Villain Extra: Rogue Reader

Chapter 94: Family

The classical good old misdirection.

What does that mean?

It meant that when an opponent purposely caused a huge noise or mess in one place, their actual objective was secretly another area.

They only made such a loud bang to gather everyone to the decoy they created.

This was such a common tactic used in first-person shooter games where the terrorist team would purposely fake a site and plant the bomb on another site.

Ray was too used to this kind of disgusting and annoying tactic. The time wasted in heading to the wrong site was irritating, to say the least.

The emotional rollercoaster was even higher when they were originally stationed at the actual hit site but were forced to rotate because of a dumb teammate’s call.

"Ah fuck, I’m the dumb teammate’s call." Ray facepalmed and realized he had been outplayed.

The only difference was that this decoy contained real danger too and not just a fake.

If the portal outbreak and nobody was present to sustain it in a place, one could easily imagine the chaos that ensued.

"Ugh, where is the piece of shit protagonist?" He ruffled his hair and wanted to give William a fierce beating.

How dare he remain so ignorant and stay in the welcome ceremony auditorium when things were going down?

Nothing was more infuriating than when the protagonist received all the luck and benefits simply because they were appointed the protagonist.

Hard work?

Sure, they put in like 1-2 weeks and already surpassed those who struggled and trained for 10-20 years.

Like, make it make sense, please!

’Is this the real punishment you designed for me, Chasing Star?’ Ray had a feeling that the system hint was a bait in the first place to lure him into working extra hard.

No pun intended with the word extra...

Too bad for them, he never played by the rules.

"Since it’s a misdirection, I might as well add oil to the fire. That person gave a key to a student named William, and it was he who revealed the layout of the map to them." Ray laughed manically.

What better way was there to vent than to pin the blame on the main protagonist?

Not only would he earn more Villain Points by dragging the innocent little William, but he would also bring him to the Midnight Specters’ attention.

"Ugh, I hope there’s a shapeshifter or a chameleon skill to devour soon. I can’t wait to transform into William and kill a few annoying people here and there in public." He rubbed his chin.

Why wait for the storyline to progress when he could just eliminate the dangerous variable in the first place?

Only dumb Extra Protagonists leave those characters alone and then claim they needed them alive for a certain plot point of the storyline.

Like hell no!!!

Imagine thinking in such a fixed and ridiculous mindset.

They should have just eliminated the dangerous variable early on while they were still a weakling.

"Growl!"

While he was wondering how to mess with the protagonist, Lancelot suddenly growled at him.

The growl wasn’t the aggressive kind, but rather a notice or warning kind.

"Hmm, right, the portal outbreak is coming." Ray snapped out of his daze and focused on the present.

"With my skills, it’s definitely impossible to contain the portal outbreak. I bet the Principal would also come soon." He furrowed his brows.

This was a huge EXP Farm for Lancelot, so what should he do?

Lancelot could totally use this chance to farm for experience points to level up. Plus, he wouldn’t be at risk or anything when he could cancel the summon anytime once he sensed he was in danger.

And even in the off-chance Lancelot was slain, he could always be re-summoned.

Oh wait!

His role was a Villain Extra, and since the Midnight Specters had set the stage for themselves, it would be ridiculous if he didn’t act like he was part of them, right?

Villains should stick together like family, right?

After all, the power of family was very impressive.

Well, it didn’t matter if the Midnight Specters disliked the association. He was going to pin the blame on them anyway.

That was their fault for starting a fight so early on and disrupting his slacking time.

"Lancelot, you stay here and try to kill as many monsters as you can. I’ll unsummon you once the time is up." Ray ordered.

"GROWL!"

Lancelot raised his long black sword and turned toward the portal outbreak.

The Master had given it a command, and they would oblige it with their utmost ability.

While Lancelot was ready for a bloodbath, Ray exited the room and coincidentally saw Belva kill the student, who was covered in blood.

"You’ve got any useful information?" He approached her and asked.

Although Belva was a bloody mess and had a psychopath killer-like appearance, he remained nonchalant about that.

"Yes, they were working for a mysterious organization that promised them that their status would be elevated and they wouldn’t be suppressed by other nobles." Belva wiped the blood near her cheek with a handkerchief.

"Suppressed by other nobles? Are they not nobles themselves?" He raised an eyebrow.

"They’re merely a Banneret and a Baron noble house."

"Baron is the real noble, but the lowest of the lowest possible. But what is a Banneret again?"

"A Banneret is basically a Senior Knight household that is close to nobility, but not quite. They ultimately still have to bow their heads in front of a Baron."

"Ah!" Realization quickly dawned upon Ray’s.

"So the student I killed earlier was from the Banneret household, right?"

"Eh, yes, that would be correct." Belva was a bit surprised that his guess was accurate.

Though it wasn’t hard to guess correctly when that person claimed that he stole everything from him.

Since he thrashed them badly, their reputation as a Banneret was definitely stained and disregarded.

’Wow, what a real loser mentality to shift their failure onto me.’ Ray lost the tiny little speck of dust in sympathy for this student.

They weren’t even considered a proper villain, but a useless cannon fodder.
