Chapter 65 Urgent
’What the hell am I saying? That’s totally possible... Any of the girls here could be a spy to keep an eye on me, but on the bright side, if one of them is truly a spy, once we get that spy, we’ll be able to track the actual culprit’
’Now the main problem should be: how do we actually verify if there’s a spy here? I guess thinking about it now isn’t going to prove anything; I’ll have to find a way to lay a trap’
"I should be able to train with you next month; for now, focus on your training, but just because I’m not going to be training with you girls doesn’t mean you can slack off. I’ll expect to see improvement," Aiden replied.
"Thank you, Your Holiness," She replied.
"Thank you, Your Holiness"
The rest of them added before standing up; just then, they heard galloping sounds as another carriage stopped in front of the church. The girls all turned their attention to the door.
Olena and Ella were the first to respond as they walked towards the door, but before they arrived at the door, a knight burst into the church. From his clothes, Aiden immediately realized he was a royal knight.
The knight turned his head through the crowd until he saw Aiden at the edge; he bowed his head, acknowledging Aiden before rushing towards him.
"Your Holiness, I bring urgent news," The knight spoke as he closed the distance and eventually began speaking in Aiden’s ear.
"The king is requesting your presence at the royal palace immediately," the knight whispered. "A delegation from the kingdom of Troyra has arrived"
Aiden’s expression changed as he backed away a little; he definitely wasn’t expecting this. Before he saved the prince, the kingdom of Elaris had sent for a priest from Troyra since the two kingdoms were in alliance, but Aiden successfully healed the prince, so the help was called off.
So there was no reason for them to be here in the kingdom, and for the king to be requesting to see him.
"Do you know what this is about?" Aiden asked silently.
"I have no idea, Your Holiness. I wasn’t given the details; I was simply told to fetch you by order of the king," The knight replied.
’Of course, what was I thinking? Like a common knight would know what is going on. I just hope something isn’t wrong. I’ve had a very eventful day, and I was hoping for a rest’
[You’re looking at this the wrong way; delegation from Troyra means elves. Surely there’ll be a female elf among them, a pure elven maiden]
’And why would that require my presence? I’m telling you something is wrong. Why would they travel all the way here? What am I standing around for? It’s not like I have a choice’
"Let’s go," Aiden said, and the knight dashed back towards the carriage to open the door.
"I’m heading to the royal palace; the king requires my presence. Where is Miraleth?" Aiden asked as he turned towards Ella.
"I sent her on an errand; she should be on her way back now," Ella replied.
"Tell her to prepare a meal for me," Aiden said as he walked towards the door.
Aiden stepped outside and realized it was already evening. His stomach grumbled as a sign that he had only eaten a light breakfast and nothing more, but he couldn’t wait around for a meal as he stepped into the carriage.
The knights didn’t ride in, so Aiden was alone inside the carriage.
’Is every day going to be this eventful? I’m trying all I can to not get involved in the politics of the kingdom, and now the king wants to see me?’
[Has anyone ever told you that you overthink? The king might just be inviting you to court, or to show you off that he still has a capable priest, or to discuss the attack on the capital with its allies... There are a lot of explanations for this; try to stay positive]
’That’s true, I mean it could be nothing; I just show up, listen, and maybe talk a little and leave’
[Or it could be something worse, like the elven kingdom needs someone for their orgy party this week]
’Really, so the elves would come all the way for an orgy party? Do they even know what an orgy party is’
[Still, that is a good possibility as any]
Aiden laughed as he relaxed in his seat and took a deep breath. The carriage was going a little fast as the horse galloped through the capital. He didn’t look through the window once and simply waited till the carriage slowed down, and he knew they had reached the entrance of the palace.
The carriage came to a complete stop as the gates were opened, and then it continued forward and stopped right in front of the palace.
Aiden looked at his body, making sure he was presentable. Last time he met the king, he didn’t care about appearance since it was war, but now he had to look good, especially since people from another kingdom were going to be there.
The door to the carriage was pulled open by the knights, and Aiden stepped outside. To his side, he could see a group of carriages on the other side of the palace; unlike the normal ones he was used to this were designed differently.
Unlike the heavy wooden carriage, this one looked like it was built from smooth, pale wood with natural curves that made it look like it had grown from a tree instead of being constructed by hand.
Thin silver patterns covered the sides, creating a beautiful design, and the wheels were smaller; then his eyes landed on the horses.
Aiden couldn’t help but take a moment to stare at the horses; the horses were bigger, with long silver manes and pointed ears just like elves.
Aiden finally turned towards the palace and was led inside by the knights. This was his second time in the royal palace, and it looked so familiar as he walked through the halls, but he wasn’t taken to the throne room; he was taken to a different room this time.
The knights opened the door and stood aside as Aiden stepped into the room. Unlike the throne room, this was much simpler. A long table sat in the middle with several chairs around it, a few shelves stood against the wall, and behind was a large window from which the evening light poured in.
Aiden’s eyes immediately scanned the room; only a few people were inside, and his eyes landed on the king who sat at the far end of the table, with his personal knight standing behind him.
Katarina was sitting on one side, and Aiden noticed she had a serious expression on her face; then his eyes turned to three people he had never seen before.
One was a young female elf who was now looking in his direction; she was nervous and fidgeting, while the other one stood behind, wearing light armor, with a sword at his waist, but his eyes faced forward.
But Aiden’s attention didn’t stay on them for long; his eyes landed on the woman sitting beside them. For a moment, he stopped walking.
The woman was clearly an elf, but she looked completely different. She had long silver hair that fell smoothly down her back, pointed ears, and a calm expression. Her skin was flawless, and there was something about her Aiden couldn’t quite put his hand around.
She was dressed perfectly normal, her clothes simple but elegant, and most of all, she was absolutely stunning.
Aiden had seen his share of beautiful women, both on earth and in this new world, but this elf was in the realm of the goddess.
The warrior noticed Aiden staring and frowned slightly, but Aiden didn’t glance in his direction and simply walked towards the king.
"Your Majesty," Aiden bowed his head.
"Your Holiness, I’m sorry for disturbing you after the events of today"
"Nonsense, Your Majesty. I live to serve the kingdom; I’m available any time of the day," Aiden replied, bowing his head again, and the king nodded with a smile as he gestured towards one of the chairs.
Aiden sat down beside Katarina, both of them bowing their heads to greet without saying a word, and now directly in front of him was the most beautiful creature he had seen aside from the goddess, no matter how lewd she was.
And now that he was this close to her, he didn’t need to look or try to sense anything; the mana coming from her body was so dense it made him question if this elf had more man than him, and he didn’t sense it until he was this close to her, but something was wrong; he could tell.
The king turned towards the young elf, and immediately she stood up on her feet.
"Your... Holiness... This is Queen Elyndra"
