Naruto: A Lazy Life

Pov: Takumi Uchiha.

So this is the extended group of friends that Obito and Rin spend all their time with... I already knew about Maito and I have seen a few others around- most primarily at the chunin exam I attended.

Hn.

"Takumi Uchiha right- I am Kurenai Yuhi" A Kunoichi approaches me and offers a smile.

"Takumi is correct. It is nice to meet you Yuhi- Are you acquainted with Hatake or a closer friend?" I ask.

"Oh- A friend I hope, this is Asuma- we are all friends here, we havent seen you around much but I have heard quite a bit about you, Obito and Rin say a lot of good things" Yuhi smiles.

"Is that so?" I raise an eyebrow and yawn.

"Are you really as lazy as the rumours say?" Asuma questions me as I finish my yawn.

...

"I suppose I am doing my best to live up to expectations. I would personally claim to be the laziest within the village- however I am aware that my strongest competition have long since out bested me in laziness, since I am unable to compete since graduating the academy" I nod my head in thought.

"Oh- well do you have any ideas on what to give Kakashi? We were thinking something practical but Genma seems to have beaten us to the punch by acquiring a full set of new kunai" Yuhi thinks aloud, holding her chin in thought.

I already got Obito a Dagger, it would be disingenuous to offer another up. Jonin is a great title within this world, and Hatake is someone to be admired for gaining such a title at his age- and if he likes practical rewards for overcoming his obstacles than I have a few ideas.

"We could get him... a few books maybe?" Asuma thinks to offer.

"I could offer him training- or perhaps I will offer my insight? Hn. It would be best to give him a reward that consumes little of his time" I think aloud.

...

"Why would he choose to take on your training..?" Asuma squints at me with confusion.

"You saw him at the Chunin exams right- he could help him" Yuhi nudges Asuma.

I have the perfect reward.

"I will grant him a favour to expend at the time of his choosing" I nod with a smirk.

...

...

"Like a piece of paper saying 'I owe you one'?" Asuma hesitates before asking.

Hn- writing it down will ensure I keep my word, if I grant him the paper he may pull it out to use at any time of his choosing- this lets him know I am serious about fulfilling my promise and granting him my oath. This Asuma is indeed smart, he has improved upon my original idea with great impact.

"Yes, very well. That settles my gift" I nod.

"Seriously???" Asuma asks.

Hn? does he have more to add?

"Oh it's fine Asuma! That is Takumi for you, he will keep his word and Kakashi- even if he is an idiot- will understand that" Obito jumps in and waves off Asuma.

"I think a book or so is a great idea" Yuhi tells Asuma.

*Cough* Asuma coughs to himself before speaking.

"Do you... want to go find some books together then?" Asuma asks.

"Sure!" Yuhi nods.

Yuhi and Asuma nod to us before walking away.

"Don't forget to be at Yakiniku Q later- I will do my best to drag Kakashi there!" Obito yells as they leave.

...

After a moment of silence I clear my throat.

"Obito- I am not the most adept at socializing but I did however notice the flowers you brought to this meeting-" I glance at him.

"-Please stop" Obito cuts me off and blushes in embarrassment.

"Understood" I chuckle to myself.

Hn.

I grab the dagger I made and hand it over to Obito.

"What is this?" he asks and grabs it.

"A custom Dagger- it is called Dream carver, bigger than a kunai and with dual edges, a sleek design that has some form of guard to block attacks... I made it myself" I explain.

"For me?" Obito asks with wider eyes.

"Yes- for you, congratulations on becoming Chunin I am looking forward to where you will end up next" I nod my head down.

...

"If you become Hokage I refuse to do my work- it is simply my lifestyle and I know how lenient you can be with me" I smile as he takes in the dagger and unsheathes it.

"Oi! I could totally make you work- just have to beat some sense into you" Obito retorts with a big smile on his face.

"Hn? Is that so..?" I ask.

"Yeah- you will see, I will be the Hokage and be strong enough to throw you around easily!" He chants.

"I truly hope so" I smile warmly.

"-Thank you though- I reeeaaally appreciate this!" Obito sheathes it again and immediately ties it onto his belt.

"I would draw it from your back and not your sides- you move a lot and it is long enough to get caught in the middle of combat" I adjust.

He moves the sheathe around and proudly displays it, before giving me a good thumbs up.

"Ohhh- you got him a dagger, where is mine?" Rin walks up.

"You want one?" I ask as Obito is flustered by her sudden entrance.

"Haha~no, just messing with you- congratulations again Obito" Rin gives a thumbs up.

Obito gulps and gives a shaky thumbs up back before straightening his back and smiling wide.

"Should we go get Kakashi now?" Rin asks.

"S-Sure, though we should probably wait a bit until Kurenai and Asuma get back" Obito nods.

"Oh- lets give them an hour then, lets all do something while we wait!" Rin clasps her hands together and looks at everyone else.

"Sure I can wait-" The one known as Genma replies.

"Are we going to do something fun- I do not want this turning into another kids game... Gai gets too competitive" The one known as Raido speaks up.

"I put all my effort in! If you cannot handle the power of my youth then I will do one hundred push ups!" Maito yells out in response.

Hn- his hard work and enthusiasm will bring him to great heights, I just wish he would stop bringing me to the limit of my own patience every other month. I am getting far ahead of myself when it comes to my training schedule.

"I will refrain from children's games" I state before I am dragged into nonsense.

I watch the group continue to converse as we all wait...

-In the land of Water-

Pov: 3rd Person.

"-Latest Report, from Konoha! Spies have gotten new reports on individuals of interest!!" A shinobi's voice cries out within a busy room full of ninja and paperwork.

"I swear if I have to read more bullshit about this Yellow Flash...!" An annoyed shinobi snatches the paper out of the others hands and begins reading.

...

After moments of quiet reading and discussion the shinobi speaks up.

"Are you sure this is true? If The Yellow Flash has such a high chance of becoming Hokage should we up his bounty again?" The annoyed shinobi sighs after reading that title for the millionth time and asks the other shinobi as others rush by them with paperwork of their own.

"-The spy also reported that one of the Sannin may inherit that role- Oorochimaru primarily, unsure about the other two" The reporting shinobi responds.

The ninja think to themselves for a minute.

"It is fine as it is- we cannot raise the bounties higher from speculation- inform the Mizukage about this however and send an updated report on all we know of the Yellow Flash" The annoyed Shinobi commands and places the files down.

"Of course- Wait! before I forget the spy needed some coordinated information on someone else, apparently some suspicious individual who he cannot gain more information on- 'The Lazy Uchiha' is what he is nicknamed as, here is his file" The other shinobi hands another very small scroll and runs off with the other files.

...

It doesn't take long for the annoyed shinobi to instead become perplexed at the scroll- reading it not once but rather twice.

"-Does anyone have information on 'The Lazy Uchiha'?" He yells out over his shoulder to the whole room.

A few people stop what they are doing and consult their desks and folders, flipping through them and finding all that they can.

"I have a few reports on that name that come from the land of stone- some spies have found that high ranking teams or individuals have been eliminated by this Lazy Uchiha- but that was just speculation as Iwa's shinobi gave up the investigation from limited information" A kunoichi shouts in response.

"He has eliminated multiple high ranking shinobi and Kunoichi of ours too- two teams confirmed to have been dealt with by the Lazy Uchiha alone, some others were cases that got dropped with this Uchiha as the primary suspect!" Another Shinobi yells out.

"I have a report here from a Hunter-nin who encountered this lazy Uchiha, that Hunter-Nin died but his summon recorded some key dialogue from the Lazy Uchiha!" A Kunoichi stands up and holds a folder.

"Yes- Read it aloud please" The annoyed shinobi points and nods.

"Very well, this Hunter-nin was sent to investigate the disappearance of a scouting team and kill whatever made them vanish- he encountered the Lazy Uchiha, described to be a pre-teen who wore pyjamas and was the captain of a team that included two others, a Saburo Mori estimated to be in his late twenties and a Yu Hyuga who looked to be a teenager- the Lazy Uchiha went over the mission with the other two and told them how they could have improved" The Kunoichi gives some ground work.

"The Hunter-Nin then decided to lay a trap and engage, he managed to catch Saburo Mori within a genjutsu before engaging with Yu Hyuga. The Lazy Uchiha spoke at this point, telling the Hyuga to deal with this Hunter-nin on his own if he was so capable and confident in his abilities- referring to the Hyuga's snippy attitude that he directed at the Lazy Uchiha" The Kunoichi continues.

'The team captain let him fight on his own?' the annoyed shinobi raises an eyebrow.

"The Hunter-Nin nearly eliminated the Hyuga but the Lazy Uchiha interfered at the right moment and caught the Hunter-nins sword with his bare hands. The Hyuga passed out and then the Hunter-Nin fought the Lazy Uchiha on his own. His fighting style was described to be technical and precise, blocking every blow and dodging almost every attack, the Lazy Uchiha despite being weaker and slower was treating this fight as if it were a bore... The Hunter-nin decided to take on a more aggressive stance in retaliation to try and get one strike in" The Kunoichi continues.

"Of course, those dreaded Uchiha and their Sharingan" The annoyed shinobi scowls.

"-Sorry to interrupt but at this point in time the Lazy Uchiha was not using the Sharingan at all- in fact I don't think he used it at all..." The Kunoichi stops herself before continuing again.

'He- he outpaced and predicted a Hunter-nin without the Sharingan at such a young age...' the annoyed shinobi looks down towards the scroll in his hands.

"The rest of the battle was described to be quick and efficient, The Lazy Uchiha dismantled his sword skills and lectured the Hunter-Nin on how he should have acted and what stances he should have used instead- giving advice to the enemy before swiftly stealing his blade and pointing it at the Hunter-nin's throat" The Kunoichi coughs.

...

"This next bit is quoted directly from the mouth of The Lazy Uchiha" The Kunoichi takes a breath.

"-'Hn, Disgraceful and rushed- you did well to eliminate the speedster before he could accelerate and remove the Hyuga before he could sneak his gentle fist into your chakra systems- but you failed to evaluate me properly, you thought me a child and decided to just attack me head on? With a blade in hand no less? Rushed. you rushed to eliminate me, was it worth it Shinobi? Was your death earned? Have you felt power creep in from your carelessness? I suppose not, considering your current circumstances and how you will die very soon. It is very disgraceful to see such a promising shinobi show such a terrible display of investigation and critical thinking, I can see you have trained with that sword your whole life, swinging it relentlessly to become one of those pitiful Seven Swordsmen I bet- but with your skill level and that other Mist Shinobi's skill level in the sword... I am beginning to wonder if those seven individuals have the right to wield such blades. I can only conclude that you met your death here today due to carelessness, I hope in the next life you take a moment to rest and think before rushing into your goals- perhaps in those times of rest you can brush up on your sword skills, and consider wielding a shield on your other hand, it could have improved the way you fight by a lot more than you realize, even if Shinobi consider such bulky things to be too heavy. That is the price of concealment I suppose... I will consider you Special-Jonin rank- Only because I am overestimating you and assuming you are better than this... I can only hope after all, that you were not this pathetic in your promotions and trainings'-" The Kunoichi finishes speaking.

And the whole room thinks in unison- 'Harsh'.

"... I see" The annoyed shinobi looks back at the scroll again.

"Is this all- everything we have on this Shinobi? Who only takes on high ranking missions and who has never failed a mission before? Who is called Lazy because he thinks this war business is too boring and low stakes...? Nothing else on this Shinobi? Not some secret weapon or... hidden talent raised by the Hokage?" The Annoyed shinobi clears his throat and asks the now silent room.

Everyone looks at each other and thinks exactly one thing- 'This cannot be all the information we have right? There is more?'

...

"... He must be a secret weapon or hidden genius compared to the likes of the Sannin, White Fang and even the Yellow Flash- lets keep high alert on this individual and ensure anyone who encounters him gets more information to us no matter what, put a bounty on his head- as high as we can go without the Mizukages permission- I will get a report sent off to the Mizukage now... Oh- and alert the other nations of this, the more open this information is the less Konoha has to gain from this 'Lazy Uchiha'- Back to work!!" The annoyed shinobi commands the room.
