Chapter 25: Genesis at last
All the women remained bowing towards him for several seconds before Rebecca nervously asked, “Umm, why exactly are we bowing?”
“Well, well, isn’t this a sight to behold,” Kaela remarked from where she continued to sit within the picture. “Bowing is the least you can do for failing John, Alexia.”
“I’m aware of that, aunty,” Alexia replied as she stopped bowing and returned to standing up, while the other women followed her lead as she looked back at John. “I hope one day you can forgive us and forgive me.”
John honestly didn’t know what to say at that point, so he just nodded, causing all the women except Rebecca to smile. Though that was only because she had no idea what was going on.
“So, I’m assuming you will want to jump into Genesis as soon as your access band is ready?” Alexia asked.
John nodded. “If that’s alright?”
“It’s fine,” Alexia smiled. “Use one of the beds here while I have Rebecca and Sarah watch over you.”
“But I’ve got an ongoing quest, and I’ve already been delayed,” Rebecca pouted.
“You're giving John an untested access band and you can’t even be bothered to watch over him in case anything goes wrong?” Alexia asked angrily.
Rebecca tucked her neck in at the scolding before saying, “Well, since you put it that way.”
“Very good,” Alexia replied before looking back at John and saying. “If you will excuse me, I still have the issue in Dawnscape City to attend to.”
“Of course,” John replied.
“Then I will be by to check up on you later, Adria, Maria,” Alexia replied before she turned on her heel and left the room. Maria gave John another slight bow before following, while Adria smiled and waved as she departed.
“Well, that was something else,” Rebecca said in amazement after the three had left. “What exactly did you do?”
“It wasn’t what he did; it’s what was done to him,” Sarah replied.
“And that is?” Rebecca asked.
“I would also like to hear the full story,” Kaela remarked.
“I will tell you after John logs in,” Sarah replied before looking at John and asking. “If that's ok with you?”
“It’s fine; they'll hear about it sooner or later,” John shrugged.
Sarah giggled before glancing at Kaela while adding, “Especially with the expert eavesdropping in the walls.”
“I resent that accusation. I have never dropped and eaves,” Kaela replied.
Just then the machine made a sound to indicate that it was finished updating John’s access band to the MK Zero and after she picked it up, Rebecca offered it to him while saying, “Here you go.”
“Thanks,” John said as he slid it onto his wrist.
“Wow, now that I see it up close, that jet black colour makes it look way cooler than our regular bands,” Sarah remarked.
"Anything feel strange? Rebecca asked.
"Nope, everything feels normal," John replied.
"Ok, good, let's give it a try, kiddo,” Rebecca remarked before smiling as she asked. “Are you ready for your very first excursion into Genesis?"
"Ever since I learned I finally did not need to worry about working for food, I have been looking forward to being able to play," John said excitedly.
"That's what I like to hear, kido,” Rebecca nodded. “Ok so since this is your first time entering and because we have never used the MK Zero in Genesis before, I want you to sync here in the medical room so the equipment can keep an eye on you,"

“Wasn’t that what Aunt instructed anyway?” Sarah asked. “Why are you trying to make it sound like it was your idea?”
“That was my original plan all along,” Rebecca said defensively.
“And yet you wanted to go work on a quest in Genesis,” Kaela added.
Rebecca looked hurt at being teamed up on, so she turned to the only person in the room who wasn’t attacking her and asked, “Help me out here, kiddo, you believe me, right?”
“Stop using your charms to try and sway him; he isn’t like all those men that are pursuing you,” Adria stated in annoyance.
“It’s not my fault I’m so popular with the men,” Rebecca replied while flashing John a flirtatious wink.
“It’s entirely your fault; I’ve seen you flirting with them on holocalls when you thought no one was watching,” Kaela teased.
“Damn picture haunting spectre, I need to toss every picture out,” Rebecca cursed.
“Good luck with that,” Kaela giggled.
Whatever,” Sarah said with a sigh before asking, "Are you expecting any problems?"
"Not really, but it's better to be safe than sorry for these kinds of things. Also, if he is here and we monitor any issues, we can request that Tia log him out straight away," Rebecca replied.
Sarah nodded and was about to say something else when her access band alerted her to a message that made her smile.
“Good news?” Rebecca asked.
“One of my friends who turned eighteen today has successfully completed the initiation,” Sarah explained. “She heard about my rebirth and wanted to know what starter village I rebirthed in to see if we could play together.”
“So tell her,” Rebecca replied.
“I can’t; I’m on a twelve-hour lockout from Genesis,” Sarah sighed.
“Is that a downside to the rebirth?” Rebecca asked since she had heard about it on Genesis News.
“I’ll explain later,” Sarah replied before holding her access band over John’s, causing both of them to make a sound before a holographic screen appeared over each of them.
John looked at his and saw that it was a friend request.
[Blue Ice Queen (Sarah Lapis) would like to add you as a friend.]
[Would you like to accept?]
[Yes] [No]
John smiled before immediately clicking [Yes], which caused Sarah's smile to increase.
“If you need any help, make sure to message me,” Sarah stated. “Also, if you happen to meet a human called Dream Star in the starter village, tell her I said hello.”
“Sure,” John nodded.
"If you're all set, then just pick any of the beds, kiddo," Rebecca instructed.
John nodded and went and lay down on the nearest bed as he heard Kaela say, "You're so lucky, John. I wish I could play."
"I would like to play with you also, Kaela,” John replied, making the little princess smile and blush slightly as he took a deep breath and closed his eyes before saying the words he had always wished to say but never could until now.
"Genesis Sync"

In another part of Eclipse City, a fabulously beautiful woman with long white-pink hair, shockingly pink eyes and massive breasts sat on an overly large bed while pouting in disappointment at the message she just received.
[Sara Lapis: Sorry Mel, but because of my rebirth I’m locked out of Genesis for 12 hours and I don’t know what starter village I’ve been sent to yet. I will be sure to let you know once I can log in, though.]
“Damn, what a bummer,” the woman Sarah addressed as Mel stated. “I haven’t hung out with Sarah in ages and he rebirth just happened to come at the perfect time after my initiation too. I’ll have to hope we get put in the same starter village.”
Just as she was about to close the message and log into Genesis for the first time, Sarah sent her another message, which she quickly read.
[Sarah Lapis: BTW, I told another friend that you were also starting today and asked him to keep an eye out for you. He’s a total noob when it comes to Genesis, hehe. So do me a favour and help him out.]
“A friend and he’s male?” Mel said in surprise before groaning. “God’s sack, Sarah, can you be any denser? How do you think he’ll react when he sees me in Genesis and recognises me?]
Mel shook her head and closed the message before lying down on her bed and closing her eyes before saying, “Genesis Sync.”

As John said those words, he felt his consciousness fade away until he suddenly thought he heard Tia's voice say.
"John Michaels, I’ve been waiting for you."
When he opened his eyes again, he was in the familiar white room he had seen back during his initiation, and Tia was standing in front of him with a small smile.
"Welcome, John Michaels."
"Hello, Tia, and please just call me John."
Tia tilted her head to the side before she said.
"Very well, John,” Tia replied as her smile increased slightly. “Welcome to Genesis. All you need to do is choose your character name, and I will be sent to one of the Eloa continents' starter villages."
“Can you send me to the same one you will send Sarah, I mean Blue Ice Queen?” John asked.
Tia shook her head while saying, “I’m afraid not. The opportunity I told you about requires you to not receive any help from more experienced players. While that wouldn’t normally be an issue, Blue Ice Queen’s rebirth makes it one.”
“Shame, I hope she’s not too disappointed,” John replied. "Are there any restrictions on my name?"
"Not really, you just can't have a name already chosen for obvious reasons."
John thought for several minutes before he finally decided on.
"Vincarna" (Translations: new-made, renewed)
Tia showed a surprised look before smiling and saying.
"The elf word for renewed, very fitting."
"Very well, Vincarna, welcome to Genesis."
