Chapter 179
Kate’s Point of View
I couldn’t believe Derek had shown up. I was sure he was furious that I stayed the night with Ethan and Nathan.
"Where is my sister? I want to see her now," I heard Derek say as I walked to the front of the packhouse. Ethan and Nathan were walking by my side. I opened the front door and walked outside to see Derek and Rose standing there.
"How dare you have my sister stay the night here?" Derek said
"Derek, calm down," Rose said
"We didn’t make Kate do anything. She chose to stay here, and your father knew she was staying," Ethan said.
"Kate, come here now. We are leaving," Derek growled, and Nathan got in front of me as if he was protecting me from Derek.
"She doesn’t have to go if she doesn’t want to," Nathan said
"Who do you think you are to tell me that? She is my little sister," Derek said, his eyes were changing from blue to black.
"And she is our mate," Nathan said, his eyes were also changing.
"Kate, I am not okay with you being their fated mate. You are going to reject them now. They are not right for you. They have been with many she-wolves," Derek said
"Look whose talking. From what I know, you were the biggest manwhore before you met your mate," Nathan said
"Why you..."
I was afraid that they would start fighting, so I spoke.
"THAT IS ENOUGH!" I said, and that caused everyone to look at me
"Nathan, he is my brother, and Derek, they are my fated mates. I am not going to let you fight each other," I said
"Kate, I am just looking out for you," Derek said
"I am not a kid anymore, Derek. You can not boss me around like that. Mom and Dad knew that I stayed the night here. They told me it was fine. You don’t have the right to come here and demand that I leave with you," I said
"Tell him, Love," Nathan said
"And Derek is my brother. I get that you didn’t like what he said, but you can’t fight him. Neither of you can fight each other," I said
"But he...:
"I know, but still," I said, and then I sighed in frustration. I had a headache.
"I am going to go for a walk and get some fresh air," I said
"I will go with you," Rose said, and we left Nathan, Ethan, and Derek at the front of the packhouse.
We walked in silence for a while. I was upset. Derek had no right to tell me to reject my mates. Nathan was right. He was a manwhore before meeting Rose. He had no right to look down on them.
"Are you okay, Kate?" Rose asked, and I sighed
"Yeah, I just think it is wrong that Derek told me that I should re... I can’t even say the word. I mean, he is acting like he is perfect. We all know he was before he met you," I said, and Rose just stared forward. I started to feel bad.
"I am sorry, Rose. I didn’t mean to..."
"No, you are right. Derek was a manwhore before he knew me. I get why you are upset. I would have been upset too if I were you. Derek was wrong, but he is only trying to look out for you. He is your big brother after all," Rose said
"I know. I am just upset. I don’t want them to fight. It hurts too much knowing that they hate each other," I said
"I am sure that will change. They all love you, and they will do anything for you," Rose said. I wasn’t sure if that was possible, but I hoped she was right.
Ethan’s Point of View
We all watched as Kate and Rose walked away. I was pissed. Nathan and Derek had made Kate upset.
"I hope the two of you are happy now," I said, and they both looked at me.
"He stated it," Nathan said
"I only came to protect my sister," Derek said
"She doesn’t need protection from us," Nathan said
"Could have fooled me," Derek said. Now I was over their arguing.
"Enough. We have more important things to talk about. We are not the ones you should be worried about right now," I said
"What do you mean?" Derek asked
"We should talk in my office," I said, and we headed to my office.
"What is going on?" Derek asked as we sat down
"Both times Kate came here, there has been a trespasser," I said
"And?" Derek asked confused
"We are the Redmoon Pack. No one ever dares to come here. Those were the only two times this has happened. We are worried that whoever it is came for Kate," I said
"Did you capture them?" Derek asked
"The trackers couldn’t track them. Everytime we got close, they vanished," Nathan said. Derek had a look of worry on his face.
"What’s wrong?" I asked
"We have had some of the same types of problems. Trespassers coming onto the territory. I thought it might be some pups or something from other packs. But the trackers also couldn’t track their scent," Derek said
"And you didn’t think to look into it?" Nathan asked
"I told you I thought it might be pups. It isn’t uncommon for the younger werewolves to come onto our territory. But now I wonder if it might be more," Derek said
That is what we are worried about. We are worried they might be coming for Kate," I said
"Why would they come for her?" Derek asked
"We don’t know, but we need to find out," Nathan said
There was a knock on the door, and Daniel walked in after I told him to come in. "Luna Rose is here," Daniel said
"Let her in," I said, and she rushed into the room.
"The three of you should be ashamed of yourselves. You have no idea how upset Kate is about how you acted," Rose said
"He started it," Derek and Nathan said at the same time.
"You came on my territory and demanded that my mate leave me," Nathan said
"She is my sister. I am looking out for her," Derek said
"Enough," Rose said
"You are on my territory. I don’t have to listen to you," Nathan said
"You will if you care for Kate. She cares for all three of you. You are her mates, and you are her brothers. You can’t fight with each other if you want her to be happy," Rose said, and we all knew she was right.
"You are right, Flower. I was wrong," Derek said
"I wasn’t wrong, but I shouldn’t have let you get to me like that," Nathan said
"For the record, I didn’t do anything," I said
"I guess I have no choice but to put up with the two of you. Let me make this clear. If you hurt my sister, I will get both of you.
"I would kill myself before I hurt her," Nathan said
"Me too," I added. We meant it. Kate was our life, and we would never harm her.
