My Married Roommate Asked Me to Give Her a Baby

Chapter 39 – That Woman

The trip should have taken more than ten minutes.

Evan twisted the throttle to the limit, weaving through traffic on the motorcycle. In five minutes, he killed his way to the hospital.

The moment the bike stopped, the woman on the back seat was already pressed tightly against Evan's back, her whole body limp. She had completely passed out.

Evan said nothing.

He lifted her in both arms and rushed into the hospital lobby.

"Doctor! Doctor! Hurry, save her. She's fading!"

The front-desk nurse saw the situation and quickly called emergency staff to push over a stretcher.

Several people worked in a rush, moved the woman onto it, and ran toward the emergency room.

Before long, a nurse came out with a phone and handed it to Evan.

The phone had been hanging from the woman's neck.

At that time, phone straps worn around the neck were still common. Young men and women thought walking around like that looked stylish.

The nurse looked Evan over.

"Are you family?"

Evan shook his head.

"No. I just passed by and helped."

The nurse nodded.

"Then use her phone and call her family quickly. The patient is in critical condition and may need blood."

"Okay."

Evan had grown this big and had never run into such a mess before.

He took the phone and opened the contacts.

There happened to be one contact marked Mom.

Evan pressed call without thinking.

The phone rang several times before the other side picked up.

"Hello?"

The voice was low.

Evan frowned.

For some reason, he felt he had heard that voice before, but he could not remember where.

"Hello. Your daughter was in a traffic accident. I just brought her to the hospital."

"She's in emergency now. The doctor says she may need blood. You need to come quickly."

The other side went silent, obviously stunned.

Two seconds later, an anxious voice came through.

"Which hospital? I'll come right away."

Evan gave the address.

After hanging up, he found a bench in the hallway, sat down, crossed his legs, and waited for the girl's family to appear.

After a little more than ten minutes, a woman in casual clothes rushed into the emergency hall, sweating and looking around.

She came straight to Evan.

"Were you the one who called?"

Evan lifted his head.

Their eyes met.

The woman had a fiery figure. Even in loose casual clothing, she could not hide those mature curves.

Evan recognized her at once.

The woman also froze when she saw him.

She was the woman from the gambling room who had wanted to hire Evan.

"It's you?"

They spoke almost at the same time.

Evan waved his hand and pointed toward the emergency room.

"Don't talk about that now. The nurse was looking for family. Surgery needs a signature. Go."

"Right!"

The woman snapped back to herself and ran to the triage desk in flat shoes.

The nurse handed her a stack of forms. She signed quickly, then ran to pay.

After finishing the whole process, she finally let out a long breath.

Evan walked over.

"What did the doctor say?"

"The doctor said luckily no bones were broken. Her head needs stitches. There are some internal injuries and blood loss, but it should be manageable."

Evan clicked his tongue.

"Unlucky, but lucky inside the bad luck."

He looked at her.

"What kind of mother are you? Your daughter rides that fast and you don't usually teach her?"

Being lectured face to face by a young man much younger than herself made the woman lose face. Her cheeks reddened slightly.

"I'm sorry. Work is usually busy, and I neglected discipline. After she gets better, I'll manage her properly."

Evan nodded. He did not want to meddle too much.

After returning the phone, he stood and patted his pants.

"If there's nothing else, I'll go."

"Wait."

The woman instinctively reached out and grabbed Evan's wrist.

"You helped me so much, and I don't even know your name."

"Evan Carter."

"Mr. Carter, um... let me give you some money."

The woman hurriedly opened her handbag and pulled out her wallet.

Inside was a thick stack of cash, at least ten or twenty thousand.

She grabbed more than half and directly stuffed it into Evan's hand.

"Mr. Carter, you deserve this."

Evan did not put on fake politeness.

He accepted it and casually tucked it into his pocket.

Evan was not the kind of moralistic male lead who preached kindness with an empty stomach.

First, he had truly done work today and saved a life. This money was deserved.

Second, he had never thought of himself as a noble person.

Doing good deeds without leaving a name?

To hell with that.

If doing good brought no benefit and nobody knew about it, who would still be willing to do good?

If good actions were never seen, fewer and fewer people in society would help.

One day, if Evan himself got into trouble and needed help, others might stand coldly by as well.

Seeing Evan accept the money so cleanly, the woman actually smiled.

"Mr. Carter, can I save your number? I'll invite you to dinner later and thank you properly."

Evan nodded.

Meeting twice in such a huge city counted as fate, so he gave his number.

After the woman saved it, Evan turned and left the hospital.

Looking at his back, the woman stood in place and felt that something would definitely happen between her and this young man in the future.

In truth, Evan felt the same.

The first time he clearly saw this woman's face, he had known something would happen between them.

He just had not expected it to come so quickly.

At the hospital entrance, Evan packed some food nearby and took a taxi straight to school.

There was still some time before class. Evan occupied a cafeteria table with Wendy and Wayne, eating happily.

Ever since Wendy had slept with Evan, her whole aura had changed.

Her clothes had opened up completely. She looked sexier.

Before, although Wendy had a good figure, she always wore ordinary jeans, white sneakers, and plain T-shirts.

Today, she wore a tight low-cut camisole that exposed her flat stomach, paired with denim shorts cut high on her thighs and white sneakers.

She looked fresh, hot, and tempting.

As Evan ate, images from that day in the room flashed through his mind again and again. The way Wendy had clung to him, turned beneath him, and melted after the storm made him want to find another place and have her all over again.

Wendy noticed Evan staring straight at her while eating.

Her face reddened immediately.

"What are you looking at? Eat."

Evan curled his lips and licked them lightly.

"I don't want food anymore. I want you."

Wayne, sitting across from them, immediately made an exaggerated gagging motion.

"Damn it, boss. There are outsiders here. I just ate. Don't make me throw up."

"Get lost."

Evan laughed and shoved Wayne's fat head away.

After eating, the three returned to the classroom.

During class, Fiona was restless. She kept glancing toward Evan's seat, then looking away, then glancing again.

Evan's senses were sharp. He had already noticed Fiona constantly looking at him.

He sneered inwardly, thinking she still wanted trouble.

When the bell rang, he walked to the empty seat in front of Fiona, sat down, turned around, and stared at her.

"Why do you keep staring at me? Still haven't been beaten enough? Want another fight?"
