Chapter 38 – Crow’s Mouth
Evan lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Finally, he took out his phone and messaged Wendy.
Wendy, asleep yet?
She replied quickly.
Not yet. What's wrong?
Tomorrow, want to get a room again? I thought of some new moves.
Wendy refused directly.
No. My period came.
All right. Take care of yourself. I'll bring you some chicken soup tomorrow morning.
Evan turned off the screen and bit his lip helplessly.
His girlfriend was still new. Like a new car, there had to be a break-in period.
But ever since that night on Hannah's bed when he had almost misfired, Evan had felt a fire buried low in his abdomen.
If he could not find some outlet, keeping it trapped inside was uncomfortable as hell.
He simply took off his shirt and got up, planning to smoke on the balcony and cool himself down.
When he passed the bathroom, water was running inside.
The image of Chloe's heated figure flashed through his mind, and the fire he had barely pressed down surged up again.
He reached the balcony, lit a cigarette, and took a hard drag. The nicotine finally cleared his head a little.
He had only taken a couple of puffs when he heard someone call from the bathroom.
"Hannah, I forgot to bring a bath towel. Can you get one for me?"
Chloe called twice.
But Hannah was in the master bedroom and did not hear.
Evan walked over and knocked on the bathroom door.
"Chloe, Hannah fell asleep. She didn't hear you."
Chloe answered from inside, "Oh, Evan. Then... look around and bring me a towel."
Evan looked up.
A dry bath towel happened to be hanging on the balcony rack.
He pulled it down and walked to the door.
"Chloe, open up. I have the towel."
The lock clicked.
Chloe carefully opened the door a narrow crack.
Hot steam mixed with the fragrance of body wash rushed into Evan's face.
Although the door opened only a sliver, Evan still saw a flash of pale skin through the gap.
Only a little was visible, but that kind of half-covered glimpse was even more lethal. It made the imagination do the rest.
Evan quickly handed the towel over and pretended to be righteous by turning his face away.
Chloe snatched the towel inside.
Click.
The door shut again.
After that interruption, Evan was completely unable to sleep.
He simply went to the living room, lay on the sofa, and flipped through television channels in boredom.
Before long, the shower stopped.
A while later, Chloe came out wearing a tight black slip dress, wiping her damp hair with a towel as she walked.
"Thanks for that."
As she spoke, she sat directly beside Evan on the sofa without avoiding him at all.
Evan glanced from the corner of his eye, and his eyelids jumped.
Chloe was not wearing anything underneath.
The two sat close. When she breathed and spoke, the front of the slip moved with obvious freedom, making it clear there was no bra restraining her.
After drying her hair, Chloe tossed the towel aside, turned her head, and stared at Evan. A wicked smile rose at her lips.
"Evan, you're still a virgin, aren't you?"
Evan had already crossed that threshold with Wendy, but he still followed the act and nodded.
"Yeah."
"No wonder you're so shy."
Chloe leaned a little closer, her voice carrying a hoarse temptation.
"When you have time, come to my club. Chloe will find you a pretty girl to teach you."
"A man only really matures after he learns that part of life. Understand?"
Evan pretended to half-understand and nodded.
Chloe smiled, stood, and swayed back toward the guest room to sleep.
When the guest room door clicked shut, Evan let out a heavy breath.
Who could withstand that?
He quickly rushed into the bathroom, planning to take a cold shower and drown the fire in his body.
After locking the door, he lifted his head and froze.
Chloe's changed underwear was hanging casually on the nearby rack.
Evan could not resist picking it up for one look.
The panties were the type with only thin straps on both sides and a narrow piece of semi-transparent fabric in the middle.
Then he looked at the bra.
He was directly shocked.
Good heaven.
That size could probably hold two grapefruits.
How could a woman be built like that?
The next morning, Evan had class.
Hannah had errands early and drove away first, leaving Evan to take the bus to school.
He waited a long time at the bus stop downstairs without seeing a bus, so he simply walked along the road toward the next stop.
It was still early anyway.
He could also check whether there was a small diner along the way and pack chicken soup for Wendy.
After walking a few hundred meters, the roar of an engine suddenly came from behind him.
Whoosh.
A heavy motorcycle shot past right in front of him.
It was fast and sharp.
The rider was a woman wearing a black one-piece leather suit that wrapped tightly around her body. She wore a helmet, so her face could not be seen, but the curve of her figure was fierce and stylish.
Evan was startled by the wind she kicked up.
He clicked his tongue and cursed irritably.
"Driving that fast, go crash yourself, idiot."
The result was almost as if his words had law behind them.
As soon as he finished speaking, a dull bang came from the intersection ahead.
The motorcycle failed to dodge in time and smashed into a black sedan turning right.
The woman in leather was thrown by the force, flying through the air in an arc before crashing heavily onto the hard asphalt.
Evan froze.
Then he slapped his own mouth twice.
"Pah, pah, pah. Damn crow's mouth."
Cursing was cursing.
He still ran quickly toward the accident.
It was morning rush hour. There were many cars and many people, and soon the road was jammed tight.
A crowd gathered quickly, but looking at the woman on the ground, not one person dared step forward to help.
Evan squeezed into the crowd, crouched, and lifted the visor of the woman's helmet.
There was a large wound on her forehead. Blood kept pouring out, staining half her face red. She was close to passing out.
Evan knew very clearly that with the main road blocked like this, by the time an ambulance arrived, the woman might already be gone.
He stood and shouted at the crowd.
"Is anyone willing to drive her to the hospital?"
The crowd stepped back in unison as if they had seen a ghost.
Evan understood.
These days, the cost of doing good was too high. Everyone feared getting dragged into trouble.
But he could not step over the feeling in his heart.
He always felt the accident had happened because he had cursed her.
He stopped wasting words, went over, and lifted the fallen motorcycle upright.
He squeezed the clutch and tried starting it.
The engine roared again.
Lucky.
It could still move.
He pointed at a decent-looking man nearby.
"Brother, can you help?"
The man hesitated, then honestly nodded and walked forward.
Evan got onto the motorcycle and asked the man to help lift the injured woman onto the back seat, pressed tightly against his back.
Then he took off his belt and tied her securely around his waist.
Before twisting the throttle, Evan turned his head and shouted loudly behind him.
"Stay awake. Hold on. I'm taking you to the hospital now."
