Chapter 180
Kate’s Point of View
Rose and I walked around for about an hour. Everyoen watched as we walked by. Some of the pack members greeted us. When we decided to go back to the Redmoon Packhouse, I decided to sit on the steps by the front door. I didn’t feel like seeing Ethan, Nathan, or Derek. I was still upset at how they acted. Well, I guess Ethan didn’t really do anything. It was mostly Derek and Nathan.
Rose went inside to see what they were doing. After about twenty minutes, they all came outside.
"Kate, can I talk to you for a minute, alone?" Derek asked.
"Yeah," I replied, and Derek and I walked down the steps away from everyone.
"Kate, I am sorry for the way I acted today," Derek said
"I am not a little girl anymore, Derek. You can’t make lifelong decisions for me," I said
"I know. But you have to remember that you are my little sister. It is my job to protect you. I am really sorry for upsetting you. I know that they are your mates, and I can tell you already chose to give them a chance. I will stand behind you one hundred percent. I got your back," Derek said
"Thank you, Derek," I replied as I hugged him. He hugged me back. I understood why he acted the way he did. I was his little sister, and he had always protected me. He needed to understand that I had to make decisions for myself.
We walked back over to where Rose was standing by Ethan and Nathan.
"I am sorry for coming here the way I did," Derek said to Ethan and Nathan. That made me smile. I knew he was doing that for me.
"We understand. Kate is your little sister. You are only trying to look out for her," Ethan said
"But you need to know that Kate is our fated mate and we would never harm her," Nathan said
"I hope you really mean that," Derek said
"We do," Nathan replied
"How about we go and eat breakfast then? Nathan and I will accompany you back to the Bloodmoon Pack if that is okay with you, Kate," Ethan said
"Yes, that is fine," I replied. Honestly, I liked the idea of them coming with me. I didn’t want to be away from them. Whenever I was, I felt like a part of me was missing.
We made our way to the dining hall and ate breakfast. Then, we headed back to the Bloodmoon Pack. I rode with Ethan and Nathan while Rose and Derek rode in their car.
"I wanted to tell you that I am really sorry if I upset you when I argued with your brother. I shouldn’t have let my anger get the best of me. I promise I will do my best not to let that happen again," Nathan said, shocking me. I knew he wasn’t the type to apologize or change his ways for anyone. It made me feel good knowing that he was trying to change for me.
"Thank you. You have no idea how much I appreciate that," I said
"Anything for you, Love," Nathan replied, and I smiled.
When we arrived back home, we walked inside. Mom was downstairs talking to some of her friends.
"Hey, you guys are back. I guess everything is okay since you all came back together," My mom said
"Yes, everything is fine, Mom," I replied
"Mom, is Dad in his office?" Derek asked.
"Yes," my mom said
"We are going to go talk to him about pack stuff," Derek said
"We will be back in a minute, Love," Nathan said
"Okay," I said, and they left. "I wonder what that was about?" I asked
"I don’t know," Rose said
"Don’t worry about it. How about you girls help me in the garden?" My mom said
"Okay," I replied
"So, how did you feel sleeping in the same bed with your mates?" My mom asked
"It was okay," I said
"Did you just sleep, or did you do more?" My mom asked
"MOM! Please stop," I said. It was weird talking to my mom about this
"I am just asking. "
"We didn’t do anything but sleep. I promise. Honestly, I slept better than I have in a long time," I said
"That is the power of the matebond. It will be hard to stay away from your mates now that you have them," My mom said
"Yep," Rose added
"So, how did Derek act when he showed up this morning?" My mom asked, and I told her what happened when he came to the Redmoon Pack
"You know he is your brother, and he only wants what’s best for you. It will be hard for him at first to realize that they are your mates.
"I know. He apologized and told me he was going to stand by my decision. I just hope they can get along," I said
