CHAPTER 31: One Month
[Cassandra’s POV]
I put a bit of force and the boy’s wrist broke.
‘Poor thing’ I felt pity and pleasure at the same time thinking about how this tiny little thing will explode once it meets the ground from such height.
I let his hand go and watched him fall.
Thrill and ecstasy bloomed inside my heart seeing his desperate face.
I saw his figure going down, my smile widening with his descent.
11,10,9,7…
“Huh?”
After crossing 6th floor his form shifted, no. It was more like he slid from expected trajectory towards a new trajectory mid air.
“Impossible!” I exclaimed.
He didn’t hit the ground, instead his form headed towards the fountain in a parabolic path.
‘SPLASH’
The water from fountain jumped when his form hit the surface of water.
“Tch” I stood over the railing ready to jump down and finish him but nearby students already surrounded the fountain.
“Lucky bastard, I will thoroughly finish you next time.”
[Arin’s POV]
‘SHIT,SHIT,SHIT’ Wind hit my face as I descended.
I looked around and saw a fountain.
“Have you ever experienced a water slide?” I asked archive.
[WHAT ARE Y-] Archive tried to ask.
But I imagined, a slide. The ones they have in water parks.
From the 5th floor to the fountain and after that the latest recall that I had was myself being carried out at a stretcher surrounded by nurses. After that it was all dark.
I opened my eyes and saw a woman, it was all blurry so I unconsciously spoke “Mom?”
“Oh my! Calling the first woman you see mom after making such a mess out of yourself is very like of you Arin” the voice was neither comforting nor cruel.
I stiffened.
Even if someone had asked me to identify this voice in my sleep I had have done so because…
“I apologize Mrs. Serin” I tried to sit up but sharp pain shot up in my butt.
She stopped me with her hand.
“Either you are crazy or you want to get away with this incident like nothing happened, But maybe your luck ran out while protecting you because I am not going to let this slide” she said.
Then she took out a notebook from somewhere and started interrogation.
“3 Major Bones fractured in Left Arm, Right Leg and Pelvis as well as several minor bones. Minor injuries sustained in spine. 3 Operations successfully done, At least One Month of rest needed even after super regeneration capsule.” She read the report nonchalantly.
She then crossed her legs
“The way you reacted at least tells me that you didn’t hit your head too hard” She noted.
At that moment I regretted waking up at all.

“Hey you there?” I whispered to air.
After sometime a translucent widow appeared
[What?]
“Can’t you be a bit less rude towards your precious host?” I asked
[If you survive another fall like that, I will consider thinking about it]

I pinched the bridge of my nose
As expected we can never understand each other.

Morning arrived sooner than expected.
Today was supposed to be my semester examination but Mrs. Serin had strictly prohibited my entrance in the exam hall saying that if something happened to me their investments would go down the drain and that she would rather see me work like an overworked corporate guy instead of me dying on her.
I had one month and last night made me realize how much I need strength more than anything.
I saw my legs which were in a slightly better condition.
I heard a knock on the door.
“Come in” I said.
The nurse came inside along with breakfast.
She set up the table in front of me and put down the breakfast.
Oats and vegetable soup.
“Here you go” she said.
“Excuse me can I get -” I said.
Hearing my request the nurse got confused, “I-I will ask doctor if this is possible” she ran off to call doctor. Meanwhile I looked out of the window.
I recalled my conversation with Miss Serin where she said that retaking exam was not possible but not to worry since she will find other methods to torment me mentally.
She also assigned me two guards when I told her that someone pushed me and the case of Hatchet which I submitted for fingerprint verification and never got the results for.
Spring had arrived. Then I looked at the calendar 19th March was today’s date.
“Okay, one month is all I have. Let’s make the best out of it” I understood that whoever it was will not let me live peacefully.
12th April, In a certain office of the central tower
Professor Serin Illias was checking papers when suddenly the door of her cabin was violently opened.
“I don’t recall giving you permission to enter, Miss Olivia” Professor Seris said while not bothering to even look up.
“It is urgent” Olivia said as a matter of fact.
“Wha-” before however she could respond, the door was violently opened again.
“T-this is emergency” it was a man in a lab coat breathing heavily.
“What happened Louis?” this time Professor Serin put aside the answer copies and sat in a serious manner.
“T-the Serilian Pattern” he gulped. “The Serilian pattern has attained maximum value in two places.
Professor Serin stood up “What is the expected time of starting of event ?”
“It is expected to begin in a week” Louis informed.
“What is the intensity probability?” She asked.
“Upto 3rd grade” Louis said with confidence
“Contact the Headmaster, Olivia arrange a meeting with seniors of all tracks as well and contact all noble houses and search for the best of 3rd level in all combat personnel.
“Yes professor” Olivia ran out.
“Keep monitoring the symptoms and inform me as soon as any change is recorded.” She said.
[Arin’s POV]
15th April, digital calendar showed today’s date.
Knock knock
“Come in” I said.
I stopped pedaling and cleaned the sweat on my face with a towel.
The Nurse entered carrying Dinner.
She didn’t even bother to gave me a strange look as this had become a routine now.
Whenever she came inside the room after 7 in the evening, she found me pedaling frantically on a gym bicycle like my life depended on it.
“Meet the Doctor after eating” she said and left.

“You will be discharged tomorrow cadet Arin” Doctor declared eyeing the current reports.
I nodded
“You have healed completely but still take care of yourself for a month, you are not an elite or a blood bound whose body can automatically recover.” He said again.
“Yes sir” I said and returned to my room.
I pedaled the gym cycle till 4 in the morning and moved to bed.
A pink haired woman appeared instantly beside me.
“Rotating the shifts?” I asked
The pink haired woman was the bodyguard assigned to me by Professor Serin.
She nodded and said “Meet Professor as soon as possible after being discharged” then she disappeared.
I sat on the bed.
