Naruto: A Lazy Life

New Team.

Pov: Takumi Uchiha.

"Saburo" I call out as I interrupt his training.

"-Takumi- Ow!" He swivels around and takes off hid blind fold, only to be struck by one of the swinging rocks that he hung up.

"I heard you have been causing me trouble" I ask as I close in.

"I was merely following your order Master Takumi" Saburo Bows.

"What is that- what trivial nonsense are you doing?" I frown.

...

"My training?" Saburo gets up and catches the rock that swings back to hit him.

"No- calling me Master and Bowing" I raise an eyebrow at him.

"I thought I became your disciple-" He begins to explain.

"My disciple- not a disciple of Konoha. Rankings overrule relationship in my Empire. So you either call me Emperor which I highly doubt you will do- or refer to me as Captain Takumi considering the nonsense you seem to have dragged me into" I explain further.

It didn't matter who taught you on the battlefield, if your master ranked as a soldier and you a general than you command them.

Fortunately for Saburo he seems to have been made my subordinate while I was away. This helps me keep the Master and Disciple relationship hidden for a while, I do not need that kind of curiosity coming from others.

...

"Do I bow?" He asks after a moment of acknowledgement.

"You may nod your head at me when I enter the room, I lack the care for such things" I sigh.

I truly do- so many important people in my Empire stop what they are doing and pointlessly bow whenever I arrive or step by them. It is annoying.

"So- Captain Takumi, you have heard of the new team arrangement?" Saburo scratches his cheek.

"Yes. I am glad you did such a thing but warning would have done wonders" I state.

Taking a small hike when this happened did not improve relations with the Konoha higher ups.

"You are... happy?" Saburo's eyes go wide.

"Yes. It allows me to push work onto others while maintaining my current lifestyle" I smirk.

"Of course..." Saburo sighs.

"Have you scouted potential members for this team- or did you wait for me?" I ask.

"I- well- The Hokage told me he could only spare one Ninja..." Saburo struggles to find the right words.

So the Hokage found a Ninja he had no need for and dumped them on me to handle.

"Where are they?" I ask.

"Well- there is a situation that has occurred from them joining, before you meet them-" Saburo is cut off.

"You. Finally back?" A somewhat familiar voice strikes the back of my head.

I turn around and see Yū Hyuga.

"Oh. You are the new soldier under my command? Didn't you make Chunin?" I sigh.

"Of course not, I was far too 'angry' to be on a 'Chunin' team" He grits his teeth.

"So you are working on your anger?" I question.

"Working is the correct choice of word" Yū takes a deep breath.

Does seeing me make him angry? That is all? I wonder how deeply our last talk impacted him.

...

This is also probably the reason why he was assigned to me- angry and uncooperative, my mess to fix.

"- Captain, if he quits the team I lose this job..." Saburo whispers in my ear.

Ah. I thought that if something were to happen, the punishment would at least fall on me.

A tricky situation.

"Yū... I will handle your training another day- I have another job to handle for now" I shake my head and begin to walk away.

"Walking away first day your back? Typical..." Yū mutters under his breath.

---

Pov: Yū Hyuga.

I watch Takumi walk away- before scanning Saburo over.

"Why do you let that man hold any title? What worth does he have?" I take another deep breath.

"He is worthy- I believe it truly, you can see that soon, if you compromise and deal with Captain just long enough to see the talented kid underneath" Saburo tells me sincerely.

What worth could that thing ever bring.

"I am only here because the Hokage assigned me here" I scowl.

Apparently my anger is Takumi's issue to 'fix'.

"You are here because you have no where else to go" Saburo chuckles.

...

"Why did you lie about losing your job if I quit?" I question, visibly calmer now that Takumi has left.

"Captain is too lazy to confirm that statement with the Hokage" Saburo informs me.

"And? What benefit will that bring?" I huff.

"Without telling him 'that' I can see him walking away the moment you guys get difficult to train, he does not train people who are unable to handle his training. But if my dream was on the line... then he will train you two no matter what" Saburo smiles warmly.

"I only stuck around because you convinced me Saburo- if that Lazy bastard is incapable of helping me then I will quit" I frown.

"Are you sure it's not the Hyuga Clan that is making you stick around?" Saburo asks.

...

Tsk. This dreaded curse would have me become a servant if I am incapable of becoming a Shinobi- If I quit now... I will be a nameless slave until I die.

"I can have many reasons" I huff out again.

"Just trust me on this, you saw first hand how he reconstructed the Hyuga move set into a counter- I am sure he can help you with growing stronger, better-" Saburo speaks.

"- Getting revenge against the stone ninja who ruined my life?" I cut Saburo off.

...

"I mean- yeah, that too" Saburo nods slowly.

I'll find them- kill them all, and if I have to deal with that Lazy bastard than so be it- I will do what I must to accomplish my goals and avoid slavery.

Even if that yawning brat is insufferable.

I turn around and take heavy breaths, clenching my knuckles.

Pov: Takumi Uchiha.

*Swish*

"Pretty good" I compliment and look over the axe.

"Pretty good? That's all?" Ritsu scoffs.

"Yes. The Dagger and Spear are nice too- can I purchase another weapon?" I ask and stash the axe within it's scroll.

"Depends. I have a few orders to get through, perhaps faster with your help" He responds with annoyance.

"Good. I will be available to help you, I will draw up what I wish and get it to you when you can start on it" I smirk and walk behind him, around the counter to place my apron on.

...

"Just don't go walkin' off and not tellin' anyone again- I don't need your help here, but it is much appreciated" Ritsu sighs before entering the workshop.

I follow him inside and look around.

"Over there- I need you to do some repairs and upkeep, get it done by tomorrow afternoon when the Shinobi returns" Ritsu tells me before walking to one of his stations, reading over some orders.

I obediently walk to a bundle of weapons and tools, opening it up and examining each item thoroughly.

A few grappling hooks- need new rope, one with a chain? I wonder if he uses these for fighting or perhaps ordered repairs for his entire team.

A Tanto with a burnt handle- a fire ninjutsu no doubt.

A few senbon with blunted ends- must have hit stone or another similar material.

I can sharpen them again but these two need replacing- easier for me, I will place them in scrap for now.

I chuck the two broken senbon into the scrap pile in the corner before starting simple dismantlement of the Tanto.

...

Hn- A rapier would be good for Yū.

If they are to do there own missions Saburo would need a duellist to fight the tougher enemies head on.

Although I trust Saburo to be capable of fighting the big threats too- he would usually be occupied with distraction and picking off the weaker members of an enemy team.

He would also need someone to create an opening for his fastest jabs.

So Yū can take over my position in battle- the duellist.

Precision attacks and quite a selection of counters, blocks and parries- something that would allow Yū to use his Hyuga techniques in tandem with the Rapier.

A good fit- he will not need to adapt too much.

-Later in the year-

Pov: Saburo Mori.

*Clang!* *Stab!*

Yū aggressively stabs at the tree with his wooden sword- getting angrier all of a sudden.

Oh? Takumi must be here.

And soon enough- just as Yū's rise in anger predicted. Takumi shows up, covered in sweat from working at the forge.

"I told you to train without using those eyes of yours Yū" Takumi states as he walks behind him and over to me.

Yū refuses to reply and keeps training by himself- something he often does in these training sessions... and even more aggressively considering our last mission.

He seems very frustrated that Takumi is still stronger than him- and since Takumi attended our latest mission and handled it easily... Yū has been silent.

"Saburo. How is your training going?" Takumi asks.

"Good- though I feel like I hit a wall" I reply.

"How so?" Takumi asks.

"I am still trying to get some of the forms down right... I can do them- just not as perfectly as I want" I sigh and sit down, deciding to rest now that he has arrived.

Takumi still stands and looks into the distance before glancing back at me.

"Perfection is a dream you never want to obtain, always maintain a constant pace of growth" Takumi warns.

"Is that something you experienced? Perfection?" I ask sincerely.

"Yes. It is troubling waters to swim within, considering the fact that perfection does not exist" He sits down with me.

..???

"What does that mean?" I ask very confused.

"When you have obtained 'Perfection' you see no flaw- I saw no flaws within my greatest Arts and creations. But that is not necessarily true..." Takumi begins to explain.

...

"My greatest Art- perfect, no flaws at all. No weaknesses to exploit and not lacking in skill, variety nor power. The problem with that is while the Art is perfect on it's own- the human who wields it is not. They may seem unstoppable while wielding the Art but they are it's weakness. And an Art that goes unused is not really an Art is it? So Perfection is not real" Takumi answers.

oh...

"It also makes you arrogant and unable to train properly" Takumi continues.

oh.

"Why don't you use that Art now? Make everything real easy, considering it had no weaknesses" I wonder.

"It would be like an insect attempting to lift a mountain- but I am using aspects of it, taking one pebble off that mountain at a time" Takumi tells me.

Oh- so Captain is dripping what he can use into all our forms and styles, trying his best to use what he can.

"I would need my perfect memory as well- so many sets and forms to remember within that art- you need more than just human instinct to fight with it, it needs cold calculation and the ability to know every aspect of yourself and the Art" Takumi tells me more.

"What was it called?" I ask.

Something cool?

"The Art of Blades" He states.

Never mind.

"It was the record of everything that related to Blades- every hint of knowledge gathered into one single Art. Even if you mastered all that knowledge... to use it all seamlessly is harrowing" Takumi chuckles to himself.

"... So I should stop worrying?" I nod my head.

"No. Keep worrying, apparently it's driving you to train harder- like his anger is" Takumi gestures to Yū.

...

"You going to stick around for training captain?" I scratch my neck and look away from the angry Hyuga.

"Nope. Apparently Obito got promoted- and Hatake was made a Jonin, so I will be joining Rin, Obito and their friends in finding a gift for Hatake" Takumi yawns and stretches as he gets up.

"Got anything for Obito?"

"Yeah- a custom made dagger made by me, I was thinking of naming it... Obito's Dagger" Takumi nods to himself.

"Hey- wait, you didn't carve that on already did you? You can still change the name? Captain?" I ask worriedly.

Takumi looks to the distance again.

"Hey... Captain- please don't tell me you made him a unique and cool dagger and named it such a..." I fumble my words from sheer shock.

"Amazing name?" Takumi smirks.

"No.." I pull back.

Does he think he has a good naming sense? Please don't tell me he actually thinks that-

"I am messing with you. I was thinking of calling it 'Dream Carver'- to shape his future and carve out his dream to lead this Village one day" Takumi looks down at me with humour in his eyes.

"Oh haha- very funny" I lay down on the grass and sigh.

...

"Still could think of a better name- Ow" Takumi kicks me as I speak.
