Chapter 280: Hit-Girl
When Diana mentioned that she had information about Telly, Hunter frowned slightly, but still sat back down.
"Fine. As long as the information is useful to me, I will take the job you are talking about."
Telly was one of Hunter's lovers, a former underage prostitute he had rescued in Boston a few months ago.
If Diana's information could be used to get a handle on him, Hunter figured it would probably have something to do with Telly's background.
He had talked to Telly before, and she did not know much about her own origins.
She only remembered that her father seemed to have been a police officer, and that she had a younger sister.
Telly vaguely recalled that when she was little, one day a group of people suddenly stormed into her home, killed her mother not long after she had given birth to her sister, and took her away.
Not long after that, Telly was sold to human traffickers.
Then, after an unknown amount of time, she was sold again to the Russian mob that controlled Boston, becoming one of the underage prostitutes under their control.
She was used to make money for them, satisfying the perverted tastes of local politicians, celebrities, and rich men.
After Hunter rescued her, Telly had stayed by his side ever since.
When he first saved her, Hunter had even considered giving her some money and sending her away.
But Telly had been taken when she was very young and had received little education. Although she dreamed of becoming a singer, she actually had almost no real survival skills.
In the end, of her own free will, Telly became Hunter's lover and was now in Pomona, learning and helping him manage the farm.
Her dependence on him had already been pushed very high.
At the very least, Hunter had never seen her resist or object to any of his requests.
Because of that, he naturally gave this little lover some special treatment.
Long ago, Hunter had promised Telly that he would help her find her family.
Although he was not sure whether the organization behind Diana was trying to tempt him with that information, Hunter admitted that he was willing to step into that trap.
Sure enough, after he sat back down, Diana's expression and demeanor became much more restrained.
His behavior just now had made her realize something.
The young and handsome Asian assassin in front of her, though clearly a lecher, was not a man without a temper.
Prideful as she was, Diana did not exactly like men like him. But recruiting this young assassin, whose strength was clearly impressive, and eventually turning him into a blade willingly wielded by the organization, was the task she had been given.
Right now, she was still only a core member of the organization.
She wanted to go further, to become an officer, maybe even a regional supervisor or a director someday.
So this young assassin, who had already shown terrifying capability and efficiency, absolutely had to be brought under control.
She took a deep breath, quickly calmed herself, and learned her lesson.
This time she did not waste words.
"I am going to tell you something that has not been confirmed yet, but its reliability should be extremely high."
"We may have found your lover Telly's family."
Hunter's eyes moved slightly.
He had actually been thinking of having the Continental help him look for them before.
But things had been too busy, and he had forgotten about it for the moment.
He had not expected Diana to bring him relevant information on her own.
Hunter was not surprised that someone had been investigating him.
He had caused quite a stir over the past few months.
It would be completely normal for groups like the Continental, or the organization behind Diana, to look into his identity and background.
At this point, even the U.S. Department of Defense and maybe the CIA could already have detailed files on him.
And along with that, it would not be strange at all if the people around him had also been exposed.
"Continue."
Hunter simply said those two words and waited for Diana to go on.
Diana could not read enough emotion from his face and was slightly disappointed.
But that only made this smart, proud woman more aware of how troublesome the man in front of her really was.
"I thought he was just a decent assassin, but it looks like he is far from ordinary."
Her organization had previously sent top-tier operatives to track and investigate Hunter in Las Vegas for more than ten days.
From that intelligence, they had drawn several conclusions.
"Excellent long-range sniping ability, formidable hand-to-hand skill, astonishing stamina and endurance."
"Suspected abilities in disguise, lockpicking, climbing, gambling..."
"Even top operatives start sensing him if they get too close while tailing him."
"This guy is not even twenty yet..."
"Even after the organization checked the gene database and confirmed that there were no Chinese-descended subjects among the Soviet experiment candidates back then..."
"some people inside still could not help wondering whether this guy had also been created by some faction using technology leaked from the Soviet super-soldier program."
Diana's mind flashed through all of this in an instant.
Then she stopped hiding things and quickly shared the information the organization had collected.
"Starting a few months ago, a pair dressed like comic-book superheroes appeared in New York and began punishing criminals."
"Our organization got curious and sent people to investigate."
"The result..."
Diana took out two photos from her purse and pushed them toward Hunter.
Hunter picked them up and his expression changed dramatically.
"Hit-Girl?!"
In the two photos, there were two little girls who looked about ten years old.
In one of them, the girl was wearing a purple wig and an extremely flashy outfit.
In the other, she was dressed like a normal elementary school student.
At first glance, the two outfits looked so different that no one would connect them to the same person.
But after a careful comparison, Hunter could easily see that the face shape and body type of the two girls were basically the same.
And the exaggerated superhero outfit in the first photo was something he was actually very familiar with.
Back when he first saw Telly, he had mistaken her for Hit-Girl and decided to rescue her.
He had not expected that in this special world, the world's correction force would not only merge in the storyline from The Equalizer, but would also seem to have merged in Kick-Ass as well.
And the little killer girl Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass now seemed to have a connection to Telly.
"Could the world's correction force have turned Hit-Girl into Telly's younger sister?"
"If that is true, then Telly's memories suddenly make sense."
"Hit-Girl's mother was killed by criminals in revenge, and her father, Big Daddy, was a retired cop."
"Telly really might have some kind of connection to them."
