao as she spoke.
She wasn’t about to be modest now. She knew how rich Chu Feng was; this amount of money was nothing to him.
"Mom, you decide. As long as you like it, that’s all that matters," Chu Feng said. ’I can’t believe this,’ he thought with a sense of helplessness. ’I never expected my mother-in-law to be so brazen.’
"If you ask me, this is the one," his mother-in-law declared.
