Chapter 53 - 52: [Casually Last-Hitting a Cannon Minion (Part 2)]
"Darling, when are we leaving?" the woman clung to the man’s arm, cooing with a look of longing.
"Soon, once the storm passes. I’ll start moving Zheng Qi’s assets, and then we’ll immigrate and settle down abroad," Ah Zhe said with a chuckle, patting her head with his right hand.
However, that wasn’t what he was actually thinking.
He was only laying on the charm because the woman knew too much.
If he dared to upset her in the slightest, he was afraid she’d expose him for murdering Zheng Qi.
After all, she was merely an accomplice. He was the real murderer.
The pair chatted on, completely oblivious to the uninvited guest who had just appeared inside their car.
And trailing behind them was a Bentley radiating a sinister, ghostly aura.
"Sir, are we really getting involved in this?" The Old Driver’s face grew even paler. A minor character like him was at the very bottom of the food chain. He was terrified to his core of these vicious ghosts who killed at a moment’s notice.
If He Xiaotian weren’t even more savage, he would’ve long since retreated to his urn to shiver in fear.
"Honey, did you turn on the AC?" the woman asked without looking up from her phone.
"No. Your hand is a little cold, though, isn’t it?" Ah Zhe, focused on driving, failed to notice that she hadn’t actually touched him.
"Hand? What hand?"
The woman gave Ah Zhe a strange look, then she saw it: a pale arm, resting on her partner’s shoulder.
She stiffly turned her head toward the back seat. A face filled her vision.
GULP!
When people experience true terror, they don’t always scream. More often, they’re too frightened to make a sound.
It’s as if they’ve forgotten how to speak, completely losing their voice.
"I told you, your hand is cold. Take it off, will you?"
Ah Zhe sounded impatient. Even though it was the middle of a hot summer, the temperature still dropped after midnight.
Feeling the hand still resting on his shoulder, he turned his head to say something.
And saw the woman cowering in the passenger seat, hands clamped over her mouth, her eyes filled with boundless terror.
’Hand?!’
’If the arm on my shoulder isn’t hers, then whose is it?’
SCREEECH!
The car screeched to a halt, leaving two black skid marks on the road.
GULP!
He swallowed hard but didn’t dare look back.
Because curious people always end up dead.
He still wanted to live. He forced himself to calm down, to get a grip.
As expected of a man who would murder and dismember someone, he remained remarkably composed even at a heart-stopping moment like this.
He slowly unbuckled his seatbelt, then rested his left hand on the door handle, ready to fling it open and bolt at a moment’s notice.
CLICK!
That sharp click was like a drop of water hitting a pan of boiling oil.
AHHHH—
SPLAT!
Blood splattered across the car window.
He Xiaotian blinked and sighed. "I just can’t stand bloody scenes like this."
’The Old Driver grimaced. ’Did you consider the feelings of the Big Hammer in the back seat when you said that?’’
"Get closer. Today, I’ll deliver justice and rid Shanghai of this fiend for the sake of its women. And while I’m at it, I’ll avenge that scumbag couple in the car."
As soon as he finished speaking, he deftly scrambled into the back seat, threw open a wooden crate, and pulled out his iron hammer.
The cars weren’t far apart. A tap on the accelerator and they were right in front of the BMW.
He Xiaotian stepped out of the car, iron hammer in hand. He stood before the window, feeling the chilling aura emanating from within.
’Is there any difference between this and a walk-in freezer?’
THUD!
A withered hand suddenly slapped against the inside of the window.
A normal person would’ve pissed their pants in fright!
It slid down, and then a single, malevolent eye appeared, glaring at He Xiaotian with venomous hatred.
The Old Driver slowly backed his car away.
He was afraid of getting caught in the crossfire between the man and the ghost. The last thing he needed was to become collateral damage.
’It had been a while since I last absorbed any yang energy.’
’Not to mention, my first encounter with He Xiaotian was an ordeal that nearly cost me my life.’
"Well now, what an intense glare."
Having just bludgeoned an adept to death, he wasn’t the least bit afraid of this evil spirit.
’What’s there to be afraid of?’
’One swing of the hammer, and who cares if you’re human or ghost?’
’Either way, they’d be forced to their knees.’
WHOOSH!
Azure flames erupted, engulfing He Xiaotian’s entire body in the blink of an eye.
"Come on, come on. Let Papa show you some love."
With that, he hefted the three-hundred-plus-pound iron hammer and brought it crashing down on the eye in the window.
KABOOM!!
With over ten thousand pounds of force behind it, the blow was no less powerful than a rocket launcher.
Especially with the azure flames blazing on the hammer.
The entire BMW folded in on itself in a grotesque shape.
WHOOSH!
A bloody shadow shot out from the wreckage, streaking straight for He Xiaotian’s face.
At the same time, the blood in his own body began to boil uncontrollably.
It felt as if it were being drawn out by a magnet, threatening to burst from his very veins.
BOOM!!
He Xiaotian raised his hammer again, mustering all his strength and slamming it down on the bloody shadow.
The asphalt instantly shattered, and the ground in a radius of over ten meters caved inward.
The searing azure flames bloomed like a firework.
HSSSSSS!!
AHHHH—
A blood-curdling shriek once again tore through the night sky.
A notification popped up in the upper-left corner of his vision.
[Ding! You have slain a fifty-year-old White Specter. 2000 Experience Points gained.]

"Seven thousand one hundred Experience Points? Not bad. I can upgrade my Fire-refined Golden Body again when I get back." With that, He Xiaotian turned and walked away.
He looked as casual as a gamer last-hitting a cannon minion.
The Old Driver kept wiping away the cold sweat that wasn’t there.
’Holy shit!!’
’Is he even human?’
’So savage, so ferocious.’
’In two hits, he’d finished off the very same malevolent spirit that had all the women in Shanghai too scared to go out at night.’
’Can someone please tell me how a person is supposed to total a car with a single swing of a hammer?’
’And what the hell are those flames all over your body?’
’Thinking about how his only skill was driving, the Old Driver felt like a useless ghost.’
After getting back in the car, He Xiaotian said nonchalantly, "Let’s get going. We’ve been delayed long enough."
"???"
’If he weren’t so terrified of the man’s savage power, the Old Driver would have spat right in his face.’
’"Delayed long enough," my ass!’
’From getting out of the car to smashing the ghost, did you even take a full minute?’
’Sigh!’
’What rotten luck. I became a ghost, and I still run into someone with such a violent temper.’
"Sir, anytime but the daytime. You can call me whenever you need. The Old Driver is at your service twelve hours a day."
’He Xiaotian looked at the ghost’s sycophantic face and felt a strong urge to smash it with his hammer.’
’You’re a ghost, not a husky or a golden retriever. Can’t you have a little spine?’
