My Yandere Wives Keep Making Me Stronger

Chapter 42: Voracity: A Love That Consumes

ROAR!

A draconic roar escaped from Seraphina’s mouth, shaking the very surroundings. The ground trembled beneath her feet, and the air itself seemed to recoil from the sound.

Golden flames blazed across her body, spreading outward in a searing wave. Everywhere within one meter around her was caught in fire, the grass withered, the stone cracked, the very air shimmered with heat.

But suddenly, the golden flames began to change, as if darkness was usurping them.

From brilliant gold, the flames shifted to pitch black, deep, abyssal, and hungry. They did not burn with heat alone; they burned with desire. An intense hunger radiated outward, pressing against everything in its path.

The Originat within the surrounding area was forcefully deprived, drawn into the black flames like water into a void. The air grew thin. The ground grew cold. Even the light seemed to dim, as if the world itself was holding its breath.

Hunger for all things.

It covered both Seraphina and Lucien. David and Valyra were worried, wanting to pull them from the flames because they could feel the threat emanating from the black fire.

But as they stretched their hands, they watched their life force and Originat being siphoned. Even though it wasn’t much, it shook them as an intense hunger beguiled their minds.

They quickly withdrew, looking at their son and Seraphina. When they saw that the black flames didn’t seem to affect them, they felt relieved.

For a moment, the hunger pulsed, not just a feeling, but a presence. It was ancient, patient, and utterly insatiable. It did not seek to destroy. It sought to consume.

Then, as quickly as it had come, the hunger receded. The black flames flickered, slowly returning to their golden hue. The oppressive weight lifted from the air.

But Seraphina and Lucien had both fallen unconscious.

---

Meanwhile, after the system prompt resounded in Lucien’s mind, one of the seven cracks of the Covenanted Throne began to shine with black light.

An immense force immediately dragged Lucien toward the throne. He tried to fight against it, but he was helpless. His body strained, his muscles tensed, but the pull was absolute, an inevitability he could not resist.

He gave up as he felt the throne wouldn’t harm him. It was not a cage. It was a calling.

He was dragged to the throne and sat upon it, as if he was its master. The seat was cold yet somehow familiar, as if it had been waiting for him all along.

Then suddenly, the crack with black light shone with intense black light that overshadowed his figure.

Everything turned blank.

---

"Darling."

A familiar voice shook him. He found himself in an enclosed room, a large living room, grand yet suffocating, with walls lined with dark wood and heavy curtains that swallowed the light.

His body shivered as he turned to where the voice came from.

He saw Seraphina. Unlike the one he knew now, she had black hair and dark eyes, her cheeks burning with intense obsessiveness. Her gaze was fixed on him like a predator watching prey.

This was the Seraphina he truly knew. The Seraphina of his past life.

And this scene was familiar.

In the center of the living room, a young man sat on a cushion chair, focused on a book, not even caring about his surroundings. He had features similar to Lucien, this was Lucien in his past life. He looked paler, more fragile, as if the slightest wind would break him.

"Darling." Seraphina called out again, her voice sweet but laced with something darker.

Lucien didn’t even look at her. His eyes were cold, filled with killing intent. "I told you not to call me darling. There’s no way I will ever be one, or ever fall in love with you guys."

His words showed how much disgust he held for them.

His words made Seraphina freeze for a while. Her smile faltered, her eyes dimmed, but only for a moment.

Then she walked toward him, her footsteps slow and deliberate, each step echoing in the heavy silence.

She drew closer, and Lucien felt her presence, the weight of her gaze, the warmth of her body, but he still ignored her. Seraphina seemed used to these scenes. His coldness was a wall she had climbed many times before.

She simply reached out and hijacked the book he was reading, snatching it from his hands with practiced ease.

This made Lucien snap out of his trance. His head shot up, his eyes finally meeting hers, and for the first time, she saw the fire beneath the ice.

Seraphina smiled, a slow, satisfied curve of her lips. "Now that’s the expression I was looking for."

She leaned in close to his ear, her breath warm against his skin. "Look me in the eye, Lucien. Let me tell you one fact: there’s no way you are ever going to escape my palm, or should I say, our palms."

Her gaze was dark, beyond ordinary. She held her red cheeks as her eyes gave off an unknown light, possessive, hungry, and utterly unyielding.

This sent chills down Lucien’s spine.

"You guys should know that this is kidnapping. Your actions, forcefully bringing me into this mansion, or should I say this cage, without my consent." Lucien said coldly, his words sharp as blades, wanting them to pierce her heart.

But Seraphina just burst into laughter, a sound that was beautiful yet hollow, echoing through the heavy silence. Lucien’s expression turned ugly.

"Are you saying this to me or to yourself, Darling? You’re funny." She tilted her head, her smile never faltering. "How many months have you been here? Is there anyone coming to your rescue?"

Her words hung in the air like a verdict.

"You should know there’s no way you’re escaping here if you aren’t ours." The more Seraphina spoke, the more she released a dark, obsessive gaze, a hunger that seemed to grow with every word.

Lucien seemed to lose all strength as he said this. His shoulders slumped, his voice barely above a whisper. "You guys should give up. There’s no way it’s possible between us. You know I love Leah."

The name hung in the air like a fragile shield.

Seraphina’s expression shifted, not to anger, but to something colder, more absolute. She stepped closer, her voice dropping to a low, intimate whisper.

"Lucien, it’s either you are ours, or no one can own you. You belong to us, and there’s nothing you can change about it."

Her words were final. Absolute. A truth she had carved into stone.

"Then we can see how this is going to end. You guys wouldn’t have me, and there’s no way my parents would take this choice. They will support me."

"Well, that’s not a problem. All we have to do is clear all obstacles." Seraphina chuckled in a dark tone, her eyes gleaming with something unspoken.

"Clear all obstacles? As how? What do you mean?" Lucien’s expression turned cold as he looked at Seraphina with a chilly gaze, his voice edged with suspicion.

"You should know what I mean. The decision is up to you."

Lucien looked at her and saw that obsessive gaze, one that seemed to have no end, no limit, no bottom. He slumped back on the cushion, his body heavy with defeat.

"You guys are crazy." Lucien muttered with a weak voice, his words barely escaping his lips.

But the silence and lack of response shook him. He glanced at Seraphina, and his body froze.

He saw her holding the helms of her clothes, tugging her black hair like a shy girl. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes cast downward.

Lucien paused. What was happening?

He wasn’t complimenting her, for heaven’s sake.

"You are right. We are crazy." She raised her hand as she spoke, her voice soft yet trembling with barely contained emotion. "We are crazy about you."

When Lucien saw the expression on her face, he almost took a step back due to fear.

She had the face of a woman consumed — by love, by obsession, by something that had long since crossed the line into madness. Her eyes burned with a devotion that was beautiful and terrifying in equal measure.

And Lucien knew, with a sinking certainty, that there was no reasoning with her.

There never had been.

When had things turned like this?

They were cute before. Sunny smiles, gentle laughter, eyes that sparkled like morning dew. She had been like an angel, soft, warm, and innocent. He remembered the way she used to blush when he looked at her, the way her voice would soften when she spoke his name.

But now...

Now her smile was sharper. Her laughter held an edge. Her eyes no longer sparkled, they burned. They devoured.

The angel had fallen. Or perhaps she had been something else all along, waiting for the right moment to reveal herself.

Lucien stared at her, his heart heavy, his mind racing. He had seen the signs. He had ignored them. He had told himself it was just affection, just love that could fade away with passing time.

But love was not supposed to feel like a cage.

And yet, here he was, trapped, cornered, surrounded by a love that refused to let go.
