Chapter 43: Pillar Awakening and System Upgrade
On a large bed with a sleek, dark frame, the room stretched wide around him. The walls were smooth, painted in deep charcoal grey, adorned with mounted blades of every shape and size; swords, sabers, daggers, all displayed like art in a gallery. Track lighting ran along the ceiling, casting soft, angled beams that made the steel gleam.
Heavy blackout curtains framed the floor-to-ceiling windows, blocking out the world outside. A glass desk sat against one wall, its surface clean except for a sleek laptop and a single, worn leather journal. Weapon racks stood in the corners, minimalist and functional, holding gleaming steel that caught the dim glow of an electric fireplace.
The room was clean, sharp, and deliberate.
A young man who was sleeping on the bed snapped his eyes open. Lucien looked at his familiar room, he remembered the last scene before he lost consciousness.
He never expected the awakening would lead to such changes. And also did he hear Awakening of Pillar of Obsession.
He immediately summoned the system, wanting to check the changes that had happened but what he first greeted him was a series of notifications.
Ding!
[Pillar of Obsession Awakening Successful.]
Ding!
[Pillar of Voracity has fully awakened through Seraphina Drax.]
[The first of the seven Pillars of Obsession is now seated. Voracity represents the hunger that exists at the core of all desire — the craving for more, the refusal to be satisfied, the endless yearning that drives obsession to its peak.]
[The first of the seven Pillars of Obsession is now seated.]
[Current Status: Pillar Seated — 1/7.]
[Passive – Endless Hunger: The host and all linked wives gain a passive 30% increase to HP and MP regeneration. The host’s draconic and fire-based skills deal 30% bonus damage.]
[Passive – Consuming Aura: Enemies within 10 meters of the host feel a subtle draining effect — their Originat and stamina slowly siphoned over time (5% per minute). Does not work on beings above concealed rank.]
[Passive – Insatiable Bond: Obsession Links connected to Voracity grow 50% faster. Resonance increases more quickly through affection, shared danger, and intimate moments.]
[Active – Devour: Once per day, the host can activate Voracity’s hunger to absorb a single enemy attack and convert it into HP and MP regeneration for 10 seconds.]
[Active – Feast of Obsession: Once per week, the host can release a wave of voracious energy, draining 20% of all enemies’ HP and MP within a 30-meter radius, restoring the host and linked wives by the same amount.]
[Warning: Voracity’s hunger is insatiable. If left unchecked, it may begin to influence the host’s desires, amplifying cravings for power, love, and possession. Balance is essential.]
---
Ding!
[Obsession Link – Absolute Devotion detected. Wife: Seraphina Drax.]
[New ability unlocked: Talent Transference. ]
[Through the depth of her devotion, the Host may now share fragments of his wife’s talents without taking her bloodline or innate racial powers.]
Ding!
[Due to Talent Transference, you have acquired a Phoenix Flame (SSS-Rank).]
[Effect: Permanently awakens the host’s connection to the eternal phoenix fire. All fire-based skills deal 50% bonus damage. Fire skill MP cost reduced by 30%. Passive – Phoenix Rebirth: Once per month, upon taking fatal damage, the host is reborn in a burst of golden flames, restoring 100% HP and MP. Passive – Ember of Life: HP regeneration increased by 25%. Active – Phoenix Wings: Manifest wings of living flame for 60 seconds, granting flight and 50% increased attack speed. Requires a full day of rest before it can be used again.]
[You have absorbed a portion of Seraphina Drax’s spearmanship experience. You have gained the passive skill: Spear Intent – your attacks with spears are more precise and deadly; your instincts with the weapon sharpen significantly.]
[You have learned the active skill: Flame Spear Thrust – a single, piercing thrust wreathed in your SSS-Rank flame. Cooldown: none, but consumes Originat. Can be used with any bladed spear.]
[You have gained the passive buff: Draconic Courage – fear effects are reduced by 80% when fighting alongside or in defense of your linked wife.]
[Note: Talent Transference does not grant bloodlines or racial abilities. It enhances the Host’s existing talents and provides combat experience and elemental affinities.]
Ding!
[Supreme Law: The Principle of Infinite Consumption – desire is a fundamental force. All things move toward what they lack.]
[You have gained a new active skill: Hunger of the Void. ]
[Effect: Once per day, release a wave of voracious hunger from the Covenanted Throne. All enemies within a 20-meter radius have their Originat and vitality drained, converting 30% of the absorbed energy into HP and MP for the Host and all linked wives. Lasts 15 seconds.]
[Note: The Pillar of Voracity is now fully awakened through Seraphina Drax. Further devotion will unlock greater power.]
Ding!
[Detecting a Pillar of Obsession. Conditions met for system upgrade.]
[System upgrade beginning in 3... 2... 1...]
...
Ding!
[System upgrade completed.]
[System function unlocked: Gacha Fusion. ]
[Effect: The Host can now fuse multiple Gacha Cards of the same category to create a higher-ranked card. Fusion requires 3 cards of the same rank and category. Success rate: 100%. The resulting card rank will be one tier higher than the fused cards.]
[Fusion Cost: Varies by Gacha Card rank. Higher ranks demand more Eternal Devotion Tokens or Tickets.]
[Obsession Influence: Higher Obsession Levels from linked wives increase the chance of the fused card gaining bonus effects or evolving beyond the expected rank. At Obsession Level 200% or above, the Host gains a 30% chance to receive a card one rank higher than the fusion result.]
[Note: Fused cards are consumed in the process. Cannot fuse cards of different categories. Cannot fuse cards above Mythic (M) rank.]

The multiple system notifications gave Lucien a headache. He had to read them from the beginning to the end.
And what he read left him speechless. He never expected that even after his bloodline awakening, he would still receive more rewards.
From the Pillar of Voracity, to Talent Transference, and even the system going through an upgrade, gaining the Gacha Fusion function.
This made him lick his lips in excitement. He could already imagine his future. All the grievances he had because of his experience in the Land of Death had disappeared. He didn’t even remember it anymore.
But going through these notifications, he noticed that there was a time gap. There was no way the system upgrade would have gone through in just minutes.
"System, how many hours have I been sleeping for?"
Ding!
[Host has been unconscious for 64 hours.]
Lucien heard this and shook. He had been asleep for more than two days.
How worried would his parents be?
It seemed all the emotional experiences and the lack of sleep had caught up to him at once. No wonder he felt his body was free and more energized than before.
He glanced at his door, but after a while, he focused on the system interface.
He was anticipating how powerful his stats will be now.
A/N: Let’s not forget the below mission!
Before the end of the week:
If a Dragon is gifted, it will be 2 bonus Chapters instead of one.
If a Magic Castle is gifted, it will be 5 bonus Chapters instead of three.
If a Spacecraft is gifted, it will be 7 bonus Chapters instead of five.
If a Golden Gachapon is gifted, it will be 10 bonus Chapters instead of seven.
