Chapter 18: Adria Bristle

“Shopping?” John asked.

“Sure, we need to get you some new clothes and other essentials; also, you really need a haircut.”

“You have a grudge against my hair, don’t you?”

“How can I not? I’m surprised you can even see with how long those bangs are,” Sarah teased.

John was about to reply when he suddenly noticed something. The car had passed through several security checkpoints without stopping and had now started to climb the hill on which the imperial palace sat. “Are we heading towards the palace?”

“Yup, I believe Aunt wants to meet you so that she can apologise again in person. Also, the doctor you will see lives in the palace.”

“Isn’t that something you should have told me beforehand?”

“Oops,” Sarah replied while sticking out her tongue.

“Oops, she says,” John replied while rolling his eyes. “So why does the greatest doctor in the human race live in the imperial palace?”

As the car circled the hill and climbed higher, John realised that the waterfall didn’t sit beside the palace but seemed to flow out of it, meaning the palace sat over the waterfall. The palace climbed higher the closer to its centre you got; it was mainly white and silver in colour, while the top of each dome or spire was gold in colour. Many trees grew up the hill and out of the cliffside, while many more grew within the different palace gardens.

“I thought it was the elves who were supposed to be the tree people,” John remarked.

“Make that comment again after you visit their palace.”

“Like that’s going to happen,” John scoffed while continuing to look out the car's window.

Eventually they reached the outer walls of the palace and, just like at the foot of the mountain, the cars passed through the checkpoint without being stopped before pulling into a courtyard and finally stopping next to a flight of steps.

The security personnel quickly disembarked before they came and opened the doors to the car on each side, allowing John and Sarah to disembark.

John happened to be on the side facing the flight of steps, so he looked up and saw the palace's grand entrance in amazement. Emma giggled as she came around the car and saw his reaction before she quickly took him by the hand and dragged him up the steps while saying, “Stop gawking and let's go.”

“Whoa, hey, slow down,” John said, but all Sarah did was laugh happily back at him while she continued to lead him up the steps.

“Someone's impatient,” A playful voice stated from the top of the steps and as John looked up, he saw a beautiful woman with long red hair and grey eyes smiling back at them. John naturally recognised her since he had read the lineage of the royal family. She was Princess Adria Bristle and she went by Red Rose in the game.

“Adria, I wasn’t expecting you to come greet us,” Sarah said happily, without releasing John’s hand, something he and Adria both noticed.

“Well, how could I not come greet our special guest?” Adria replied before teasingly asking. “Are you worried he'll run away, or do you just enjoy holding his hand?”

“What? Oh, sorry,” Sarah said with embarrassment as she quickly released John’s hand while a slight blush crept up her cheeks. “{Fuck, his hand felt so natural to hold that I didn’t even realise I was still holding it.}

“Heee,” Adria replied, after which she turned to John while holding the edges of her dress and curtsied while saying, “Welcome, John. I am Princess Adria Bristle and on behalf of the Human Imperial Family I welcome you to the Imperial Palace of Golden Dawns.”

“Thank you for the warm welcome, Miss Bristle,” John politely replied.

Adria didn’t mind that John didn’t address he by her title, which was customary, infact she was just relieved that he was polite since she was half expecting to not be. “How was your trip?”

“Eventful,” Sarah replied.

“That’s one way to put it,” Adria replied. “I saw the world announcement and now everyone is talking about your accomplishment. Even Genesis News is doing a feature on it and trying to find out how you did it.”

“They can search all they want; it’s not that easy to find a transcendent tier item,” Sarah replied proudly as she puffed out her chest slightly.

{She’s got a decent rack on her, though her thighs are still her best feature.} John thought.

“Transcendent tier?” Adria repeated in surprise. “No wonder you got the world announcement and became the first person in Genesis to change race.”

“It’s not an entire race change; it’s only twenty percent,” Sarah shrugged.

“It’s still a first and you will need to tell me all about it and show me the information on the transcendent tier item,” Adria stated eagerly.

Sarah rolled her eyes while saying, “Sure, sure, though I’m surprised Alea hasn’t already called you and told you about everything.”

“She gave me the basic rundown,” Adria replied.

“What exactly is a world announcement?” John asked when he found a chance between the two women's conversation.

“Oh, my apologies, John. I got so excited about my cousin's achievement that I didn’t even give you a chance to ask anything.” Adria said apologetically.

“It’s fine; it's nice to see that you both get along so well,” John replied, making both women smile.

Shall we walk while I explain what a world announcement is?” Adria asked and after John nodded, she turned and led the way towards a pair of large open doors.

{HOLY FUCK, look at that ass.} John couldn’t help but think as he got his first look at Adria’s as as she turned away from him. {How can such a perfect ass even exist? If Sarah has the perfect thighs, then Adria definitely wins the trophy for the best ass I have ever seen.}

As they passed through the doors, John found his eyes drawn away from Adria’s amazing ass as he looked around a grand entry hall that had columns rising up on either side of the hall every few meters, while balconies on the upper levels looked out over the entry hall. A small flight of three or four steps led up to the pillars, while in the centre of the hall on either side there were staircases that led up to the upper levels on each side.

Adria led them towards one of the staircases as she began to speak, “Genesis has multiple different levels of announcements, with the Genesis World Announcement being the highest. It only happens when something major happens, such as a new class being discovered or, in Sarah's case, a new race being unlocked. As you can imagine, they are exceptionally rare and before Sarah’s it had been a long time since the last one.”

“Apparently they used to happen all the time back when Genesis first launched, but that was over a hundred years ago,” Sarah added.

“Indeed,” Adria nodded. “Below world announcements are the regional announcements. These only take place when something happens on a regional level or affects a region; the capture of one of the eight great siege castles is a good example.

Next are the racial announcements; these, as you can guess, are announcements that only affect a single specific race, for example the discovery of a new dungeon.”

“Don’t get racial announcements mixed up with racial punishment announcements,” Sarah added. “Those are delivered worldwide, as you will no doubt see in the coming days.”

“After that are a player's individual announcements which only the player sees and are more commonly called notifications,” Adria finished.

“No explanation on those?” John asked curiously.

“My, we are eager to learn,” Adria stated with a teasing smile as she glanced back over her shoulder, making her ass sway a bit more.

Both girls noticed how John’s eyes moved down to Adria’s ass for a fraction of a second before snapping back up, and while Sarah pouted at his reaction and glared at Adria, Adria herself ignored Sarah while her teasing smile transformed into a smirk as she purposefully put a bit more sway into her walk as she explained.

“There is no real reason for me to explain individual announcements, as you will see them for yourself soon enough. You receive a notification for almost everything you do, from accepting and completing quests to killing enemies.”

“I see, thank you for explaining.”

“I’m more than happy to help and answer any questions you may have,” Adria replied.

“That’s my job; I’m going to be his chaperone both here in Eclipse City and in the real world.”

“Oh, and what happens if your rebirth puts you in a different starter village?”

“Not going to happen. I trust Tia to put us together so that I can teach John the ropes; I mean, it makes perfect sense.”

“You know Tia doesn’t work that way, cousin; she never shows favouritism.”

“I’m not so sure about that,” Sarah mumbled as she shot John a glance.
