CHAPTER 30: Am I going to Die?
“Did you feel some change in your breathing?” nurse asked me.
“Yes, lately I am able to breathe in more air” I said.
I mean I am able to breathe more for approx 10 months now, but for doctor it is 20 days since they injected the stem cells in my chest.
For three hours it is compulsory for me to go to medical wing where they would put me in a comfortable sleeping capsule and tell me to sleep.
Well it is a respected rule to not sleep in between classes but you can’t help if someone requests you right?
When nurse comes to fetch me from class everyday I can feel the gazes of hate and jealousy from my ‘precious’ fellow classmates when they would be having to attend two more lectures for attendance and here I just have to sleep to get that.
I turned towards them and with a smirk conveyed my message ‘This is what you call skill issue losers’.
I was being transported to northern medical wing which may be due to having most advanced medical technologies known to mankind.
The van advanced smoothly reaching the northern ward of campus in just 5 minutes which would have taken me 30 minutes by foot.
The guards opened the gates and the van slid inside.
No matter how many times I looked, the northern ward always seemed like an another world to me.
There were fountains, road stretched like a red carpet and instead of 3-4 dorm buildings there were mansions.
Apparently I once asked the nurse about it and she told me that for students of combat and children of royalty or sponsoring houses were given not dorms but personalized housing with personal training space and equipments along with personnel.
“Privilege I guess” I muttered.
[Of course since they are the pillars of humanity and others can be disposed if needed] Archive commented.
I was told to lay down in the incubation capsule. I laid down, the capsule was closed.
Inside the dim cold blue light turned on. I closed my eyes letting the terminal fatigue swallow me.
[Day of Torture 62, Total cellular transformation completed: 74.9%]
You are going early today? , meaning arrived in my mind.
“Since I have exams after this weekend” I said while packing my bag.
I hung the bag on my shoulders and started walking towards my dorm.
[Left lobe functionality 76%, Classification updated: From Coughing doll to Human Being]
“Eh? I wasn’t th-” I turned around instinctively and imagined a wall in front of me.
Clang!
Something hit the invisible wall and fell down.
I took out a handkerchief and picked up the thing which fell down, It was a hatchet.
[If you hadn’t turned around-]
“I would have been severely injured” I finished.
I saw in the direction from which the hatchet came but all I saw was darkness and a streetlight flickering.
“I have a feeling that this is just the starting” I murmured and ran to my dorm.
“Did you do what I ordered?” said a boy wearing a bathing robe, a glass of wine in his right hand facing towards the window from where the whole campus could be seen.
The room was lavish, where each accessory costed in millions.
A maid stood at the corner of the room and another boy at the opposite edge of the room kneeling.
His navy blue coat had Red Strips. He trembled a bit his head low facing towards the ground.
“I couldn’t sir” he said in a low voice.
The other boy stopped shaking his glass of wine.
The boy who was kneeling saw a pair of feet in front of him just after he blinked.
“And what is your excuse?” a voice reached his ears, calm but dripping with rage.
The kneeling boy began stammering.
“I-I threw a-a hatchet b-but-..” his voice trailed off.
“BUT?”
“I-It hit s-something like an in-invisible wal-” but he couldn’t complete his sentence.
‘SLAP’
A voice filled the entire room.
The kneeling boy whose face was down for a while now was wedged in the side wall, unconscious.
“Incompetent” The boy in the bathing robe cursed. He then walked back to the window
“Cassandra”
“Yes, young master” the maid at the corner of the room replied.
“I want that bug cleaned as soon as possible” he ordered while enjoying the view from the window .
“As you wish young master” the maid smiled.
“Nataliya can only be mine” he whispered to himself.
“ACHOO” I sneezed loudly
[Seriously, just two months in and already playing with the heart of ladies huh?] Archive eyed me suspiciously.
“Who will like a tiny boy with pale skin and sunken eyes?” I doubted.
[We never know, rich people have fantasies anyway]
That made the hairs of my neck stand up.
The lecture ended and I stood up.
“Time to go home”
The Friday menu always made me drool.
I had lunch and started studying for the exams.
I didn’t go to train today and instead made my way up to the terrace.
“The campus sure is beautiful I looked from above” I admired standing near the edge.
The beauty was there, the wind was there, the peace was there and above all there was no sound.
“Wait, why is there no sou-” before even I could finish something pushed me from behind.
The push was definitely not accidental, it was a proper push that’s all I could make out before the world spun.
I grabbed the railing in panic.
I was hanging in air, my eyes darted downwards. The ground was far below and I swung from the railing 13 floors above.
I looked up and saw a shadowy figure.
“Hey’ I don’t know who you are” I gulped “but let’s talk it out”
The shadowy figure moved it’s hand and grabbed my wrist.
“H-hey please don’t do this, I haven’t even dated yet” I pleaded while my mind ran at full throttle.
The figure put a lot of force instantaneously.
‘CRACK’ with a sound my wrist broke and the next thing I knew was that I was falling down from a 13 storey building.
