Fast and Furious: I Control Everything

Chapter 286: Recruiting the Team, the Squad Takes Shape

Hunter shot Perkins a displeased glare.

For that troublemaking female assassin, he felt there was a need to sit down and have another serious talk with her about the origin of the universe someday.

He lifted the margarita in front of him and took a sip, partly to avoid Jane's clearly growing hot and eager gaze.

Lately in New York, Hunter had been living at Jane's place the whole time.

Maybe because they had been in close contact so often that her favorability had gone up.

Or maybe because Jane had been married before.

Hunter could clearly feel that after he raised Jane's favorability and dependence on him, this married killer wife seemed to be thinking about remarriage again.

What a joke.

In this life, Hunter had a grand ambition to become the sea god.

How could he give up the whole ocean for just one mermaid?

So up to now, he had been pretending not to understand women's hints.

But Perkins, on the other hand, had actually brought up the issue directly.

Putting down his glass, Hunter glared at Perkins again.

Then he said calmly, "Cut it out. I've handled a few jobs for you before, and this time I need you to do something for me."

"I'm going after Frank D'Amico, one of New York's major drug lords. I've already found his residence."

"He has a huge power base, and lately there have been other people secretly targeting him too."

"Because of that, his security has been reinforced a lot."

"There are probably no fewer than sixty or seventy thugs and bodyguards around him."

"On my own, it would be difficult to take him out."

Hunter felt a little helpless.

Lately, Damon, his daughter Mindy, and that punk kid who called himself Kick-Ass had all been repeatedly attacking and destroying Frank D'Amico's drug labs and properties.

Especially not long ago, Hunter had personally taken out Mons, one of D'Amico's key men.

That made the already cautious drug lord even more vigilant.

As one of New York's biggest drug lords, Frank D'Amico had at least several hundred or even a thousand subordinates.

His power was still considerable.

It wasn't that Hunter couldn't deal with Frank D'Amico by himself.

Thanks to the skills he had triggered and upgraded in Las Vegas, along with the more than thirty free attribute points he had gained, Hunter's five attributes were now not far from six times those of an ordinary adult male.

He was absolutely confident he could deal with Frank D'Amico on his own.

The reason he wanted to bring Jane and Perkins along was that Frank D'Amico was too cunning.

His residence was in Queens, next to Manhattan, inside a luxury five-star hotel.

Yes.

That sly drug lord had laundered his assets and bought a five-star hotel.

Then he had carried out a series of lavish renovations.

The hotel operated normally in public, but the top floors were reserved exclusively for Frank D'Amico and his trusted men.

That was one of the busiest areas in New York, so if a gun was fired, the police would arrive very quickly.

Hunter had spent one Continental coin to buy the hotel's internal structure map from the Continental.

After briefly running the numbers in his head, he came to a conclusion.

By himself, there was no way he could finish the fight in under half an hour.

And the nearest police station was less than ten minutes away by car.

Even allowing for traffic and other delays, once a report came in, the police would probably arrive in twenty minutes or so at most.

And because this was New York, it was almost certain that the FBI would get involved too.

If Hunter wanted to finish the fight quickly, doing it alone would definitely leave a lot of loose ends behind, and the Continental would have to clean them up afterward.

By then, he would probably have to pay out quite a few more Continental coins.

Those things were not hard to earn, but there were too many uses for them, so gathering a large amount of Continental coins was still difficult.

After all, since joining the Continental several months ago, Hunter had already completed more than twenty jobs.

Counting the compensation the Continental had recently given him, and subtracting what he had already spent, he only had about twenty coins left now.

When the Continental helped clean up messes, they usually charged by the number of bodies.

If Hunter left any loose ends behind and needed the Continental to step in, conservatively speaking, he would probably be charged at least forty or fifty coins.

That was the real reason he wanted backup.

Of course, Hunter also wanted to use this chance to build some teamwork with Jane and Perkins.

They might need to operate together often in the future.

Jane looked a little disappointed as she withdrew her gaze, but she did not say much.

He had already mentioned this to her the previous night.

For that reason, Jane had even accepted an assassination job related to Frank D'Amico from her own assassin company.

Normally, for a particularly troublesome target like this, even Jane would think twice before taking the job.

But this time, with Hunter involved, Jane had never worked with him before, but she had fought him, and he had even killed her late husband, who was supposedly a top-tier assassin too.

So to Jane, this mission did not seem very difficult.

Besides, Hunter had also promised to help her join the Continental after the job was done.

As for the organization behind him and Perkins, which was even more powerful, Jane would be lying if she said she had never regretted turning them down back then.

Perkins instinctively wanted to agree.

She was happy to maintain her relationship with Hunter.

But just as the words reached her lips, and she saw Hunter sitting so close to Jane, jealousy welled up in her heart again.

"Two Continental coins. You know my injuries still are not fully healed."

Hunter rolled his eyes at her.

After leaving Las Vegas, when the two of them returned to New York, they had been intimate for two more days.

He had personally checked her injuries, and they were already no issue.

Besides, several more days had passed since then.

It was impossible for her to be completely healed by now, but for an assassin like Perkins, that little bit of injury would not affect her ability to act at all.

In plain terms, this woman's greed had reared its head again.

She was always trying to squeeze something extra out of Hunter.

Fortunately, Hunter was not short on one or two Continental coins now.

He let his gaze linger for a few seconds on her generous assets, giving Perkins a look that said, "I'll deal with you later."

Then he nodded and agreed.

"No problem. Let's each make our preparations."

"We move tonight. When the time comes, everyone follows my lead."
