Chapter 64 Speech
’Wait what... I’m infusing mana into my eyes right now; that’s why it seems like my vision was spotty earlier, but I didn’t try to control mana; it just happened’
[Probably the effect of already having advanced spells; this body, or rather your body, is used to magic. The amount of mana that flows in your body cannot be compared; learning mana control is going to be a simple process]
"You can sit, next..." Aiden dragged the word as his eyes landed on the next priestess, not that he hadn’t seen her before, but right now as she stood up in front of him, he couldn’t ignore the obvious.
The girl was freaking hot; she had raven-black hair, and among all the priestesses, only her had short hair. Her skin was fair and ridiculously smooth; even though he hadn’t touched her, he could simply tell just by looking at her.
And then the most obvious part of her was her chest. The two priestesses were stood up before her had big breasts, but hers was on a different level, probably borderline Olena’s. But she was slim, so her chest was even more pronounced, with her clothes struggling to hold them together.
She looked nervous and took a deep breath before stretching her hands forward with her eyes closed.
Aiden watched closely as her mana moved through her body; without a chant, she was able to create holy mana and then cast a simple healing spell like the first girl.
Aiden nodded with a smile on his face. "Again, this time a different spell"
Without a word, she prepared herself once more while the other priestesses watched quietly. None of them knew exactly what Aiden was doing, but he wasn’t going to explain himself to them.
Once again, she cast her spell, a magic barrier spell without chants, and then Aiden turned towards the next priestesses, and it continued like that for over an hour, with Olena whispering a few words in his ear.
With all the demonstrations, Aiden had gotten a pretty good idea of how spellcasting works, at least for simple basic spells. None of the girls were able to cast anything other than simple basic spells; the only one who cast a slightly stronger spell was Ella, the oldest of them all.
With this, Aiden also knew how male priests got to be the head; not that he was saying they were bad, but with spells like this, simple healing and assisting was all they could do.
"I’ve seen all I want to, and I must say, I’m not that impressed... Even as priestesses, you should strive for the best; don’t relax and accept the fact that you can only cast simple spells. There’s always room to improve"
Aiden dropped down from the platform and looked over at them. He wasn’t expecting to make a speech, but this seemed like a good time to introduce himself as the Head Priest. Since this was going to be his life, he was going to have to do something like this anyway.
"I don’t expect all of you to suddenly become powerful. That isn’t how magic works. Your potential isn’t limited, but if you stop trying to improve, how would you know how far you can go"
"You over there," Aiden pointed to the first priestess, the youngest among them. "How long have you been in the church?"
"Almost... a year, one year," She answered nervously.
"How many spells can you cast, and can you cast any without chants?" Aiden asked.
Now the pressure was on her. During the entire year, they spent the first month learning in theory without any practice to build a foundation of holy magic; still, she wasn’t the best at anything, and during her entire year, she had three spells down.
"Three..." She replied dryly.
"I want you all to practice spellcasting. The attack on the kingdom has created a huge void. If the kingdom were to be attacked right now, all of you would be sent to help the army. Do you think you’ll be of help?" Aiden asked.
"I don’t mean to demoralize you, but I really think you have the potential to be protectors of the kingdom. I want you all to practice harder, work on your control. No need to focus on making a spell stronger; learn how to use less mana while getting the same result, learn how to cast faster, learn to cast without chants, and learn how to maintain your spells longer"
Aiden stopped letting his words sink in before smiling.
"If the goddess has given you the ability to use holy magic, why not make the most of it..." Aiden stopped to look at their face; he wasn’t sure if this was having a positive or negative effect on them.
"That is all for today; you may leave," Aiden said as he turned around.
"Your Holiness." A voice spoke, and Aiden turned back to see one of the priestesses raising her hand.
"Yes"
"I don’t know if it’s possible, but we’d like you to train with us... Regularly." The girl mouthed the last part in a lower voice.
"While I’d like that, I’m afraid I’m a little busy. First, we have the awakening ceremony coming; then I’m planning a trip outside the capital, and then I still have..."
Before Aiden could finish speaking, Olena walked to his side. "Your Holiness, you can’t share your personal plans and schedule with anyone right now. You should consider your safety, and telling them you’ll be leaving the capital is risky"
Olena backed away from him, and his eyes scanned the girls in front of him.
’She isn’t suggesting someone here is feeding the culprit with information, who is then feeding the Draken Empire...Nah, that’s not possible, is it?’
’What the hell am I saying, that’s total possible... Any of the girls here could be a spy to keep an eye on me, but on the bright side, if one of them is truly a spy, once we get that spy, we’ll be able to track the actual culprit’
