Fast and Furious: I Control Everything

Chapter 274: Ruben Vanishes, Hunter’s Proposal

Danny already had his answer from the smile on his old friend's face.

He shook his head and said nothing more.

This operation was, of course, Danny's attempt to win back his ex-wife.

But he also understood that there was no way he could beat casino magnate Terry Benedict alone.

That was why he had gathered a crew of specialists and put together a heist to take Benedict down.

Rusty did not want to keep talking about that either, so he changed the subject and asked quietly, "Has Ruben been behaving himself lately?"

"I have not seen him around for a few days, but I heard his casino has not been doing well these last two years."

"That six million we took from him probably hurt a lot."

"You think he might get stupid and come after Hunter again?"

"Our operation is only a few days away."

A trace of concern flashed in Danny's eyes, but he quickly shook his head.

"Ruben may be arrogant, but he is not stupid. If he were, he would never have endured Benedict taking the Bellagio from him and only now be preparing to strike back."

Ruben had once been one of Las Vegas's casino moguls too, but he ran a casino and also gambled recklessly.

That was how Benedict had set him up back then, using a rigged game to make him lose hundreds of millions.

The Bellagio hotel, which had still belonged to Ruben at the time, was taken by Benedict in that same scheme.

In Las Vegas, the largest gambling city in the world, there were hundreds of casinos of all sizes.

That included only the legal ones, the casinos that had licenses from the state government and the U.S. government to operate openly.

There were also plenty of illegal, small-scale casinos that had no license at all.

But the truly massive casinos, the ones that were also five-star luxury hotels, numbered only seventeen in the whole city.

Only someone who owned at least one of those giant casinos could be considered a true casino mogul.

And the Bellagio was one of those seventeen.

After Benedict tricked him out of the Bellagio, Ruben lost his status as a casino mogul.

There was no way he had not thought about revenge.

But Benedict was meaner, more cautious, and far stronger.

That was why Ruben had held himself back, waiting until Danny, another man with a grudge against Benedict, came looking for him to cooperate.

So Danny believed Ruben was not a fool. He was simply too arrogant.

As for Hunter, the Asian gambler with terrifying fighting ability, Ruben should not be planning any revenge against him for now.

At least not before he got his revenge on Benedict.

"I hope so."

Rusty was not so optimistic.

He had picked up a lot of information in Las Vegas lately, some about Benedict and some about Ruben.

After losing the Bellagio, Ruben's wealth had shrunk badly.

He now had only a few hundred million left, most of it tied up in several casinos.

It was hard to say exactly how much cash he could still pull out.

Rusty figured it was probably around ten million at most.

After Hunter took six million from him in one shot, Rusty suspected Ruben's liquid cash had been nearly drained.

If he still had anything left, it would not be much.

So Ruben probably would not let Hunter off easily. He would likely come looking for trouble again eventually.

But Rusty also agreed with Danny's guess: Ruben probably would not go after Hunter before their operation started.

That was why he had not shown up again lately.

Just as Hunter finished talking with Bash, Danny called out to him.

"Hunter, over here."

Hunter walked over and glanced around the warehouse first.

Ruben was nowhere to be seen.

"Looks like that somewhat racist old white man is not as stupid as he first seemed."

"But after I took six million from him and he still held back, he must be planning something bigger."

"After Terry Benedict is dealt with, that guy might come after me too."

Danny and Rusty could guess that much, and so could Hunter.

He simply did not care.

With the Proficiency System, all five of his attributes were already more than five times those of an ordinary adult male.

And he had his private space full of weapons and gear, enough to arm a squad of several dozen.

If things really got ugly, Hunter would show that man what cruelty looked like.

"What is it?"

Hunter asked with a smile.

He did not mind Rusty. Once they had gotten to know each other, he had found him easy enough to deal with.

But he did not like Danny very much.

The man's mind was too heavy.

Whenever Hunter was around him, it always felt like Danny was calculating something.

Maybe because they were too much alike, Hunter disliked this other schemer and preferred dealing with more straightforward, open people.

Danny thought for a moment before giving instructions.

"The day after tomorrow is the job."

"I know your gambling skill is more than enough. That will not be a problem."

"All we need is for you to make enough noise that day."

"Just get the casino itself chaotic and force the security staff to split up."

"That will be enough."

Hunter blinked.

"That is all?"

"If that is all, I do not need to go into the Bellagio and make a scene myself."

"Just send me and Linus in there to walk around a few times and that should do it."

Danny froze.

Rusty reacted first. His eyes lit up, and he asked quickly, "You mean let you two go in and steal things?"

He had not finished speaking before Hunter nodded.

"Exactly. If a bunch of tourists and gamblers inside the casino suddenly discover their stuff has been stolen..."

"I imagine their first reaction will be to go after the casino and make a scene."

"That would force a large number of security people to spread out and chase the thieves."

"If a whole crowd starts causing trouble like that, the effect will be much better than me simply going in and making a fuss."

"At that point, we just need Livingston to be careful and make sure the casino does not notice any part of the surveillance system getting hijacked."

Danny fell into thought immediately.

He had to admit that Hunter's suggestion was much better than his own original plan.

Danny had been thinking Hunter could walk into the casino, win a lot of money with his gambling skill, and draw Benedict's attention that way.

But Hunter alone could only pull in Benedict's attention, along with a small number of others.

If, instead, the casino itself was hit by a wave of stolen wallets, purses, and valuables, the panic would spread much further.

That would create a much bigger gap in the security system.

Thinking that through, Danny finally smiled too.

"Alright. In a few days, then. We will see how you and Linus do."

"No problem. Leave it to us."
