Chapter 17: Eclipse City
After Sarah had fallen asleep and entered Genesis, John also tried to get some sleep; however, due to his excitement about knowing his life was finally improving and being able to leave Dawnscape City, he simply found it impossible to doze off and so looked out the window while occasionally shooting Sarah glances. {She really is more beautiful than when she was featured on the holonews. And those thighs, I wonder how many men have been crushed between them.}
John shook his head to remove the impure thoughts before he returned to looking out the window. Every so often, the stewardess would ask him if he required anything, and it got to the point where he could not take it anymore.
"I'm sorry, Miss?"
"Emma Redington," Emma politely replied while smiling.
"I'm sorry, Miss Redington, this is all new to me," he said, waving his arm around to indicate the plane and everything before continuing. "I’m not used to being waited on and it makes me slightly uncomfortable. Do you mind if I just relax? I will call you if I need help with anything?
"Of course, Sir, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"It's not your fault, as I said. I am new to all this, and I have no idea what to do or how to act."
After that, Emma left John in peace as he continued to look outside the window when he suddenly heard a familiar voice say, “Thank you?”
John turned to see that Sarah was awake and smiling at him, so he said, “You're back sooner than expected.”
“It seems that the rebirth prevents me from accessing my character for twelve hours,” Sarah replied before teasingly saying. “By the way, Silver Oracle says hello.”
“Who?” John asked in confusion, making Sarah’s eyes widen in surprise before she began to laugh.
“I forgot you don't know much about Genesis, but it’s incredible that you don’t recognise the character name of the elvin princess.”
“Alea Keagwyn?” John asked in surprise.
“You know her name at least.”
“Is this a jab at how I didn’t originally recognise you?”
“Would I do such a thing?” Sarah asked innocently.
“Something tells me you would,” John replied before asking. “Why did the elvin princess send her regards to me, and also why did you say thank you to me?”
“Well, she didn’t in so many words, but she would have done if I didn’t just disappear.”
“You know it’s rude to walk out on royalty, right?”
“Did you forget I’m part royal myself, and I’m fairly sure if anyone was to walk out on royalty here it wouldn’t be me.”
“So, Emma then?” John asked with a smirk, causing Sarah to laugh again.
“As for why I said thank you, there are two reasons. First, I was able to complete the Perfect Blood of the Immortal Phoenix Pearl and achieve rebirth.”
“You did that yourself, not me.”
“Perhaps, but it was because of you that I completed it sooner than anticipated. I honestly had no idea how I was going to complete it after I stole it from the silver guild's treasury.”
“Right, I heard you ransacked it before you left.”
“Yup, and if you're nice to me, I may even give you something,” Sarah teased.
John smiled and shook his head before asking, “And the second reason?”
“Because you were polite to Emma.”

“That's it?”
“You wouldn’t believe how many people are rude to servants, especially in the nobility. I hate to say it, but you are far more likely to find someone who treats them poorly than well.” Sarah said with a sigh. “So I’m relieved to see you're not like that.”
“Do you really think, considering my situation, that I’m in a position to look down on anyone? I mean, if anything, she should be the one looking down on me.”
“Not for much longer.”
“Perhaps,” John said before stifling a yawn that came out of nowhere.
“Try to get some sleep,” Sarah said with a smile.
John nodded before leaning back in the chair and closing his eyes; this time he managed to fall asleep almost instantly.
Sarah smiled at him before signalling for Emma to come over, after which she quietly said, “Please fetch a blanket.”
“Of course,” Emma replied before leaving as Sarah continued to stare at John.
{We really need to get you a haircut.}
Soon Emma returned with the blanket, which Sarah took while thanking her before she tucked it around John.
{I wonder if I really should ask him to be my date to the Genesis Agreement Banquet.}
John didn’t wake up until the captain's voice came over the intercom announcing, "We will be landing at Eclipse City airport in the next few minutes. Please make sure your seatbelt is secured.”
“Sleep well?” Sarah asked as John stretched before fastening his seatbelt.
“Better than in a long time.”
The plane started its descent before eventually touching down and decelerating before it then taxied towards where they were supposed to disembark. Once it stopped, Emma opened the hatch on the side of the plane so that the steps could deploy from beneath the hatch, down to the ground. The pilot and co-pilot appeared and bid them both farewell before they exited the plane and descended the steps.
As they descended, four smart electric cars came speeding towards the plane before stopping in front of the steps.
Several male and female humans dressed in suits stepped out of the vehicles and looked around suspiciously as if checking for any danger before one of the females approached the plane and said, “Welcome back, Miss Lapis. Her Majesty sent us to pick you up.”
“Very good,” Sarah nodded before turning to John and asking, “Shall we?”
John nodded and followed Sarah into one of the middle two cars before the security personnel loaded up and the convoy quickly departed and left the airport.
John and Sarah sat together in the back of one of the cars as they sped out of the airport in the direction of the large sprawling city in the distance. He stared out of the window in wonder at Eclipse City, noticing how it was so different from Dawnscape City, where he had lived his entire life.
Eclipse was far larger than Dawnscape, and yet it didn’t feel like it since it lacked all the skyscrapers that John was used to. In fact, the only building where you could be classified as being high up was the Imperial Palace, which sat on a cliff face next to the top of a waterfall and overlooked the city.
As they passed the city boundary and entered it, John noticed right away that even at the outer edges of the city there was far more greenery than there had been in Dawnscape. They passed parks of various sizes where they saw children playing while their parents talked to one another.
Other than humans, who were obviously in the majority, John saw multiple other races. A group of dwarfs sat outside what appeared to be a pub drinking beer and smoking their pipes. Gnomes were hard at work on some strange gizmo that spun like a top and started to float off the ground before it suddenly stopped and fell to the ground. Draconian flew through the air using their leathery wings.
A succubus wearing a very scantily clad outfit was brushing up against a human male while holding his chin up with one finger. He saw a couple of Merfolk relaxing in a fountain they passed. A female Kitsune with four tails was admiring a dress through a shop window.
"What do you think?" Sarah asked with amusement as she enjoyed watching John's reaction to each race he saw.
John turned to her in amazement and said, "It's incredible that there are so many green areas in the city, and look at all the different races here. You hardly ever saw another race in Dawnscape.”
Sarah giggled at his reaction before saying, “Most capital cities of each race are the same since they tend to be the gathering places for trade and commerce. Also, the embassies of almost every race can be found in the capital city; in fact, there are only a handful of races you're unlikely to see.”
“Such as the Orks?” John asked.
“Indeed, our relationship with them has always been strained, ever since the Genesis agreement. We simply killed too many of their kind and they ours; a single lifetime is insufficient to wash away all that resentment.” Sarah said with a sigh, which soon turned into a smile as she added. “Besides, compared to Asyath Serin, this is nothing. If you want to see even more races, you should visit there.”
“I hope one day I can,” John replied before turning back to the car's window. “Thank you for bringing me here.”
Sarah laughed before saying, "Thank you for accepting. You will experience it all for yourself in a couple of days when we go shopping."
