CHAPTER 32: Departure

I looked at my balance

I took a deep breath and “Spin”

“So, Mr. Arin Valen” said Professor Serin sitting cross legged in front of me.
Her brown hair hung like a river, her simple but alluring figure was being highlighted through her posture.
I stood straight with hands behind my back in her office where everything was organized except her desk.
Sunlight spilled from the window on the left from her desk.
Whole room was plastered in gold with world map of the right wall and a globe on her table.
Expensive gadgets lay on her desk just like that and a plate of half eaten sandwich along with an empty cup of tea.
My mouth watered after seeing the sandwich due to the fact that they only served porridge and vegetable soup at the medical wing.
“You missed the examination” she recounted.
“Yes”
“And caused quite a scene in your first year”
“Yes”
“So now, do you know what is going to happen to you?” she eyed my face.
“Maybe I will have to attend extra lectures? Or retake examination? Or write an essay?” I said
“Oh you poor lamb” she smiled devilishly.
Then she gave me a paper “Read it” she commanded.
I started reading, the more I read the more my palms started sweating.
“T-this is-” I screamed in horror.
“EXACTLY” she continued “THIS IS YOUR PUNISHMENT” she smiled.
In my hand was the final list of team selected for fog event.
“B-but I am onl-”
“FIRST YEAR, WHO MISSED HIS EXAMS AND CAUSED A SCENE IN HIS FIRST TWO MONTHS” she finished shutting me up.
“Did you know how much trouble I had to go through because of that incident?” She yelled.
“At least you could’ve asked me” I said something which I regretted a moment after.
Hearing my response the pen in her hand broke.
Her smile vanished, the temperature of the room dropped.
“Before I turn you into mincemeat, get out” her voice came out dripping with rage.
I ran out as fast as I could never looking back.

“Toothbrush, check”
“Towel, check” I crossed the word with a red pen on a thin paper piece
[Don’t forget Perfume, you reek of medicines and hospital bed] a translucent window appeared in corner of my vision.
Apparently the date of departure was today at night, told me by my bodyguard.
I hung my little backpack on my shoulder.
I wore the academy uniform since it was all I had which will not make me feel embarrassed outside campus.
I was about to step out of the room.
“Arin” a voice called me from behind.
I turned around to see my two roommates looking at me as if this is the last time we will be seeing each other.
Arun and Robert
Arun stepped forward and stuffed a piece of sweet in my mouth “Eat it, it is Prasad sent by my mother. May Lord Narayan keep you safe from dangers” he said.
“Thank you Arun” I chewed it with gratitude.
Next, Robert came forward, he gave me a small crucifix and sprinkled some holy water on me and said “May Holy Spirit be with you”.
“Thank you Robert” I took the baptism gratefully.
Then Arun gave me a small piece of metal with a button.
“Press it” he said.
I pressed it and from the piece of metal unleashed a long steel needle. Like a rapier.
Arun came close to me and whispered.
“This is given by him” he pointed to our fourth room mate who was covered in blanket like a cocoon.
“He may not say it but he wanted me to give you this believing that this may give you good luck” Arun whispered to me.
I nodded and stepped out of the room.
The door shut behind me.
I walked upto the front gate where the pickup van waited for me.
I boarded the van and it took me to the helipad.
The pink haired lady accompanied me till the helipad where a different personnel was present.
I was made to sit in a helicopter, I froze when I first saw a helicopter but since everyone was in a hurry I didn’t waste time.
When the helicopter lifted in air I grabbed the edge of my seat on instinct.
[Location: Munich]
I closed my eyes and remembered Ma. I also recalled advices and guidelines given to me by my seniors.
They also told me to be alert as delegates being killed and their heads sent as declaration of war was not common but not uncommon either.
2 Hours went by as I fell into sleep unknowingly and when I opened my eyes we were landing in Paris.
“Mr. Arin” a woman in black clothes came forward after the helicopter landed.
“I am Watanabe Sumire, your escort. please follow me” she walked ahead of me.
I followed behind her. The facility in which we landed were guarded heavily, soldiers taking rounds with weapons in their hands.
I was led through a couple of checks before sitting in a black limousine.
Miss Sumire sat beside me.
Car moved, scenes changing
Miss Sumire was quiet, her head tilted towards the window.
She didn’t talk, just sat with a straight posture gazing at the stars.
We went through a deserted route, at some point of time the speed of the car was so fast that trees and other monuments blurred before even being properly constructed in my vision.
I saw something moving from the corner of my eye and when I turned my head I saw Miss Sumire handing me a water bottle.
I took it and drank a bit of water to ease my nervousness.
She put her hand in her breast pocket and took out a nutrition bar.
“Good if no meal available” she said in a low voice while putting the bar in my hand.
Miss Sumire was a beauty you wouldn’t see commonly even in the institute except for the snow white lady who was in a league of her own. Her hair was the color of space blue and her eyes a light shade of purple.
I took a good look at her for the first time and stared at her for a few moments without blinking in a daze.
Snapping out of it only when archive appeared in front of my vision
[CONCENTRATE SOLDIER! ]
I hurriedly looked towards the window
[I understand this is biology at play, but have you ever taken a good look in the mirror?] Archive said.
“Shut up” I whispered after being hit at the sore spot.
Meanwhile Miss Sumire gazed out of the window lost in her own thoughts as the car neared the destination.
