Chapter 95: Undead
"Let’s leave this place for now." Ray suddenly suggested and decided to use the deceased Banneret’s student as his temporary undead target.
His low self-esteem got poked at, and they decided to cause such a mess.
He would actually be doing them a favor by turning them into undead and helping to paint the student as an innocent victim. This was him farming good karma points.
Of course, that was a lie.
How could he possibly do any good deeds for those who targeted him?
Only the foolish protagonist would do such a move.
Forgiveness?
In this brutal world?
Unless one got the thick plot armor device from the protagonist, one must eliminate the root completely.
With how unreasonably the Banneret student reacted, it was hard to tell whether his family would seek revenge.
After all, it was common news that he thrashed a lot of students last night.
And his memory was like a goldfish. He had forgotten the majority of them, nor did he even care to learn their names once.
"Wait, we’re leaving now?" Belva was startled. "What about the portal?"
"Oh, nothing big. Just an outbreak is happening, and we need to leave now." He replied in a carefree tone.
"A WHAT NOW??!"
She was stunned on the spot. A portal outbreak was no laughing matter. It could easily become a catastrophe in the blink of an eye.
"Why are we leaving if an outbreak is occurring?" She questioned.
"Belva, are you seriously asking that question right now?" Ray raised an eyebrow. "You didn’t forget how the academy basically allowed bullying to the point where you got sold like some sort of low merchandise, right?"
"..."
Belva’s expression quickly turned cold when she was reminded of the past.
Indeed, just why was she concerned about the academy’s safety?
"You’re right... we should leave." She nodded and agreed with his suggestion. Not even she was confident in suppressing a portal outbreak despite being a Third Circle Mage.
It was just too much.
Moreover, her motivation to defend had died the moment Ray reminded her of her plight.
"Go first; I still need to do something. If the reinforcement arrives, just tell them I’ve left already because I got scared." Ray instructed.
"Eh, we’re not going together?"
"Don’t make me say it again, Belva. You’ve wasted enough time chattering." His tone turned ice cold. He still needed time to turn the deceased student into undead and then flee with Teleportation.
If he was late, then the Principal could easily locate him.
By then, his so-called plan to gain Villain Points and expose Midnight Specters would be spoiled.
He wasn’t going to let the Midnight Specters run amok and continued to do evil deeds behind his back.
Yes, he had killed people already. But he could confidently say that each one of them was a waste of oxygen and guilty of death.
However, if innocent people were to be harmed because of his selfish desire, it would become a mental burden for him.
Just because interfering might alter the storyline, Ray couldn’t give a flying fuck about how much a butterfly effect it would cause.
As long as he could live without any guilty conscience, that was enough.
Sometime later, Belva left the vicinity, and Ray went to work immediately.
He glanced at the deceased student whose name he still didn’t know.
’Damn it, I should have asked Belva what his name was.’ Alas, it was a little bit too late, and he was not omnipotent.
He couldn’t predict everything like those damn protagonists who seemed to have everything under their control or that everything would work out fine their way.
He was just a typical rogue reader who was trying his best to navigate this bunch of complex and impromptu events.
’Hey system, I can always cancel one of the slots for my Necromancer skill, right?’ Ray asked them for confirmation.
[That would be correct! But a friendly reminder. Once canceled, you only get one chance to resummon them, and the process can fail. Do tread with caution, as a confirmation button would appear when you wish to cancel a summon or multiple at once as a final reminder each time!]
The swift response made Ray understand the system was always watching.
It was as if they had become the reader and he was the protagonist in the novel.
Of course, it was just a fleeting thought process as he was soon distracted by the summoning process.
"ARISE!" He called out, thinking this was the keyword to summon the undead.
Unfortunately, nothing happened, and he just looked like a dork or a clown.
Talk about failed aura farming...
"What the hell, system!" He instantly lashed out at the system. Since his first summon, Lancelot, was summoned without an actual corpse, the process was relatively simple.
But this was his first time trying to use the skill on an actual corpse.
Creepy?
Yes, but you got to do whatever you needed to survive.
[The host didn’t even set up a catchphrase, and seriously... Arise? What are you, ten?]
"What a bitch. No catchphrase then. Just get the fuck up when I wield for it." He clicked his tongue.
It was a good thing there was nobody present. Otherwise, this embarrassment of a failed aura farming would have been spread far and wide.
Without any catchphrase whatsoever, Ray simply gestured with his hand in a get-up motion.
Sizzling!
A sizzling-like sound resounded as the body slowly started to rise up from the ground.
Its aura was completely dark and gave off the vibe of a bad person without any debate necessary.
"Wow, alive, he’s pathetic enough. Now dead, he’s even more pathetic." Ray pursed his lips.
No wonder their life was so miserable. They probably never even got any admirers.
"But then again, isn’t he so much better now that he can’t talk smack?" He snickered when the undead student simply stared at him with a lifeless expression. There was not even a reaction when he taunted him again.
"Greet your Master!" Ray lifted his chin up and ordered them to kneel.
